This place is iconic ... at one point, before the commercialization of the Montauk area, this was one of only two options for true roadside seafood stands in the area. Now, there are too many to count ... but this is the classic. I am not sure if it changed hands ... managers ... owners, etc. but the last few years made it not as good as it used to be. That's not to say it's bad. It's fucking great ... and probably always will be. But it just seemed like one of those spots where everything clicked and it was a true 5-star experience that was just on point. As in, perfect. Now, it's just great ... and I'll take that. Food: - I always get the cold lobster roll. Spoiler alert ... You are not going to get the same lobster roll you see on their Instagram and social. I was taught to always under promise and over deliver when it comes to marketing. The social media that shows giant, red chunks of lobster meat in a light dressing? Not really the case. You'll get mostly knuckle and shredded claw meat. A few chunks but their IG page is the equivalent of a McDonalds menu board showing crispy lettuce, fluffy buns and thick char-grilled burgers, when we all know what you actually unwrap. Having said that, this will rival anything you get in Maine ... or anywhere else. The meat is fresh and the dressing is perfect ... a little mayo, celery chunks and slight seasoning. The bun was toasted ... but not with butter ... which is too bad because that makes a huge difference. I probably could have eaten 25% more sandwich and been satisfied but I will admit that it left me wanting a few more bites for the price. Their fish and chips are my favourite ever. Freshly cut fingers of cod loin fried in light tempura batter. That makes all the difference. I have noticed that you used to get thicker rectangles in the past. Now, the pieces are a bit thinner. I'd recommend getting the full portion. The appetizer portion is a bit skimpy with 4 smaller sticks. Also ... the printed menu says $8 and the price charged is $10. Having said that, I have never had better fried fish. French fries are crinkle cut. Shake Shack stole this. Nothing special ... bagged and delicious. The service: Awesome. It is clear they hire people who truly enjoy working here. They are very capable and on the ball. Most don't use pads and remember your order. Our waitress was cheerful but not over the top ... very friendly and made our meal better. Atmosphere: Inside is a typical beach bar decor. Not fancy at all. The outdoor patio is where you want to sit. The two top tables are placed a bit awkwardly ... you are literally bumping elbows with the table next to you, it's that close. Also, don't expect privacy in your conversation. Also, they look at the tables across from you, so you kind of feel like you are watching someone else eat uncomfortably. Not to mention I had to look at a fat guy's butt crack who was sitting across from me at a picnic table for the whole meal. Overall, this is a classic roadside beach snack shack. Sure, prices are high because you are in the Hamptons but everything is fresh and good and worth the splurge. The music is fun, 1980's tunes and a very good and relaxing playlist. I'll continue to come back even though we're at 4 - 4.5 stars vs. the old days of 5+. read more

Summer isn't summer without a lobster roll at Lunch. It was a beautiful day, the restaurant is bright and clean. Service is friendly and welcoming (thanks Vincenzo!) I devoured my lobster salad roll and creamy Cole slaw. My husband opted for seafood chili and licked the bowl clean. It was full of lobster, shrimp and scallops, topped with cheese and accompanied by sturdy tortilla chips to scoop it all up. I gave my name at the reception and waited about 10 minutes, but the turnover was good so I was able to enter without waiting too long. The restaurant was larger than I expected, with table seats, counter seats, and terrace seats. I ate on the terrace, but there were umbrellas and other measures to provide shade so I didn't feel the heat of the sun. The famous lobster roll was delicious, but the Baked Stuffed Shrimp was also very tasty with a strong garlic flavor! I recommend sharing it with the roll. This restaurant is by far my favorite stop right before entering into Montauk. This place just brings back so many great memories of vacationing here with my family. My fiancé and I decided to come here for dinner and when we arrived it was busy but not packed. Our waitress came right to our table and served us drinks and our food came out pretty quick. I ordered the crab cakes platter with coleslaw and french fries. The crab cakes were so tender and they fell apart easily when cutting into them but they were very delicious. My fiancé ordered a lobster roll because he hasn't had one in years and he was very happy with it. The inside of the restaurant had a very nautical look and just felt like you were on a boat. This is my boyfriend's favorite restaurant of all time. He is obsessed with the lobster roll and baileys banana coolada (I'm not sure if that's the name because he always calls the drink a BBC). Drinks are always spot on and the patio is the best place to enjoy the summer weather. I'm not exaggerating when I say we go 5 times a year. We went with family and someone tried the crab cakes and really enjoyed it. The berry pie was a skip as well for me. The ambiance was great - beautiful outdoor seating and I always wanted to go here since seeing the Affair and the inside was reminiscent of the show. The staff was nice and service was fast. My husband took me out for brunch on a Monday because it was my day of work today, and he wanted me to experience Montauk because I love the beach and wanted me to try their lobster roll. As we walked in, we noticed it was a cute location, and the semi-outside and outside seating were pretty busy for a Monday early afternoon. The only problem is that the hostess did not observe that we were a pretty husky couple and continued to sit us in plastic outside chairs. It is uncomfortable for us, who are new to the location. I asked my husband to say something, but he stood quiet and was a Good sport. The drink prices are overpriced, $18 for basic drinks. I tried the Mango Rita, and it was okay, but I would not recommend it because the mango syrup they use initially tastes like it should be in a smoothie. Maybe for the price, use organic mangos and blend them, I idk, would hurt to try more. Also, the strawberry daiquiri is overpriced $18 for being basic and using bacardi rum. When ordering drinks, stick to regular ones. I should have just ordered wine. For appetizers, we ordered Buffalo calamari. This place should remove the buffalo sauce because it was drenched and soggy. The calamari is nothing to rave about, and I do not recommend it. It's frozen, does not come with the baby octopus, and has no presentation. I ordered a hot lobster roll for entrees because I observed another table, gave in, and ordered it. Omg, the lobster roll was excellent. It's simple butter claw meat, but it tasted fresh and not frozen. The butter bread was delicious, and the cold slaw was simple but fresh and refreshing. My onion rings were frozen, but it was nicely fried. My husband ordered the fried flounder pub sandwich, and omg it was amazing, delicious as well. They do not give much fries, and it is basic carnival Fries, in which you add hot cheese to. They should change their fries to tator tots or waffle fries, but go for the sweet potato fries because other people ordered them, and they look great. Overall I would go back again if I'm in the area because after lunch there is a beach close by and we went for a quick dip and the water was nice a clean and definitely you can bring the kids to go for a walk and look for shell. read more

Highly recommend the spicy dragonfruit margarita if they still have it on the special drink menu! The fried clams were fresh and delicious with cocktail sauce instead of tartar sauce.
