I'm giving this place 5 stars. We haven't been here in about 25 years but decided to stop by after a hike at The Great Swamp. Still owned by the same family. This was a cut above in a standard Chinese restaurant. Lunch specials menu (which we ordered) have a much more extensive selection then usual. Where they excelled was in good service from genuinely kind people. We talked to the owners afterwards. I'm sure it's not easy having this kind of place post-COVID but they are doing their best, and taking precautions. The food we found was very good, cooked by people that cared. Well deserving of your cold cash. We won't wait another 25 years to return. read more

used to be really good when it was managed by original owners especially the lady but off late the young guys managing are hopeless, seems to have a spiteful mindset, if its uber eats order n below 15% tip, you get badly cooked, tasteless items even though the ingredients will be fresh. Not our favorite locally honestly we've lived here for over 10 years and I've only eaten here once just a couple weeks ago and it was a letdown. Our go to is Ling Ling over in Riverwalk in Basking Ridge. My wife gets chicken and broccoli and I get orange chicken pretty basic stuff so we're definitely not the most adventurous eaters when it comes to Chinese food. read more

I grew up with lung Yan just down the road from my home I grew up in and they have always been the family Chinese take out to go to. My favorites are their general Tso's and garlic chicken my favorite appy is their special sauce w pork dumpling I would get this wit their Tso's as the sauce, sometimes it would be my lunch meal yum matt's wife is the face of the company & gives over the top fantastic customer service, she recognizes all her regular customers and always give service with a smile. Moved to Warren a few years ago, and have had a hard time finding a decent chinese restaurant in the area. Some just lack the flavor, portion size, or are too expensive. Decided to try this place a few months ago, and haven't gone to any other chinese restaurant since. To start, the lady behind the counter is so friendly, and consistantly greets you like she's so happy to see you. I really appreciate that, especially in today's atmosphere. I haven't tried everything on the menu, but from what I've had it's all been great. The wonton soup is flavorful and comes with strips of pork (I order it every single time..). The chicken and broccoli is cooked to perfection, and has great flavor, which has been my biggest peeve with most of the places in the area.. I feel like if you can't get a chicken dish cooked right, and/or with the right flavor, then the rest of the menu probably suffers too. The boneless spare ribs, chicken and cashews, pork fried dumplings, chicken wings, cheese wontons.. ALL on Point! Prices are affordable as well. Just made myself hungry, and I'll be heading there in just a bit lol. read more

Well after receiving a yelp messages asking me to try out this spot a few weeks ago I did today . When entering the restaurant it's a small restaurant with about 5 tables for in house eating. It's appears to be a mom and pop ran restaurant . Was greeted by a were warm welcome and I quickly scanned the menu for a nice lunch special. I ordered pork in garlic sauce with pork fried rice . The dish was good ,sorta average for this dish . The negative we're the surcharge and the bagged noddles ! Food was a solid three stars but since they had surcharges they get a two in my book! read more

Lung Yan is my new go to spot for Chinese take out! The food is really good and the family that owns the restaurant is super nice! I really like the style of Chinese food they make here. It is much less greasy and oily than others I have tried in the area. I never have that gross feeling after finishing their food that one can sometimes get after eating Chinese. I particularly like their egg rolls, egg drop soup and scezchuan (spelling?!) chicken. I also have needed to make modifications to my orders and they always follow through and don't have a problem accommodating. I also feel very safe ordering from them during the quarantine. My only reason for deducting one star is that they are usually off on their estimated time your food will be ready. So just know when you order give yourself a little extra time because they run behind. It's worth it though! read more

Second review. I live a block away from the restaurant near the Gillette train station and have been going for years. It's always suspect when people come on yelp with ZERO reviews and make up lies, like "Vito R" below my review from New Providence. You can't make up the name they created LOL I can tell you right now this is a local competitor because Lung yan has been doing so great during this pandemic with lines out the door for take out. Every single time I have been in the restaurant since March every employee has been wearing a mask as well as the emoloyess cooking the food. It's only 4 or 5 family members anyway and you can clearly see everyone with masks from the desk. Also, lung yang is upholding social distancing with tape on the floor showing you were to stand....99.9% of the establishments in town don't do this. A $2 "Service charge" BS. I went to the post office yesterday and walked over to buy a $1 can of coke and no service charge exists. Lets talk about the food! The food is great! I have been coming for years and have had everything on the menu from tofu with veggies and peanuts (my favorite) to everything else. This is a small family run place in a tiny strip mall in Gillette NJ. I recommend this to anyone looking for great Chinese food. read more

