Unfortunately I was hoping that the comments about disparate treatment based on skin color were exaggerated but I observed it first hand. I saw an older white female employee treat a man of color in an incredibly rude and dismissive manner today, although he was a paying customer! I honestly was shocked and should have said something. I have two favorite shops in Long Beach and this is one of them. The charm and quality of everything here is unmatched. The assistance from the sales associates are also top notch. Kelly has helped me several times - she is honest and shares an actual love for what you are picking out. Kristin is also lovely. Simply- You feel good with the pieces you are taking home, but also the business you are supporting. The necklace in the first picture: The meaning is from Aesop' s Fable of "The Oak & the Reeds'; "an oak and reed were arguing about their strength. A strong wind came up, the reed avoided being uprooted by bending and moving with the gusts. The oak stood firm and was torn up by the roots. Nature shows that it's better to bend than break. " My Nanny gave me a heart shaped rock that said "strength" before she passed away. The word, meaning, and feeling of strength has always been near to my heart. Leaning on the counter, full scowl, literally watching us like we were doing something wrong. I work in customer service, I know exactly what that look means. What a unique store! Luna Belmont Shore is such a cool store. They have things that you can't find anywhere else. The jewelry looks like it is handmade- although, I am not 100% sure about this. It just seems so unique, and the pieces seem like someone spent time making them. Luna Belmont Shore also has such a cool sounding name. Called this business to ask about jelly cats in store and wondering what they had in stock. The RUDEST customer service I've ever received via phone. Made me feel dumb and bad for asking which jelly cats were there. "It's 5 days before Christmas, bunnies have been sold out since October" - this is me asking from someone that doesn't really know anything about jelly cats. "Well if you see it's sold out online, then you would know we're not selling it." Like I'm sorry for bothering you??? All this attitude right before Christmas. This employee was so unprofessional and I wasn't even at the store. So glad I called before coming to this place. It's a shame they have people like that working there. read more

I no longer see the kind of bracelets I've purchased in the past but I still take every opportunity to come in & see what's new here. It's definitely a feast for the senses (esp. the eyes ). Luna Belmont is a cute shop with lots of random trinkets from jewelry to loose leaf tea, and quirky umbrellas. Got a cute ceramic tea cup with matching cover + tea strainer. Prices overall were a little bit on the higher side, but the quality of some seems good and homemade. read more

Beware of the delicate ornaments on the shelves edges. They place the expensive ones to the front and at a lower level so they are easy to be knocked down. Delicate stuff should be placed in safer shelves or harder to be touched or broken. A Christmas delicate ornament that was placed in a very exposed spot tipped over as I was admiring a snow globe on a higher shelf. Not only was I shaken by the event, but I was rudely lectured by one of the owners on how I am supposed to pay for something I break. The Chinese ornament was prices at $49. Thankfully I paid $22 because it was on sale. I will never enter that trap again. Now I am stuck with an ugly ornament I was forced to pay for and that I will never use. read more

I recently discovered this hidden gem on 2nd Street in Belmont Shores. I'm somewhat new to the area but was incredibly impressed to learn that this little boutique has been thriving for over 30 years. Not surprising though as it is filled with endless quality gift options for every type of person. I also found the store easy to navigate with each item perfectly displayed and extremely well organized. I must also mention that they have items priced for every budget, the staff on point, and ready to help without being pushy. A lovely sales associate named Angela was exceptionally helpful. After giving her details about my husband's hobbies and interests, she guided me through the store and showed me the perfect gift for his birthday. She noticed the jewelry I was wearing and pointed me to several pieces she thought I would like for myself - she was right. I chose only one as I was not there for me. A pleasurable shopping experience from start to finish. I have returned twice since and the same associate was there both times and helped me find perfect gifts for my aunt and sister. (There is a coffee shop across the street if husband chooses to wait outside for you, that way you won't feel rushed) The 'limoge' porcelain caught my attention. If I could, I would buy them all! Really nice place to browse while window shopping on 2nd street in Belmont Shore neighborhood in Long Beach. They have various knick knacks, and would be the place to stop for souvenirs and gifts. The proprietor/staff are very friendly. For whatever reason, no gifts with Long Beach moniker...Seal Beach...yes...Belmont Shores...yes...but no Long Beach. We ended up buying a USC beer glass. My friends and I stopped into this store because we saw some cute items we wanted to take a closer look at, we were trying to admire all the jewelry, cards, and knick knacks they had but found it hard to do so because the owners sat behind their counters scowling at us, it was a man and a woman and the woman didn't hesitate to start follow us around glaring, we felt like sheep being hunted by a wolf. I took my phone out to take a picture of this cute knick knack when the woman snapped at me that they didn't allow photographs despite there being no signs or warnings of such a thing. Worst customer service ever! My boyfriend shops here all the time to get me gifts. This year was my 50th Birthday. He brought home opal earrings with gold ear hooks. I'm not a fan of gold earrings, never worn them. We went to exchange them and store was closed. Finally got a chance to get there to exchange and they won't let me. BF provided them the receipt and because it's over 30 days, they won't exchange them at all. We weren't asking for funds back, just would like something that I would enjoy. Great customer service. By far, the best gift store in LB. They've been on 2nd Street forever: not an easy feat if you know the area. Complimentary gift wrap...and not just a bag with tissue. It's a bona fide hand-wrapped-with- a-hand-tied-ribbon gift wrap! I'm including pics of clearly posted signs that say "no food or drink" because when I was in the store today, a young, portly, blonde woman stormed out after an employee politely asked her to leave her teeming cup of frozen yogurt on the front counter. She immediately whipped out her phone, took note of the store's name to presumably put them on blast on social media. The store provides an elevated shopping experience. Not snobby, but there's plenty of high-quality gifts to choose from. Asking someone to avoid spills or creating a mess is not unreasonable in any store. In fact, most stores don't allow food and drinks. To get upset about a reasonable request, screams of self-entitlement, to say the least. If you notice, the vast majority of negative reviews of Luna are by customers that have a problem with their policies! Ridiculous! Me and all of my friends have been loyal customers for over 20 years. Luna is a Belmont Shore mainstay that is LOVED by the community and deservedly so. The store's longevity is a testament to this.
