This was ok. I was visiting from out of state and needed something within walking distance of the hotel. A colleague recommended this, primarily for the drinks. Since I'm not a drinker, my experience is purely based on food and service. The pico and chips were pretty good. It was a fresh pico with a good flavor. The salsas were not very flavorful. They had good spice to them, but lacked the flavor. I got pollo and asada tacos. The tortilla was a yellow corn tortilla that was a bit crumbly. The meat had pretty good flavor but could have benefitted for an increased ratio of cilantro and onions. The service was rough. Girls night at Luna, dining outside (while the weather is nice!) Even though we went on a Tuesday night, we made reservations. Parking was a nightmare (nothing available on the street, so I ended up doing a parking garage a few blocks up). There are two (scannable) menus, 1 entirely dedicated to tequila and the other to food and other drinks. Service was friendly, on top of things, and knowledgeable. Food came out very quickly. I had the Cerdo and fish tacos with a spicy marg. The pork (cerdo) was hands down my fav of the two. The fish was pretty good (a mahi mahi) but did have the fishy taste, unless you got a bite of the pineapple salsa used. Both tacos had tons of meat, a good sturdy soft-shell, and neither meat was dry (yay). The tacos come with a side of lime, sautéed onions, and picketed spicy onion(?). The spicy marg doesn't mess around. Great flavor that heats your throat on its way down - I don't recommend drinking it quickly Loved the homemade chips! The guac was simple & nice and thick in its consistency. The salsas were all great, homemade is always a bonus for me. My cousin and I stopped in for a late, small lunch on a Saturday. It had been awhile since either of us had been here, and were just a few blocks away. The previous times I had been in I remember the margaritas were pretty good, the chips were really oily, and the portion of guacamole was small. Not my favorite spot, but good enough when someone else suggests it. I have upgraded my opinion now! When we went (22 May) they were requiring masks, limiting capacity, and thus limiting time per table. I think it was a 90 minute limit, which was fine, especially for lunch. I could see that cutting a little close for dinner, especially since service isn't super fast. Our server was great, but the kitchen did take some time. We ordered drinks, split chips and guacamole, and each ordered a taco. The chips and guac come with pico de gallo and a trio of salsa as well. The salsa is great, the guacamole tasted so fresh, and (I didn't eat any) my cousin said the pico was one of the best she'd ever tasted. The chips were still really oily, but at least I anticipated that from previous experience. We also each ordered a black bean and sweet potato taco. They were excellent! I was pretty stuffed from the chips by the time the tacos came, but I would be very happy having a couple of these tacos and passing on the chips next time! I went here this past weekend for a dinner date with my boyfriend. We had a reservation for 5pm on a Saturday night. We were greeted well by the host as well as our server. We got an appetizer of guacamole and chips, I'm not a huge fan of guacamole in itself so I won't say anything on it but the chips were amazing! Our waitress was very attentive and came back to check on us and refill our water on multiple occasions. I order the 3 tacos and was very impressed by the clashing flavors I picked. I believe the tacos can be presented better, but the flavors were there! Small portions for the price, but I didn't expect much. Overall happy with our meal. This was my first time at Luna for quite a while, we tend to just go to the Ada location. We sat at the bar and had great service by all of the bar staff! Margaritas were spot on as always. My fave is the flight with Paloma, Spicy, and Prickly Pear. The guacamole was super soupy and just lacked much taste. The chips were tasty, but just didn't even want to eat the guac, it just did not taste/look good at all. We paid our tab and I turned to say thank you to the host stand and they gave me no acknowledgment and were just in their conversation. We took a last minute getaway to Grand Rapids last weekend and Luna was one of several options near our hotel for a meal. From far away, it looked like it was under construction, but up close it was road barriers blocking portions of the street to keep open for outdoor dining with tables spaced out comfortably. Honestly, it was a really weird feeling to initially sit down and have a meal. It's been over half a year since the family and I have dined out. But from the QR code contactless menus, fellow patrons abiding by the rules, servers wearing masks, and spaced out tables, I can say I felt comfortable and safe. Anyways with that out of the way, onto the food. Excellent. I had been craving street style tacos for the longest time. Really enjoyed the carne asada and pork tacos. I had also the fish taco as part of my trio, but wasn't necessarily my cup of tea. A bit heavy on the pineapple salsa it was topped with and really just tasted like i was eating a pineapple taco. Will also say the drinks were very much enjoyable. I personally had the spicy margarita. Perfect amount of heat and very well balanced. All in all, I would recommend if you're looking for some tacos and drinks. Patio was great as the weather was perfect out. Wow!! We went last night to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and everything was amazing from the food to the service. We started with some drinks, a margarita flight & a mojito. I loved the mojito! Not as good as what I've had in San Juan, but still up there. For our appetizer we ordered chips & guac, but our server didn't remember if we ordered guac or queso so he brought us both, plus a salsa flight! We definitely didn't complain. The queso is amazing!! The guac was great too, awesome lime flavor. And the salsas were very fresh, my favorites were the red & the verde, the hot one was a little too hot for me but good flavor still. Again I would like to try a variety of things and the Salsa Flight looked to be a great way to begin. Fried homemade tortilla chips were accompanied by their 3 signature salsas, mild (red), medium (green) and spicy (orange) and a side of diced tomatoes and cilantro. Dining alone made this a huge commitment as there was a lot on the tray. But the flavors were terrific and I would definitely recommend this to start with your group. Then the hard part...I am a sucker for good Chicken Pozole, but love good tamales. And the tacos, basednon other reviewer, looked terrific. For