We've been coming to Lung Yan for at least 15 years and we've never been disappointed. I'm not understanding the negative reviews at all. Service is always fast. We typically get chicken and broccoli, fried pork dumplings, and chicken Lo Mein. Delicious food. Last night I decided to get General Tso's chicken and it was very good. They gave us free wonton soup and hot and sour soup for some reason. We normally don't get those in our orders so it was a nice surprise. The person taking the order last night wrote down that I wanted extra broccoli in the General Tso's chicken but got only a few pieces of broccoli. So yes, they don't always get everything right but the food is tasty and that's what matters. read more

First time visit- picked up a lunch order. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Since my mom can't eat meals with gluten in them, they were able to take off the soy sauce in our dishes, the Vegetable Chow Fun and Shrimp Chow Mei Fun. Would definitely recommend. The food was generous, well prepared, and it's great to find a new Chinese restaurant nearby. We've been getting food from the same Chinese place for years in Berkeley Heights and have been needing to find a new place. I've been trying to find a decent Chinese restaurant in my area. I decided to try Lung Yan. I am very happy I did . First of all they make it very convenient to place your order online. ( easier then ordering from domino's.) second Lung Yan will give you a 5 or 10 % discount for placing your order online not bad! make sure you add the discount code in. This place is family run and they couldn't have been nicer when my husband came in to pickup my order. The owner offered my husband a free bottle of soda with my order since we were new. From the time we place the order until it was completely ready was about 25 min. not bad for a Saturday night. I started w/ wonton soup which was loaded with huge wontons and pieces of pork and broth, then onto BBQ spareribs which was very sweet and juicy. For my daughter I ordered pork fried dumplings 8 came in an order and they were nicely done. For my main dish i did a combo meal of chicken and broccoli. It came with egg roll, and a choice of fried rice, white rice, or brown rice. I chose the brown rice which was cooked perfectly and it had a nutty flavor. My combination dish was delicious. The chicken was light and tender the broccoli was stir fried and not over cooked. The sauce that was on it was just the right amount. My husband had the pork lo mein combo , my daughter had the sesame chicken combo . Both of their meals were equally done well. I would highly recommend this place. They have an extensive Chinese menu from Appy's ,Soups ,Lunch Specials. Lung Yan can cook many different styles of Chinese ranging from Cantonese , Szechuan , Vegetarian , you name it. What a refreshing change from what's been our usual go to for years in Berkeley Heights! The people here are friendly and make you feel welcome, and their take out lunch specials can't be beat. They check all the boxes for selection, portion, value, did I mention delicious? and helpfulness in adapting to my gluten-free need. I will only go here if I don't feel like driving 10 minutes to a different place. But their food is so bad that I would probably go hungry or just find something else to eat. read more

First time here and I'm glad I gave them a try. I ordered roast pork with mushrooms from the lunch menu. I asked if it came with sauce mixed into the dish. The woman asked me which one I'd like....white sauce or brown sauce. So I opted for brown. There was a good amount of halved medium sized mushrooms. They were fresh and cooked to perfection. Many times I ordered from chinese take out places and the mushrooms are hardly cooked...still cold inside. There was a medly of some other veggies as well. The slices of pork were just a little hard. Perhaps sli ed too thick....but not enough of a problem for me to not go back. There was a lot of gravy ...which I like to mix in my rice. The gra y was really good and not some candied corn syrup based concoction like most places. Now for the rice.....it was a traditional pork fried rice with bean aprouts instead of peas and carrots like most places are using now. A Sunday night tradition. A very nice family delivering consistently delicious food.

This has to be some of the worst Chinese food I've ever tasted. Ordered pan fried dumplings which were burnt on the outside, had very little filling and the filling that was there was completely tasteless. Boneless spareribs; completely tasteless. Lo mein; was okay but not great. Schezuan chicken, enghh. The only thing that was somewhat decent was the tofu. Even the wonton chips they gave us were stale. On top of this, it took over an hour for our order to be completed. There was only 1 chef working and people were becoming very agitated when they arrived to pick up their food. I can't fault the one lone chef because I felt bad for him and maybe if there was more staff on hand things may have been better. Either way, 40 bucks and an hour+ wait time for terrible Chinese was not worth it. We won't be returning. read more

This is my go to chinese food takeout in the area. Good food, good prices and quick service. I like the egg rolls, steamed dumplings and have had a few different meals. My favorite meal here is either the beef with broccoli or the General Tso's chicken. They also have different specials during the week. They kind of share their entrance with Natale's. I have been going to this restaurant since their children were toddlers!! A GREAT family run business...involved in the community and just lovely people. Just a couple of reasons they are conscience of the quality of their food and the service they provide. We love Chinese food and know the good from the bad....this is by far one of the very best. The sauces are rich and flavorful...all the foods are fresh....vegetables are crunchy and yummy!!! LOVE their dumplings!! The egg rolls are never greasy. I could go on and on!!
