I apologize for…read morethe long review but want other parents to be warned and understand our experience so that they can make an informed decision about where they send their children, especially infants. While our son only attended the school for a total of 8 hours, it has been nothing but less than favorable interactions from the initial drop off. When my husband and I arrived to drop our son off, the assistant director was on what sounded like a personal telephone call discussing another parent complaining about her. After waiting there for 5 minutes, she got off the phone, and did not know who we were or why we were there. We explained it was our son's first day and we were there to drop off. She walked us to our son's classroom where we met his teacher. Walking into the room, there was a single teacher getting bottles ready while 5 infants sat on the other side of the gate area, several of which were whining/crying. Most of the lights were off and the room is crowded and dark. The teacher said hello to me and my husband and asked me about our son's feeding/sleeping routine. We asked if we could help set him up in the room, which they allowed. At no point during this interaction did anyone say hello or welcome our son. We ultimately left him in the room playing with toys while the teacher continued to get the other children their food. Not once did we see her, or anyone, acknowledge our son before leaving. It was so discomforting that both my husband and I considered walking back into the room and taking our son home right then. I reported this to the director that morning around 10:00am. She apologized for the experience, explained it was an off morning and that she would talk with the assistant director as well as the teacher. When we picked up our son at 11:30am, he was exhausted, and had clearly been crying a lot. Upon our son's return to school, the second drop off was better. The following week, our son attended his third and final day at school. When I returned to pick up my son, the school director, Michelle, was also in the room and the teacher was holding my son sleeping. They informed me that my son had hurt himself while crawling, resulting in a bloody lip and scratched nose. On my car ride home, I called the school and asked to speak with Michelle director about what had occurred so that I could understand better. Beth, the assistant director, explained that Michelle was on a tour so I asked that she give me a call back after the tour. After two days and five telephone calls/voicemails, I finally was able to get in touch with the school director. At no point did anyone return my phone call or call to see why my son was absent after an incident at the school. The incident itself was not an issue, as I know babies will get hurt as they learn to crawl and walk but it was how the school handled things following the incident that was the problem. Sunbrook Academy advertises itself as a safe and nurturing place for your baby to receive loving care and learning experiences. The Infant Care Program is committed to making the first transition away from home natural and easy for both child and parent. Our experience was anything but that. After several weeks of back and forth with the regional director or Cadence, I was finally able to review the video of the incident involving my son. It was as described but the whole ordeal left me very disappointed in the school and how they care for children. I unfortunately have heard more horror stories about this school over the last few weeks and had I known any of this prior to enrolling our son, I would never have let him attend this school.

Everyone employed has a true love for what they do and always have the children's best interest in mind. They have a menu that serves healthy food and introduces them to new options. My daughter eats so much at school that she wouldn't normally touch at home! They get playground time twice a day & are constantly updating kid reports with fun pictures so I know exactly what they're doing and when. Love Sunbrook and so happy to be a part of their team!

My child has been in these angels care for two years. I am a single father, work a blue collar job as a plumber and my child gets more than just "adequate care". She receives nurturing, love, attention and education. Quite frankly, i need a dose of that nurturing and love every now and then. I can come in dressed for a meeting or grizzled and unshaven from a rough week in the field(leave muddy boots in the car) and i am treated with the same level of care. Its not "mr wood", its mike and i prefer it that way. This is child CARE, not boot camp. I previously had her at another AMAZING facility@ the Goddard School, but the price was nearly double and she receives the sane small class size, they do homework with her and play with nifty tech, cant imagine better care. Chris is awesome- every month we have cool activities at night, game night, a Sadie hawkins dance, the fall festival, trunk or treat(complete with haunted house) and most recently the holiday show(teachers had a bit in it too!) Im grateful she was much more concerned with the children in her care than impressing a potential employee...if you cant wait five minutes at the door as a security measure, you don't have the patience for kiddos.

They are very involved with their students, and have all kinds of activities! A few weeks back they had a fall festival and a drive in movie where they even made little box cars for the kids to sit in. They just had Trunk or treat and that was a blast and my kids loved it! They are even having a thanksgiving feast! Mrs. Jennifer is my sons Infant teacher, she is so awesome! River is always a happy boy when I pick him up and they always have something to write on his daily sheet, letting you know what he did that day and how he was acting and how he ate. I love being able to keep up with that! My Step son has also just started Crimson and Mrs. Ruby is his teacher. After 2 days of him being at Crimson, he came home saying yes mam! Which of course I try to remind him to say but he likes to tune us out like any 2 year old! He gets so excited when we walk into the school and the first thing he asks in the morning is if he gets to see Ruby today. When I pick him up he is always so excited, he loves to show me around his class room and show me what he did that day. So I would day Jaxx also gives Crimson a thumbs up!!! The school also has themes that every class participates in this month is medieval times, and they have already started decorating with the kids crafts and pictures around the school and halls. I love it! I honestly can not say enough good things about this school/ teachers/ and management! This is a wonderful place to be!

