They sold this business in the last couple and the quality has suffered. It's not what it was, Mediocre at best, but not good or great. They need to consult with the previous owners and get retrained on the previous ownership business model. read more

Great food, great service the waitresses are so sweet and delightful. They have a wonderful salad that has cranberries and everything else and if you could imagine and it is so yummy my husband loves the chicken, fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy. read more

Delicious homemade fresh food cooked when ordered. We eat here at least 3 times a month. Usually breakfast but have done lunch several times. Its a locally owned mom & pop kind of place. Place is always clean, service is always good, & plenty of seating. From what i can tell from eating here the Pop runs the kitchen while the mom runs the front end & always at the register. We were told way back the bacon is local from the area & produce is bought fresh from the local farmers market down the street. Never had anything on the menu that wasnt excellent. If you are in the area for trade days in Canton take the 10-15 min drive to Edgewood & try the local Lumberyard. read more

Great food, great location, great service, great ambience. BBQ sandwich was sweet and gooooooood! Onion rings are light and yummy. My Yankee wife, where rings replace fries, said those were good rings. Not chewy or tough at all. Half order of chicken fried steak was nice. It wasn't tough either and the taste was down home good. Located on Hwy. 80 in Edgewood across from the high school. You won't miss it. Ate lunch at 1:00 pm on a Thursday, got right in, served immediately, and sweet iced tea never got low. The ambience is really nice. Corrugated chair railing walls give it a country feel. Local artist displaying their pieces give it a local feel. This place is a joke. The kitchen put mayo on my sandwich after I asked for no mayo. The second time they brought out my food, the bacon had mayo on it! The waitress verified that she saw the mayo and took the sandwich back to the kitchen. Then Monica, the owner, came to my table and cussed me out and refused to serve me, because she wasn't going to throw away any more of HER food over me.... Seriously the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I had to sit there and watch my children eat while she refused to serve me anything. I couldn't cause a scene in front of my children, so I sat there quietly while they ate. I will not be a returning customer. read more

My family and I had dinner here last night. Service was great. Chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steaks were well seasoned and cooked fresh. Mashed potatoes tasted like potatoes, and the green beans were well seasoned. My daughter loves their Pinto Beans. I wish they would bring back the old rolls; the new ones are not nearly as good but that isn't a deal breaker breaker us. Had lunch the other day here and my wife and I ordered hamburgers. They were brought out in about 5 minutes or less so were precooked. And the worst hamburgers we have had, so dry and no flavor, ordered extra pickles which I have been doing all of my 75 years and waiter charged me extra 50 cents. Really ? First time EVER. Then my wife had a slice of tomato that was still green in middle and asked for another slice. 50 cents extra to replace a slice that should have never been used in first place ! Waiter never mentioned any extra charges. Mentioned to cashier but she just mumbled something unintelligible. I just deducted the $1 from his tip which I always tip 20% except when I feel like I was taken advantage of ! They have lost our business ! My husband and I have been to The Lumber yard several times and enjoyed it everytime. But we went there tonight and was seated right away. After 25 minutes no one had even come to take a drink order. One young waitress walked up and looked at us and said oops sorry and went to the table next to us that came in after us. Three more was seated after that and was waited on right away. This is a great place to eat if you ever find yourself in Edgewood Texas at mealtime. Delicious wholesome food served by an experienced and friendly team of waitresses. Every meal for our party of 6 was quickly served exactly as ordered and we were all pleased with the quality, taste and value of our food. I really like Lumber Yard Cafe, but they consistently have cold mashed potatoes. You can mention it to the waiter/waitress & they'll be sure to bring it out fast, but the mashed potatoes are still going to be cold. They'll happily microwave them for you. I love scraping part of my meal into a bowl so it can be microwaved. After 5+ visits being this way, I asked for the manager, who acts like they have never heard this complaint before, treating you like you're wrong and there's not a problem when you have to have food microwaved. Needless to say, as much as we enjoy going, I won't go again because I won't be treated as though I am not valid and neither is my complaint. Also, don't try to use the frozen butter on the cold yeast roll....it won't spread & it makes the roll colder lol....but the rolls are delicious. Just enjoy them as they are! read more

If you're ever out for a drive in near-east Texas, go to Edgewood and stop for a meal at the Lumberyard. This country style diner has an extensive menu and real country desserts like fried peach pie and ice cream. Just about everything on the menu sounded like comfort food, and I know the fries are the best in East Texas! Lots of wood give it the country ambiance, as does the fact that every seems to know everyone else. There are a few tables you can push together, but it mostly consists of big booths for four. We came here after church in Lone Oak. Was a little drive but worth it. They have homemade steak fingers and fresh fried squash. The price is right. The staff is young but hard working. After driving by this places several times we finally had time to try it out as it screams chicken fried steak. Old fashion diner with what you would expect with that look and feel. We all got the chicken fried steaks and very good. Almost fork tender. I thought the gravy was just right. Al in all very good with great service. Too full to try any if their pie and cake for desert but they looked very tasty. I would recommend this place and will definitely be looking forward to another visit. This was our first visit tonight and my wife and I were well pleased from the service, to their food. As we were seated I kept seeing other peoples orders coming out and everything look fantastic. I had to try the large homemade onion rings I saw so ordered the burger with rings and both were fantastic. In fact the burger replaces Angry Dog's in Dallas as my new favorite burger. My boyfriend and I went the other night around 730pm and it was delicious! I ordered the club sandwich with fries and he ordered the spicy pepper jack chicken sandwich with fries. My club sandwich was the best I've had dining out, it was simple and definitely hit the spot in terms of comfort food. We both eat ranch with our fries and their ranch is awesome. Food is pretty good, however our experience with their customer service wasn't too pleasant. The worker in the drive thru was rude and was being short with us and rolled her eyes at us THREE times towards our questions.
