I decided to have a silver LV bracelet repaired here because of solid Yelp reviews about both quality and service. Was really hoping to add to the great reviews, especially since it's a local business, but I didn't love my experience. I stopped by on a slow day to have my bracelet assessed and the woman in the store was a little rude. I was the only customer in the store but wasn't greeted, had to initiate the conversation about what I needed, and didn't receive a smile. The reviews had mentioned friendliness and warmth from store employees, so I was a little taken aback. I was then quoted $30 to fix my bracelet, which was then bumped up to $60 because the chain was broken in two spots instead of one. I'm not very familiar with jewelry repair prices, but the price bump did seem a little steep. I still decided to move forward with the repair and was told I'd be contacted for pick-up in two weeks. Two weeks went by and I didn't receive a single text or call about progress or pick-up. I finally called myself and my bracelet was ready, I just hadn't been contacted. Quality of the repair seems fine, but given the experience, I probably will support another local jewelry business instead. read more

Do not go here. McCarty's may have been here since 1923 but under the new ownership they are NOT the same. I brought in a bracelet for repair that they originally sized and they refused to repair it even though I was willing to pay for it. This is far from the treatment and service I have received over many years when Paige was the owner. So sad. I have always been a customer of McCarty's - and after this experience, I walked across the street to Blue Diamond Jewelers - where I had never been before and they were amazing. Not only willing to do my repairs but offered to clean my jewelry as well. A completely different experience and what the experience USED TO BE LIKE at McCarty's. And Blue Diamond has beautiful jewelry. Shame on the new ownership for taking over an institution in the shore and not honoring it. read more

Incredibly special experience was created by McCarty's Jewlers. Here's the story: My ex-husband suddenly passed away last year, leaving a very distraught daughter. She was not able to say goodbye to him but wanted a few things of his to remember him by. It took a while to get his things back, but in a little box I retrieved, was a pair of cufflinks I had purchased decades ago. (story within a story) My ex-husband was a history buff and fan of the book "Mutiny on the Bounty". He had always wanted to take a trip to the Cook Islands and Pitcairn, where the ship, "The Bounty", ended its travels. We could never afford a trip to the tropical islands, but I did another thing for his birthday and got him a pair of cufflinks made with Cook Island coins. Of course, they weren't expensive, but they were special to him. Once I found the cufflinks, I began looking for some way of setting one into a necklace. I took it to a few places, and no one was interested in helping, or didn't have the equipment needed. I mean, there wasn't much special about the 5 cent coin itself, just sentimental value. I'm sure it wasn't worth anyone's time. Then, a friend recommended I try McCarty's Jewelry. Remember that sweet scene in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" where Holly and Paul had Tiffany's engrave a Cracker Jack ring? Well, that's what Shelly did for me. I shared the story and Shelly worked diligently to find a setting that could hold the particularly weird size of coin, and it took a few tries to get it to work! She was in contact with me, letting me know they were working on a solution. Finally, she found a beautiful setting that would hold the coin and a lovely chain to match. So much hard work for a little 5 cent coin. Last weekend, I gave the very special gift to my step-daughter. She held back the tears as she put the necklace on. She absolutely loved it. I brought a costume jewelry bracelet here for the clasp to be fixed, and she took it back then brought it out 4 minutes later good as new! And for free!!