heartier diners, the Fajitas, Camarones and Tortas looked like good choices too. Ultimately the Pozole and Tacos were my path to a muy bueno meal. Because of the chip bonanza I opted for the smaller Sopa. Oh my! it arrived hot, with perfect condiments of diced onion, cilantro, Fontadina cheese and sliced fresh jalapenos. The Sopa, tomato-based with shredded chicken featured hominy that made it wonderful! Take some advice...while the chips and salsa are good, start with this! The tacos arrivd just as I wrapped up the Pozole...and the display...well after the first two dishes, kind of underwhelmed. The paper on the tray was dripping with grease, and the double shelled soft tacos, while fine, just looked sort of, well, like Baja Fresh. Sadly, they tasted similar, except when adding the oil drenched 'grilled onions'. We are here for my boyfriend's birthday, but for lunch, so we opted out of alcoholic beverages, our food is taking a very long time to be delivered to the table. There's not a lot of people here at all. The service was very slow. Jason got two chicken tacos and one pork, very good portions of meat in each taco. The fish and the shrimp tacos are $1.50 extra per taco, and well worth the extra price. The shrimp is so big, they use prawns. There were three served on it, and was delicious! The onions and pickled habaneros were served on the side, and it was a perfect addition to kick up spice to any of your tacos! The fish taco was amazing, not fishy one bit. Tasted more like swordfish or a mahi taco, super delicious texture. The chicken is so tender, almost tasted like my chicken noodle soup, so delicious! The pork is amazing, so tender! Steak is so so. Luna was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced! I noticed that there were no reservations available at the time I wanted to eat, so I decided to just walk-in. Eating a mostly vegan diet, finding a place to eat with multiple options is really difficult. However, Luna had PLENTY of delicious options! The staff was very friendly and offered both outdoor and indoor options (this was around 1 pm on a Friday). Upon sitting down, I was greeted by a very friendly waitress who was very attentive throughout my meal. I ended up ordering the salsa flight and two black bean & sweet potato tacos. Luna is a fun spot for a summer day! They have outdoor seating and margarita flights, which definitely draw me in. We were ignored for 20 minutes after we first sat. There was some confusion regarding which server was taking our table, but it was a pretty long time to wait without anyone double-checking until we leaned our necks out enough to get noticed. Awkward. The chips and guacamole were our starter. Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of their tortilla chip texture. They're thick and crumby when you bite. I'm sure it's awesome for some but it's not the thin, crispy chip I prefer. The guacamole serving is also pretty small for the full pile of chips. The margarita flight was fun! I liked being able to try different flavors. None were particularly outstanding, but I still enjoyed them. Finally, the tacos! I got three tacos, and that was probably my favorite part of the meal. I had the shrimp, fish, and chorizo tacos. I kinda wish they had a meal deal where you get beans & rice. The other two were just so-so and way to runny but combine them with some white queso and you are good to go! Seating was weird but it was GRU graduation so I'm sure they had their reasons not to seat us at empty tables (and stayed empty the entire time we ate) we sat at the low bar next to food prep. So can't say I loved the ambiance but I get it was special circumstances I did not like the margaritas. They felt like the premade stuff you get at the store though I saw the vat they came out of so maybe that was what turned me off. If you do get them definitely get the tahini rim. There was college graduation going on, hence the 2 hour wait, however in the entirety of our visit, zero of the tables filled up. Three stars and a fairly mixed review... My husband and I stopped in for a margarita flight and some taquitos on a Friday mid-afternoon several weeks ago. The margaritas were terrific. The prickly pear margarita was our favorite. The taquitos were warm and delicious. We recently went back for dinner having enjoyed what we had that afternoon. The service at dinner was very slow. We ordered our drinks and got them in a timely manner. The margaritas did not disappoint on the second try. We then ordered the chips and salsa flight adding guacamole, pico de gallo, and queso dips as well. The mild salsa tasted like plain tomato sauce. The others were very good. The guacamole was creamy and the pico de gallo had just the right amount of spice. The chips were very disappointing. They came in a pile which was composed of mostly little broken chip bits and they were very oily. I'm not sure there was any salt on the chips at all. We were pretty much finished munching on the chips and salsas and our waitress had not stopped back to allow us to order our meals. Finally after another 10-15 minutes of waiting she came back to get out dinner orders. It was very frustrating as we could see her in the back just hanging out but couldn't seem to get her attention. The other servers seemed to be back to their tables much more frequently. My daughter and I both had the tacos which were very good. Between the two of us we tried the carne asada, chicken, and Al pastor tacos. My husband enjoyed the camarones al ajo. Overall the food was good with the exception of the oily, cold, unsalted chips. I think we would go back for the margaritas and possibly the tacos. I'm not sure we will make it a place we return to over and over. Hopping spot! Ordered some take-out from here during the pandemic and it was delish and wrapped beautifully with awesome packed-up margaritas. Was happy to be able to go eat in-person recently and had a pleasant experience. The place was PACKED! And very loud! Happy we made a reservation or else we would have been waiting for hours. I was particularly disappointed in the flautas; $9 for two very dry, very small tortillas with a minimal amount of unseasoned chicken. fajitas are $29 now?? We used to come here a lot, when it was "only" 50% more expensive for 10% better food/atmosphere than your average mom-and-pop Mexican joint. Now it's about double, and clearly just price gouging. It was super loud even though it wasn't busy because there is not a single piece of wall decor and it's just sound bouncing off brick walls and a tin ceiling. You'd think all the extra money from raising prices would let them hire enough staff to be responsive, but somehow that isn't the case.
