I have tried with this place. I've ordered numerous times and sometimes, it's the best burrito I've ever eaten and sometimes it goes right in the garbage. I just genuinely wish there was some consistency but after my order tonight, I think I'm going to have to call it quits. Lunita's offers terrific no frills fast service Mexican food! Located in Quincy, Lunita Mexican Restaurant has burritos, burrito bowls, tacos, house made beverages, and more. I love getting their burrito bowls and being able to customize it to my liking. I really like their chicken as it is well seasoned and always juicy. I always add their chipotle sauce and pickled onions -- their chipotle sauce is so tasty! I also love the drinks that they have, my favorite is their pitaya lemonade (dragonfruit) or their horchata. Definitely recommend giving Lunita's a try and to support their small business. It's more of a take out place but there are tables for you to sit at to eat and it's very clean! Have you heard of bulletproof coffee? Poorly explained, it is coffee with butter added (technically ghee and MCT oil, but I digress). While this is not the forum to discuss the benefits or drawbacks of this unique beverage, the key point is this: there are people who *willingly* add butter to their coffee! I am not throwing shade - if you choose to do so, all the power to you. I've tried it myself, and can see why some go for it. Okay, but who cares? This is a Mexican restaurant, not a trendy cafe! Well, the key point here is this being done willingly. Meanwhile, ordering tacos at Lunita with Al Pastor comes with enough oil to deep fry a batch of fries or two. Yikes! Other than having an unreasonable amount of fat, the Al Pastor itself is thoroughly underwhelming. It seemed only as pulled pork, with any pineapple or roasty/smoky notes missing. I would say this is more like carnitas than anything, and not very tender carnitas either. However, that said, Lunita does not skimp on the amount of protein! Whether in a taco or a bowl, I am not finding myself breaking out a magnifying glass to find specs of meat. I have no complaints where it comes to the veggies, and like with some other chains that shall remain nameless, it is possible to customize to your heart's content! I like that I can do from the traditional onion+cilantro, the more American option of lettuce, cheddar, etc., or just go ham! Also, I love that their hottest hot sauce brings some very respectable heat, and has good flavor while doing so! Finally, the prices seem reasonable all things considered. Especially keeping in mind the portions, $4 for a taco or ~$12 for a burrito is not too shabby. As for the location, it is clean and has a fair amount of seating. The service has gotten better over time as well! Thus, Lunita is a cute, colorful spot that lets you customize staples to your heart's content. The veggies are fresh, the protein plentiful, and hot sauce hot. However, the meat's flavors are barely there, replaced with a hilarious amount of oil! One last thing: it is possible to get as many or as few tacos as you want. Getting one or two is 100% possible if you're not too hungry! read more

Everything is made in-house at this family-owned restaurant. The food is delicious and you definitely need to try their homemade desserts--think filled mini churros with chocolate and dulce de leche dipping sauces, flan, tres leches, and a variety of stuffed cookies!!! No shame to say I've tried them all over the past couple years and I truly can't pick a favorite. I love the workers, you can tell they put a lot of pride into their work and food. I wish I could Lunita 6 stars. Most recently they really saved my butt due to a last minute caterer falling through and Lunita was able to accommodate food for 25 people within 2 hours to pickup. The best part was that the food was a hit and the food was very fairly priced. I worked with the owner Carlos to get order through. This place has perfected burrito making. They are very slender but a foot long and the proportion + all the great ingredients. It's so good.