The owners and front office are amazing - their heart and soul is this place and the kids and you can tell. The curriculum is great and she has learned so much ...and potty training was a breeze! This place is a godsend for us working parents who had a hard time putting our firstborn in daycare. But now our daughter always unbuckles her car seat as fast as she can as soon as we pull into school. She really looks forward to going. They are great at keeping parents involved and in the loop (even during this crazy covid time) and they send plenty of pictures of the kids during the day. What's even more amazing, they have implemented such great covid protocols that my daughter hasn't even had a cold during this time. At a daycare!?! Their safety procedures are working! We tried another daycare before this one, and we are so glad we switched - our kid has been much happier here. It feels like a second home.

When she didn't eat certain things, the chef made her favorite food so she would be more comfortable or they gave her an alternative to make sure she had something to eat. We signed up for a family acct. One our first visit, we used the pool. The lifeguard informed me…read morethat our children had to take a swim test is they either (1. wanted to swim without an adult/parent in the water with them) or (2. wanted to be allowed to swim outside the arms length of the parent/adult). I was in the water with my 8 & 11 year old children because I feel like it is the responsible thing to do when you take your children to a pool regardless of their swim capabilities. I allow my 11 year to attempt the test for fun. The lifeguard wanted them to swim the length of the pool which my children can do. However, the lifeguard would not pass my child because the swim stroke was not perfect. I have personally been a lifeguard, swim instructor, and swim team coach for over 20 years. My children know their strokes but I have not forced them to be on teams or swim long distance. Do I want them to, yes. But I have not forced it. My children have good strokes for more than half the pool distance but get tired toward the end and get sloppy but are not in danger. The strokes just don't look as nice as they did. Our children visit our neighborhood pool just about everyday in the summer and swim unassisted with no issues. It is winter and perhaps the kids are a little out of practice in the 4-5 months since it has been warm enough to attend the neighborhood pool but again, not in danger and swim fine. But not competitive swimmers. We were told that my daughter did not pass the test even though she could swim unassisted the length of the pool. So we just tried to enjoy our time in the pool and planned to try again another day. However, then the lifeguard reprimanded me multiple times because my 8 and 11 year old swimming children were outside of an arms length of distance from me. Again they swim on their own, and I am in the water with them if they need me. The swim test expectations are too high and I now understand why there were no other families there on a Saturday afternoon. The swim test expectations are too high and the lifeguards to strict on their arms length rule for families to enjoy this pool. Again, I have been a lifeguard, instructor, and swim coach for 20 years so I have a solid base of knowledge with which to make this assertion. I attempted to connect with YMCA on this via email. My email was forwarded to the Aquatics Director and I have not received any response. We are planning to cancel this membership as our children cannot go and enjoy the pool because the rules are too strict and I understand this industry better than most. With rules this strict, the lifeguard is really a waste of money as they basically don't allow children in the pool and only adults may swim. I would still love a response but If I do not get one, we will continue with cancelation. Good luck if you have children and planned to use this pool.

The best thing this center has going for it is the new Director, Stephanie. Unfortunately, our experience with Executive Director Simmie (who also happens to be the daughter of the owners) was consistently disappointing. When we raised concerns, we often felt dismissed, and communication was poor. Instead of feeling like our concerns were heard or addressed, we left many conversations feeling frustrated. Another ongoing frustration was there was rarely anyone available at the front of the building during morning drop-off. When we first started attending, there was someone at the desk but toward the end there was never administration present in the morning. The teachers were tucked away in their rooms but no one in the front of the building - raising safety concerns. If parents had a question, concern, or needed to communicate something important about their child, there often wasn't anyone there to speak with. It gave the impression that parent communication was simply not a priority. One of our concerns was that the primary afternoon teacher had difficulty communicating with us in English. We found this challenging, especially when discussing our son's day and developmental progress. When we raised this concern, we did not feel it was taken seriously by Simmie. In contrast, Stephanie acknowledged that this communication barrier was a significant issue and recognized the impact it had on families. We appreciated that she listened and understood why it mattered. We also repeatedly asked for support with potty training and were told it would be addressed, but we never saw a consistent plan implemented. The classroom itself appeared to have a limited selection of older toys, and we saw very little evidence of structured educational activities or curriculum. Our son frequently came home with reports of scratches, hitting, and other incidents involving classmates. While occasional incidents happen in any daycare, the frequency became concerning to us and ultimately contributed to our decision to leave. The difference since changing schools has been remarkable. In just two weeks at his new center, our son has been happier, more engaged, and thriving. Every family's experience may be different, but based on ours, I encourage parents to thoroughly explore all of their childcare options before making a decision.
