This place is amazing. Great drinks. Great food. Great service. I went here since I heard so many good things about it, and I wasn't dissapointed. I got there around 1:30pm and the wait was about 30-45 mins. We just walked around the block for a bit until they called us to let us know our table was ready. The restaurant is separated into 2 buildings: Lunch and Supper. Supper was full, so they placed us in Lunch (the 1st building in the duo). It was rather small and crowded, about 5-6 tables with a max capacity of 25 people, but the food was great. Parking isn't the best. You have to find street parking, and may have to walk a bit to get there to avoid the parking time restrictions on the streets. I got the chicken and waffles, of course, and a side of mac n' cheese! Both were delicious! Their drink menu is also very cool! The moonshine cocktail was so good and adorably presented in a mason jar! There was a farmer's market going on when we were there. Since I was in Richmond visiting the Virginia Museum of History and Culture (check out my review and pictures on Yelp), I decided to head to this little spot with my girlfriend and a friend of ours. Bad news was we came at a very busy time where all the tables were filled up with a 45 minute wait time, but the good news was there were some bar seats available. The building is in two sections: one where there's a single floor with tables and a bar and another with seating on two floors (where we went to for the bar seats). Once we got settled, I took a look at the menu and zeroed in on the main entrée I saw while researching Lunch or Supper online (the Catfish BLT, which I will talk about in a second). While looking at possible appetizers that my girlfriend and I could share, I noticed a couple on my right side ordered the same drink together (most of them come in small mason jars). Turned out it was a pineapple cocktail (unfortunately, I can't remember what the name was) so I decided to order one myself. Pretty good indeed. It consisted of champagne, pineapple liquor and pineapple juice. I'm not really a cocktail guy, but this one I could order again. From what I saw on the drink menu, their items look really good so if you're into having some spirits, you cannot go wrong with whatever you pick. After a few minutes, the girlfriend and I decided to order Pork Rind Nachos, which instead of tortilla chips, you would have pork rinds topped with pulled pork, cheese sauce and bacon. I had the pickled onions and jalapenos on the side since she doesn't like either. Very nice choice of an app. The pork rinds were just right. Crispy and hot, just the way I liked them as a kid when they were served fresh out the pot at the local fair in my Louisiana hometown. The cheese sauce was very good. And I shall say having the pickled onions and peppers on mine made my lips hot. Not a bad feeling at all. Finally, the icing on the cake: Catfish BLT. During my research on this place, I could not help but look at the pictures of this beautiful sandwich from previous reviews. I am one who loves certain burgers and Rueben sandwiches so to see catfish on toast, I certainly could not resist. Hands down, one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. The catfish was cooked to perfection and the coating was really good (tasted of some kind of seasoning), the bacon was crisp and the comeback sauce.....yummmm!!! Usually, when I'm out to eat, I mostly take my meal home. But after going back and forth on if I should eat the second half of the sandwich, I decided to eat the rest!! There were three separate occasions where I had to get up and get the things we needed from the hostess stations. Food: (5/5) Ordered the deviled eggs and the chicken and "waffles" I subbed waffles for pancakes. The gravy was to die for. Pour it on everything. The chicken was moist and crispy. Limited indoor seating that's nicely spaced out. They have indoor, outdoor, and half indoor/outdoor seating options. I heard this was a great spot for brunch! I am visiting Richmond for the week and decided to try Lunch Or Supper for a late breakfast (early lunch) and see what the hype was all about... I was excited because I saw outdoor seating, but was less excited when we were seated in an outdoor patio with insulated tarp. What's the fun of eating outside if there is no outside?? On a windy day, I hear the tarp violently slapping back and forth against the railing. What a buzzkill... The hostess and waitress were very friendly and the service was great. We ordered fried chicken and waffles with hash browns and loaded pancakes. We also ordered two blood orange mimosas (which were $7 per drink for a small plastic cup). Each table comes with a contact-less menu via QR code, but the code was so dirty and faded that the code didn't even scan. Argh! The chicken was interesting. It is advertised as boneless and each piece essentially looks like two fried chicken breasts. The waffle comes with syrup and the hash browns were seasoned generously with pepper. The loaded pancakes come with two pancakes and are drizzled in "Nutella" (chocolate syrup) and whip cream. There is a small mound of strawberries that sit at the top of the pile. Great spot. They are totally transforming Scott's Addition since I lived in RVa, but it reminded me of many of my favorite places now that I'm in Austin. Great vibe, nice style, great micro brew and FAN-tastic food. Ok, I lived in RVa long enough that I knew when the Fan was the original Scott's Addition. We waited for a seat on a late Sunday night, so get ready for