One of our favorite local restaurants. Have been supporting this establishment for many many years. Last night we brought our future in-laws to dine there. We were a party of 11. We were refused to eat in the main dining area with table service because my husband's handicapped and he travels with service dog. We were directs to eat outdoors and use the window service to order. We have eaten here all summer with his service animal with no problem. Laura the manager refused us entry ! We left for the Inlet on east lake drive. Terrible how she verbally faught with my husband. And embarrassed us in front of family. She broke all ADA compliance. Disgusting. read more

Came here with a few friends and spend more money than we should but dang was it good. Minor wait since we didn't have a reservation but quick drink at the bar and we were in. Starting with the oysters- which I could have eaten a million: they were fresh and shucked very cleanly. The muscles(second appetizer) were amazing, I regret not drinking the white wine sauce. The sushi rolls were very well balanced and fresh. There was only one waiter so you'd think things would be slow but kudos to him because he was on it! My friend had recommended this place so we were really excited to go. From the moment we walked in, we felt very unwelcome and out of place. We were aware they open at 4pm and start serving dinner at 5pm. We sat at the bar and it felt as if we were bothering the bartender by our presence and this is coming from two bartenders who have been working in Manhattan for over a decade. We rarely write reviews as we understand people have bad days but the overall service was exceptionally terrible. We felt obligated to share our experience because the food did not make up for the lackluster service. My friend and I had looked up the menu prior to going so we ordered a drink we saw online, the bartender made it clear it was a secret menu item and she was not thrilled to make it. Overall, the food is mediocre for Montauk. I would go somewhere else for a more authentic experience and staff that is not annoyed by you. read more

Great little indoor/outdoor restaurant right on the harbor. You get to be outside with great food, but missing the high class society of Montauk. We sat outside under the covered patio and watched the boats come through and the fisherman get their lines ready for the day. They don't have any lunch specials here, but their sushi rolls are so fresh and delicious! We ended up splitting a cup of the clam chowder and I think that it was probably just left over from the day so it was really thick but not without loss of flavor! The East Coast roll had pepper tuna, which gave it some really great flavor. read more

