I did some Yelp bidding and Victor was pretty responsive and came out to our place for an estimate. He seemed pretty knowledgeable about code requirements and pointing out some things we should update and what things seemed fine to leave alone. After chatting with some other electricians Victor's rates seemed reasonable so we went with him. Victor and his team were prompt to work with us and fit us in between various projects. It still did take a few weeks to finish everything between waiting around for permit and PG&E inspections. However Reliable Electric coordinated all the logistics for those matters and would update us as things got scheduled. Our original scope of work was upgrading the panel, installing the Tesla charger, and adding recessed lights. Since we didn't have a big attic or a crawl space, they had to open up some of our walls to do the work. That's when we discovered that there were still knob and tube wiring in some parts of our house (was built in 1953). He recommended rewiring since that would work better with our new lighting and it would make things safer. While we had the walls open we decided to run some ethernet cables to different rooms for convenience. We discovered a breaker not working during the first week after we moved in but Victor was quick to come out and replaced it free of charge. He also did a few other gratis things for us like securing the outside wiring around the house and replacing some old switch boxes. A few months after moving in, some of the outlets in our house stopped working. Victor came out in a timely manner to look at the issue. He was thorough in testing out the breakers and the problematic outlets. Turns out it was a loose neutral wire in another outlet. It was promptly fixed and everything seems to be working again. Since this was our first home purchase and contractor project, here are some things I learned: -Reliable Electric does not patch walls. Since they had to open the walls for rewiring, we had to also find someone to do drywall patching. For future projects I will ask contractors what are some items that their scope of work will not cover. -While it was easy to coordinate with Reliable Electric directly, it may still be beneficial to work with a general contractor if you have a bigger project. We were doing other updates around the house (painting, flooring) and I felt like I had a second job coordinating everyone. -For future projects I will research and buy the materials myself to save on some costs. We've been in our new house for a few months now and are enjoying our updated electrical work!

I went to the Tesla site and found out that Clever Electric is a certified Tesla Installer. I connected with Clever (My Ngo) and a few other Tesla certified installers. I received a really good quote immediately from My. He also offered that if I took care of the permits, I could get a further reduction. Since his quote was already a couple of thousand less that the Tesla installation cost even with the permit, I decided to go ahead with him. I also realized that I could get a further $500 Tesla rebate if I could get the installation done in two and half weeks. I immediately connected with My on Sunday when I realized this and he picked up my call and assured me that he would help me as much as he can to get the installation done on time. I then proceeded to order the Tesla Powerwall 2. My came by my house and took a look at the installation. He then realized that he needed to do a lot more work than anticipated. He was very apologetic. I decided to do the permits myself. Within a week, I got the Powerwall 2. I filled in the paperwork for the permits - My helped me quite a bit there. And I was able to get the permit by mid next week. I connected with My for installation. He was very surprised that this got done so quickly. He was able to free up time for me right away. He and his helper spent 3.5 days installing it. The additional work was really substantial because he had to move a large number of circuits from one side of the house to another - going through the sub-floor, attic etc. He did an absolutely amazing job - he was very meticulous. He used absolutely high quality materials. The inspector came and unfortunately because of my misunderstanding, the battery needed to be moved about 12 inches. Note the battery is very heavy and difficult to move. My was very supportive. He came again the following Saturday with two helpers because of the weight of the battery. And they moved it by a foot. This took the better part of the morning. Finally he was there for the final inspection and made sure that the inspection went well. My was extremely supportive throughout this whole experience. His work has been of very high quality and is very conscientious. He did an excellent job with Tesla Powerwall 2 installation. He did not cut any corners even though the job was much much more than anticipated - I realized that based on the amount of time that My and his helpers spent on the job. He never once complained about the unexpected extra work. I would highly recommend My, he is very decent, dedicated person.