it. We found a great bench over by the bathrooms to chat while we waited. Not a lot of elbow room for all the peeps, but this worked great as we waited for a table on the covered porch. Waitress was awesome. Very nice, very good, and spot on with requests. I had a draft, doesn't matter what - I'm sure it's changed but it was a superb amber ale (Smuttynose Ale). I ordered the BBQ Salmon and couldn't have been happier. Normally don't like Brussel sprouts, but the Brussel sprout salad was just wonderful. If you like Brussel sprouts, you might just lose your mind. The salmon was well cooked and I liked the BBQ glaze on it. Finished off with grits. Another item I usually avoid but was more than happy that I had. They weren't runny, more like a polenta or something. This place has a TON of reviews and remains a well rated place for a reason. Get ready to wait and come hang out in this spot. UPDATE: This place is so good that the next night a different friend took me to the same spot! Perfect chance to try another. Still 5- stars. The food was delicious! I had a Fly the Coop chicken sandwich and was sad when it was all gone. Such flavor! One of my daughters had the Double Barrel bowl and it was delicious as well. We also had a gluten free salad that looked amazing (huge!) and a kids meal where my daughter said it was the best grilled cheese she has ever had! The inside and outside table options were really nice and well maintained. We ordered pork nachos while we waited and they were delicious. Oh my goodness! I love Supper, their attentive staff, their adorable patio and heavenly food! We arrived on a Sunday night for dinner and loved getting seated in the patio. Our waitress, the friendliest and nicest person, made our experience a million times better -- I wish I'd asked for her name! We decided to share the fried catfish and the Supper fried chicken and they were both fantastic! The fried catfish especially was out of this world! It's a must try! On a road trip, I spent a day in Richmond and had lunch at Lunch and Supper. Your best bet is street parking and I found it close by on a weekday without much effort. Lunch & Supper is one of Richmond's most famous restaurants so there may be a wait. It's a little confusing because they actually have two restaurants right next door to each other. One only serves lunch and one serves breakfast and lunch (before dinner time). I wanted more options so I sat in the breakfast and lunch restaurant. It's a small diner but I was seated without a wait. Close quarters but the waitress did a great job serving me and doing so in an efficient manner. Not an easy job when one waitress is handling close to 10 tables. I opted for breakfast and while I forget the name of the dish, it was a breakfast bowl with hashbrowns, eggs, bacon, pulled pork, and sausage gravy. It was literally amazing! The hash browns were crispy, the pulled pork is smoked in-house, the eggs were cooked just right, and the sausage gravy gave the dish some flair and creativity. Affordable prices too. All-around, the best, or at the very least, in the top two of all of the restaurants I hit up during a week-long road trip. That's saying something. read more

Also, the combinations of sides and mains are interesting and while I hesitated at first with some items, I kinda regret not being more adventurous and going for the Boneless chicken with asparagus. Portions: given the location and portions, the price was more than reasonable. The sandwich and side of fries came to 16 dollars with tip and I was very full at the end. If you do get a main dish be prepared for A LOT of food. They do not skimp on portions here. Pro tip: the restaurant is massive with a good size indoor area, bar, and a good size screened in outside area. Pro tip: when in doubt go with the recommendation of the staff they all seemed enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the food. read more

I ordered 'the herd' and my girlfriend ordered the loaded chicken. Both were delicious (I tried some of hers). Before ordering the meatloaf, I was warned that some people thought that it was spicy. When I tasted it, I could see how people would think that; it had the flavor and somewhat taste of a spicy food, but it was by no means hot. There was no lasting heat on my tongue or lips; it was just the flavor of it. Personally, I loved that. The Brussel sprouts were also great, and had bacon with them. The loaded chicken was also great; the chicken, bacon, and cheese went together well. The atmosphere was a little dark inside and was somewhat noisy- good for a gathering though! I came here with a friend for lunch during the week when we visited Richmond and what an amazing decision it was. The vibe of this place was fantastic, very chill and the staff was both friendly and super helpful. We started out with the Summit Avenue Crab Cakes which were delicious and $11, not bad for an appetizer. I got the 10K - a chicken wrap of sorts that was great as well as being only $10 while my friend got The Aviator salad which she gushed over. She gushed over SALAD. You know it's good when it brings forth that much enjoyment. After we finished our waitress talked us into getting the Krispy Kreme bread pudding and we were so glad she did because it was life changing. Seriously. My entree was the chicken and waffles with cheese grits. The chicken is a boneless breast that was moist and had a light crispy battered crunchy crust. The waffle was your typical waffle, nothing to write home about. The cheese grits are creamy and savory. Normally