I think this is a great-looking food hall and a great addition to Chinatown, as it adds on to the limited Asian flavors that currently exists. In a way, I see Luna Hall as helping Chinatown retain whatever is left of any Asian heritage. That said, everything in this food hall is an Asian business, except for the Peruvian chicken stall - which unfortunately for me as a South American, was by far the least memorable stall, food-wise, for me. The best stall here has to definitely be the one serving soup dumplings. It's worth it! I would come back again for drinks (yes, there's a bar), to chat things up with friends, and for the soup dumplings if I'm in the area. read more

Great soup dumplings, boba tea, ambience, and friendly service! The soup dumplings come as a sampler of 6 different flavors: classic pork, pork and shrimp, truffle pork (very strong truffle flavor!), chicken (least impressive), zucchini and shrimp, and mapo pork (unique and delicious!). I had the classic milk black tea (30% sugar, less ice) with oat milk and red beans (trying something new other than boba pearls), and it was good (but boba pearls are definitely better than red beans, although red beans are much healthier and have protein!). How it took Chinatown this long to get a food hall is beyond me, but Luna Hall fills that void of... Asian food in Chinatown.... Maybe food hall is a little generous since right now there's only 4 options, and two of them are Kung Fu Tea and their affiliate chicken place lol. I love the dumpling place and there's Peruvian chicken that I haven't tried. Looks like a ramen place is in the works, but as of now isn't ready. Decor's pretty sweet - there's a bar, and plenty of couch seat seating. Lighting is super chic and is always a good time with friends. The only downside I will say is that that the trash cans are small. Normally wouldn't care but it's super weird that the lip of the cap is smaller than the dumpling containers - literally gotta Hulk out and crush the plastic before it can fit inside. At this point I'm only hoping it grows bigger and better. Luna Hall's a good vibe chat and now one of my go-tos for post work lunch! read more

What's unforgivable about this place is how bad it is with basic customer service points. No complimentary tap water. I've never been to a food hall without tap water. Even at the bar you can't take water to a table. Ridiculous. I wish this place was up to snuff, because if they did this right , it would be just what this area needs. This is a great food hall in the heart of chinatown DC to get some small bites and drinks. The Kung Fu Tea place there is very nice. It was relatively empty there, so do not worry about finding seats. The ambiance was interesting but unique, so I would recommend coming to Luna Hall DC. read more

Not at all what I though it would be like. We came for a graduation dinner and there were quite a few of us. It was a super cute spot but more lounge area than tables to accommodate the family. We had little kids sitting in lounge seats because all the tables were taken on a sunday night. Only half of the food stalls were open. I was looking forward to trying Luna Hall. But when I attended with my family for lunch on a Wednesday, I was really disappointed. Multiple storefronts were closed, and the food itself was mediocre. For one, the Cucumber Salad with Garlic was grossly under salted and none of us could taste a hint of garlic. It was basically soggy cucumber. The xiao lum bao was OK but not enough to make up for the closed options and the other poor food. I won't be returning, especially when other Asian foodhalls -- like The Block -- are so much better. read more

My family and I came to DC for a graduation. There were 30 of us so all the restaurants in town wouldn't seat us as a group unless we booked it like a special event, so we found Luna Hall. It was a great relaxing atmosphere with several food options. They even had boba and a full bar!! The bathrooms were on the lower level and seemed a bit sketch, but they worked. My friends and I love to try new food spots. Luna is located near, or in, Chinatown. We actually discovered this place by accident a couple of weeks ago while eating at an establishment that we were disappointed in. But this past Friday, we decided to go back and check them out. Since they're a food hall, they have a couple of food choices. Those choices are TKK Fried Chicken, Kung Fu Tea, Dumpling District, Pollo Aria, and a Ramen called Yasubee. We decided on TKK for our entree and Dumpling District as our appetizer. We had the chicken dumplings and they were quite good. Seasoned well and very flavorful. After that, we had the fried chicken. The chicken was good, but I'll say that Popeyes is better. I think it's a little better than KFC. He'll, the biscuits are KFC-esque. LOL!  We got the 6 piece family meal with two sides, which were mashed potatoes with beef gravy and cheese curly fries. After the meal, we decided to get some drinks from Kung Fu Tea. My friend had the Fruity Furry (I think that's the name) and I had the Oreo Slush. My drink was pretty delicious, but my friend said her drink was a little too sweet for her liking. All in all, I enjoyed Luna. Next time, I'm going to try Pollo Aria and Yasubee. The cons about this spot is it's mostly street parking. Im a long time Chinatown person. This new business is perfect for revitalizing out Chinatown. Perfect compliment to existing & traditional Asian businesses. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Lots of different selections. My favorite is the Dimsum station. They have the best soup bows. They are juicy. They have a perfect broth in the bows. Best z a I've had since my b trip to Shanghi 15 years ago. Their Tiger bubble tea is better than all the bubble tea places already in Chinatown. Sorry no photos of food. I was so disappointed with my experience at Luna Hall. The fried chicken was dry and bland, while the chicken fried rice had too many onions, very few pieces of actual chicken, and almost no flavor. The soup dumplings and biscuits were decent, but nothing special. Aside from the underwhelming food, they do not provide free tap water, despite literally having a water dispenser visible to customers behind the counter, which the staff use when they prepare paid drinks. Instead, the only way to drink water is to pay for bottled water. I even asked the server if they could pour me a cup of water from the water dispenser they were using, but they said their manager instructed them not to do this for customers. It's ironic that they have this policy as a way to make more money, because I opted not to get the bottled water and now have no interest in returning to this food hall. Given the many other restaurants in Chinatown, with better tasting food and free tap water, there is no reason to eat here. read more

I had the fried chicken fo r the second time here and while the drink is still included, the only side is french fries even though the photos show mashed potatoes and corn. The description says coleslaw and a roll are included, but they don't currently have any so they are not included but the price is the same. My understanding is that rolls and cole slaw were discontinued without any signage indicating this. It was a frustrating experience because the description of the combo on the menu does not match reality. As before the employees have limited English so it was difficult to ascertain if the lack of coleslaw and rolls was temporary or permanent. The chicken is not available at the online kiosks, only the tea, dim sum, soup, etc. Online is better because it prevents miscommunication. Also you cannot choose white or dark meat, which they do spell out but it is still annoying. So basically do not recommend the chicken, can't speak for the rest of the selection. They now have a bakery, which is not specifically Asian, it is a chain and it is good. read more