First of all, live music scene has always been good here. However, we have never encountered such terrible service experience at any restaurant across the globe that treating paying customers this way. We were told to either sit at the bar and order dinner or wait for 1 hour. So, we decided to choose the bar option. We ordered 5 dishes and drinks. The food took almost 40 mins to come to the bar. We didn't say anything thinking it's Labour Day weekend and keep a smiley faces until the end. Unfortunately, we have just finished our second dish and ordered 3rd drink, the big fat guy came at us and asked us to get up to finish our drinks because his friends are behind the bar ( he's asked us TWICE not once) emphasising that his good paying customers are standing behind us. Then WHO ARE WE ??!! Meanwhile, we have just got our 3rd drinks served on the counter. The second time , this person introduced himself as George , the executive chef and asked if we knew his acquaintances. And we said "NO" and " STOP HARASSING US"! We were in shock as he's not only unappreciated our business, but also very rude as he kept coming twice to ask us to take our drinks and stand up to drinks so his friends can sit down at the bar counter. This restaurant has a large capacity both indoor and outdoor. We still cannot fathom what George was trying to tell to the bar scene here. There were lots of individuals who were only there for a beer , he didn't approach them but he chose the couple who are paying more than $200+ for their dinner and have just ordered their 3rd drink to stand up so his friends could sit down and order food !!??? This is absolutely not a recommended place for dinner, especially if you were advised to sit at the bar counter. I was really looking forward to ordering the Greek salad with shrimp. My bad for not understanding that there's NO lettuce in the "salad". I just assumed if it's under the salad portion of the menu there is lettuce. The Caesar salad under the menu doesn't specify lettuce yet it has lettuce! But it was all cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, olives, feta cheese. No lettuce. And four really sad shrimp. Yes they were tasty! But $16 for four shrimp I think is a bit ridiculous. Even for Montauk. The entire salad was $37. I left there starving. I'd rather go to the Shagwong Tavern, & get their salad with shrimp. You get much more bang for your buck. This place is a gem. Cozy and cool vibe that was inviting. The staff was beyond accommodating and couldn't be any friendlier. The food was amazing. We had a large group and shared the apps and deserts. The guacamole was on point. I could not stop eating the roasted pepper app. I had to stop myself to make room for the rest of my meal. For my entree I had the Pink Lady roll. Out of this world. So fresh with so many different flavors that pop in your mouth. I ordered a couple of sushi rolls and shumai... they weren't good even for a New American style seafood restaurant that serves sushi... I mean I ate my food and it was fine, but I could tell the fish wasn't fresh and it just wasn't great. On top of it, it was very overpriced (typical of a tourist area). A restaurant that does what I think they were trying to go for here, well is Nancy's in Martha's Vineyard. My advice is if you're looking for sushi, look elsewhere. Drink specials are good: basil lemonade (vodka) is light and refreshing Atmosphere: Montauk casual, family friendly early in the evening, and live music is good. There is corn hole bean bag game for the kids to play, there is also a live fish tank made out of a boat that the kids will enjoy. They don't take reservations, go early to avoid a wait. Went for breakfast for the first time. Good but limited menu. They give a discount if you pay in cash. Our crew had French toast, pancakes, side of sausage and side of crispy bacon. Wow! I went into this place totally blind and was pleasantly surprised. There were no Yelp! food photos yet available when I visited, so I was skeptical... but I'm glad I trusted my instincts. The breakfast we had was utterly amazing!! We only tried 2 items--the brekky sandwich (I got mine w/ sausage instead of bacon) and the pancakes... but both were out of this world. While we were eating, the kitchen staff were bringing out large slabs of fresh bacon and ribs to a smoker outside. It looked and smelled amazing. Boy, do I wish I could have returned for lunch or dinner. As for atmosphere, this place is your typical sea-side town "ma & pa" type establishment featuring a no-nonsense, homey feel . You know the look--taxidermy fish and other beach memorabilia everywhere. Again, nothing fancy, but certainly welcoming enough. Oh, and on this visit, the staff were very nice and super accommodating! First-rate all around! Let's start from the beginning, I would like to say I am a vegetarian however this review will include my non- vegetarian boyfriends review in it as well. For a 45 minute wait, I was told to wait another 25. After a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes , while waiting at the bar for drinks and appetizers from a rude bartender they sat me down at a sticky, filthy table. I'm not one to complain, but I'll say it how it is. We waited for our waiter for about 10 minutes and then we quickly ordered. Some food came out very quick and was quite tasty. I will not complain on food quality or drinks, however the rest was not worth the time or money. Service was slow, and my boyfriends sushi with real fish and everything was not worth what the price was. Some staff were great, others the opposite, food was fine, drinks were good. The reason I wouldn't go back is that with the roll I asked for a little bit of a sauce that came with some other rolls but not the one that I ordered. When I got the bill there was a $1 charge for the sauce and a $2 charge for another extra sauce which I had asked for. The charge was nominal but they should have informed me there would be a charge instead of when I asked for it them saying "sure, no problem" In addition when I got the bill there was a swipe fee for $4. When asked what it was for they said it was if I used my credit card. Again this was without telling me about it and before I even gave them my credit card. Ordered takeout and was pleasantly surprised! Clam chowder was one of the best we've had. Tons of clam, not overwhelmed by potatoes like many others. Slight hint of smokiness from (presumably) bacon. Pig "wings" or ribs were very tasty (and messy). Cesear salad was delicious. Fish and chips arrived crispy, despite steaming in the container for transport. Showed up one night last week with my two children, the lady at the front reception gave me a dirty look and barked at me that they don't have anything for us.. she was so nasty, so I asked her .. we are just three people I see ten tables open. She said "well you need to leave" as if I had done something to her.. I turned around and walked away feeling as if she had just cursed us out. How about, I'm sorry we are full, or I'm sorry ect.. instead of such rudeness in front of two children and their mother. Classless .. yesterday my som wanted salmon, so i decided to go back and try once more. It was almost six pm, place was not busy.. I walked to the front and there she was again.. with her nasty attitude. I said " we are three". She sized me up again and said " it's going to be 15 min" in which I replied. After sitting at our table a nice waiter comes over and I recant the story from the other night and said that I wanted to speak to the manager or owner.. wait for this ... She is the owner ! So we are sitting at the table .. just ordered a glass of wine .. and two of my friends call and ask to join us at restaurant. They were two min away. I call over the waiter and said "since we Have two extra seats at our table do you mind if two people join us. Also we had not ordered. He says let me go ask the manager/owner Lara. I turned and looked at him and said are you kidding me right now, does it matter who those are for ??? My daughter and I were in disbelief.. We ate our food and left. We will Never be returning. I've been to this place several times and I want to like this place but it is so impossible when the owner, Lara, is so rude to customers. Our family has a boat docked at the marina and we refuse to eat at this restaurant because of her. We've ordered drinks at the bar out of convenience. They don't allow dogs even though the outdoor area already smells like rotten fish and garbage. It would be nice to liven this place up with friendly, lively animals. No one else has any issues with all the dogs running around the marina except for that god awful woman. Anyways, this place is not dog friendly at all. Lara must hate dogs and have no idea what her deal is. I want to save anyone from all the pain and heart ache that we've experienced over the years. read more

Last week my family and I attempted to do some outdoor dining at West Lake Fish House with my husbands service dog, Sadie. I'd like to say were were greeted, but it was more more like bombarded, by the person who later identified himself as the Owner of Westlake Fish House, James Lyons. Despite Sadie being in a vest which clearly identified her as a service dog, James advised we would not be allowed in with her. We pointed out that she was a service dog, just in case he didn't see the patch going down both sides of her torso. He looked at her and stated "Well, I don't believe that she is a real service dog or that is a real vest." In an attempt to educate Mr. Lyons despite him calling us liars in not so many words, we informed him that per the Americans with Disabilities Act, service animals are NOT required to wear a vest, ID tag, or specific harness. Mr. Lyons then requested proof that Sadie is a registered service dog. Once again in an attempt to educate Mr. Lyons we advised that he could not legally ask that - and that registration of service animals is not required under the ADA, though Sadie is registered and we do carry a note from my husbands doctor with us. We informed Mr. Lyons that there are only two questions he was allowed to ask - he asked US what those questions were, reconfirming his ignorance. We informed him of the questions HE should be asking while also mentioning he was putting his business at risk for a discrimination lawsuit. Still insisting on the paperwork Mr. Lyons promised we would be permitted to enter his establishment with the documents, which we produced. When he was finally willing to grant us entry, we decided to go to an establishment whose owners are a bit less rude and abrasive. It's quite unfortunate. While the food has always been average, our family would go to this restaurant several times a summer during our Montauk stays for the laid back vibe which included corn hole and live music outside. Once the band even sang a song about Sadie. James Lyons had several opportunities to course correct. Had he humbled himself with an apology, offered a drink on the house or even thanked us for the lesson - I wouldn't be writing this review. Do better, James.