not a grits fan but had to try and glad I did. I love Lunch or Supper but had only ever been for weekend brunch. My boyfriend and I went yesterday for lunch as his "welcome to my hometown" meal. Long story short, I was pleasantly surprised they serve some brunch all day. I got the blood orange mule which was amazing and then went with my usual Chicken & Waffle add sausage gravy - y'all it was great. The sweet of the waffle paired with the perfectly friend chicken and gravy presented an amazing balance. The portion was huge - 2 full breasts. My boyfriend got the Double Barrel Breakfast Bowl which He has now committed to remaking at home (lucky me!). I was very happy that we got the opportunity to dine at Lunch or Supper. We came for lunch and had about a 30 minute wait, which wasn't bad. Once we we were called, everything was pretty quick. We opted to dine in and they did a great job of implementing COVID 19 safety measures. Staff were in masks and guests wore masks while moving around the restaurant. The menu is southern inspired comfort food and everything sounded really good. We ordered brussels sprouts to share, I ordered the short ribs and macaroni and cheese (which is listed as an appetizer but it's plenty filling for lunch) and my husband ordered their Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The food was fantastic. The short ribs were super tender and flavorful. The macaroni and cheese was rich and creamy. Hubby smashed his sandwich. The brussels sprouts were delicious too. SOOO good omg. I recommend making reservations if you have a party of 6 or more. We came Saturday around 6:30pm with 5 people and had to wait for an hour. Luckily, they have a beer garden that you can just hang out in and play jenga or cornhole. Their service was on point. Our server made sure we always had water and checked up on us often. She was really helpful with the menu. Started with this special pan-seared scallop appetizer dish. It had arugula, tomatoes, and corn with it. It was sooo delicious. I got to try the Crab Nebula and the Ferryman Flatiron. The sandwiches are HUGE. You could definitely share one. I was uncomfortably full finishing one lol. Both were delicious and quite filling. You can substitute the chips for other sides, but they will charge you $3. Got a bite of the Catfish BLT. Also pretty good. Feel like you can't go wrong with anything. Ended with the Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding. It's exactly what you expect. They put ice cream and whipped cream on top. Love eating the hot soft gooey donut (not just ANY donut but a KK one!!!) with the refreshing vanilla ice cream. Such a great combo. If you're looking for a good comfort meal, lunch or supper is the place to go. Their food is heavy on butter and cheese and well worth it. The fried green tomatoes comes with a generous scoop of pimento cheese and is crispy. The crab dip is equally cheesy and the fried pita rounds are the perfect side to go with it. For entree I got the shrimp and grits which came with lots of shrimp a d a heaping portion of grits and fennel. I am not a huge fan of fennel but really wanted to try this dish out. It was good but not sure if I would get it again since I'm not a big fennel person. If you are, I'm sure you'd love it! Stopped by with a friend for lunch on a whim after our original plans fell through. It was pretty packed for a Monday afternoon, so we figured it must be good! They asked if we wanted breakfast or lunch but I wasn't really aware of what the difference was although after reading other reviews, it's clearer now there's an outdoor area vs. indoor but it would have been helpful to understand that because it's definitely an interesting concept. We just asked for whichever meant we'd be seated sooner. We ended up with lunch. Our servers were nice, helpful, and attentive. I ordered the fray while my friend got a grilled cheese, but overall we didn't think it was anything special to write home about although it was good. I've driven by this place a couple times before and it definitely looks like a lot of fun with the patio space. I've been wanting to try Lunch and Supper for quite a while and finally got the chance to go this past weekend. I'm so glad I did! I met a friend for brunch on Sunday, and we got there around 10:30. They were already on a wait at that point, so we put our name on the wait list and got a drink at the bar until our name was called. They have a ton of outdoor seating so it was easy to find a place to hang out and have our drinks while we waited. We only had to wait about 20 minutes to get seated. Once we did, our server was super quick with checking in on us and bringing waters and menus. Once we ordered, our food came very quickly. We both had the pancakes with Nutella and strawberries, and had the cheesy grits as our side. Everything was delicious! This place is amazing. I had not been to Richmond in over five years, so when the opportunity came for me to travel here for work, I knew I had to try a good spot. I was not disappointed! I got the Chicken & Waffle, with a side of Mac and cheese. The chicken was the most flavorful fried chicken I have had in the longest time. Crispy and still juicy, and the gravy on top was just as flavorful but helped to even out strong fried flavor of the crust. The waffle was yummy and the butter made it even yummier! The hash browns were equally delicious, and probably the best I've ever had. The Mac and cheese was the thing I liked the least as it had a slightly watery texture but I still enjoyed it .