Everytime I go to this place I am reminded why I stopped going there. When you walk in everyone completely ignores you for several minutes. Then when you order, they give the tiniest sliver of guacamole. If you ask for more, they look at you like you're crazy. Then, again, when I pay, I am reminded why I don't go here normally. It's $15 for a skinny burrito. You pay 50-60% more for a burrito here versus competitor and you get 25-50% less product. They were pretty good for the first month they opened, but I feel like something changed shortly after that where prices went wayyyy up or they started giving less. ***UP-CHARGES & FRONT LADY REVIEW*** Been here 3x already, each time I noticed there were up-charges applied to all of my visits here! This may be my last visit today, even when it's one of the better taco places around Quincy, MA. First time, just paid and left because I was late for a meeting. Found up-charges on 3 tacos, without telling me that anything additional (besides pico de gallo, lettuce, and cheese) will be an extra cost. For example, jalapeños. Fine. Second time, 3 taco prices listed on the receipt were higher than the menu screen prices shown above POS at the establishment. Misleading, but I didn't questioned, because it could happened to any establishments. No additional on the order either. Fine, I thought price increases must be due to inflation. BUT today's visit just confirmed my thought was wrong. Front lady must've custom edit the prices at my second visit. Then, TODAY, I ordered 2 tacos (Steak and Al Pastor) with side order of Chips and Queso. I had asked my steak taco (1) to have chipotle mayo added. That's it. But when I came to checkout, I noticed the front lady has a typical behavior to enter the items really fast into the POS system (this was also observed from my past 2 visits) Maybe, she behaved this way in hopes I wouldn't noticed the up-charge added? Please note, I used to work in a restaurant, so I could spot a dishonest employee/ employer really fast when it comes to money. So, I reviewed and double checked the receipt summary in the POS screen and to no surprise...noticed an up-charge AGAIN! This time, I had confronted and questioned her about the up-charge. I had asked her why there's an up-charge of side order chips and queso for $8. Her response was that they gave me a big portion (meaning full size order) and the $6 was a "small" side order. Well that's exactly what i wanted and asked for, side order not full. Her justification didn't make sense to me. I responded that I did not order a big size or full order and literally told the guy who made my tacos that I wanted a side of chips and queso as it is shown on the menu. By the way, she doesn't know all of the menu prices and had the audacity to ask me what is the side order price shown on the screen? Is she kidding? I said it literally said $6. She gave me a look and said "Well, we gave you a big one." I tried not to get upset and told her "Well, I'm not paying $8 when I had asked for a side and please look at the menu yourself, it is $6." After going back and forth, i didn't want to bicker any longer and told her I'll just pay her the extra $2 so I can leave. For some folks, I'm sure they would've just left and not pay at all due to bad customer service. But I guess because I used to work in a restaurant in my earlier years, I just didnt want to do that either. So, When I agreed to pay the additional $2, it must've also struck her in some way, because she said it's okay in the end and adjusted the side order to be $6. However, it did come off as if she's doing me a favor or I'm cheap and trying to make me happy as a customer. For those who are wondering, I'm not a cheap customer leaving a bad review, I'm always leaving tip when dining or doing takeout. She did not give me a good impression and also felt like she was racial profiling me because I'm Asian too. At that point, I just want to pay for my takeout and leave. When I came home, I ended up finding out that she sneaked in last minute up-charges of $0.25 for each one of my tacos and it said "sour cream" were added. What the hell? This is ridiculous, the front lady must be a really dishonest person, greedy for more money, provides poor service, or perhaps really doesn't know how to work the POS system properly. This place will continue to lose customers as long as the front lady is still around. Up-charges are usually between $0.50-$3.00 for me. It's not a large amount, but it's the bad business that bothers me. Management should have corrective actions against her. If she's the owner, good luck to her bad business and work ethics. Tacos are good, but this type of service has left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't know if I will ever return again or give this place another try. In conclusion, dislike businesses who takes advantage of customers or dishonest business in general. Leaving this review to warn future and existing customers to double check your receipts before making a payment, especially when you're coming into the place to order or when you see this front lady checking you out. Or else, just stick with online orders or delivery apps here? Never tried myself. read more

This place will rob you! We paid $47 dollars for two burrito bowls, a can of soda and a juice. We thought it was a mistake and I asked to see the receipt. They looked at me like I was crazy. Lunita has potential to be a good Mexican restaurant but there are a few things that keep it from being a good Mexican restaurants. The guacamole is not fresh. It's packaged guacamole that is bought in bulk and comes in a plastic bag/ container- there is absolutely no flavor. The chicken and steak were very rubbery with no Mexican flavors or seasonings. I prefer to stay away from franchise Mexican restaurants like Qdoba or Chipotle which is why I decided to stop at Lunita but there is no comparison. These franchise restaurants have the Mexican flavors and fresh pico/guacamole that Lunita doesn't have. Lunita is also much more expensive. read more

It's pretty good here. I don't know what separates Sabrosa from other styles... But the carnitas burrito was tasty. It didn't "stop me in my tracks" good... But it was decent. Portion was good... My wife got a burrito bowl and felt the same, it was tasty, but not motivating to make us want to go back again tomorrow. We also got the churros, again tasty, but nothing to write home about... If I could add my own critique of what I would do differently, I'd do the following... 1. I know the place is new, but it needs more decor. It needs a soul. I'm not saying mariachi players type gringo crap. But some authentic Mexican style brought into the place. 2. I think where the burrito was lacking for us was the taste of the rice, it needed to be more flavorful. 3. The churros needs to be evenly and strongly coated in sugar/cinnamon or whatever you plan to put on it. Ours was coated very little. Santa Fe in Weymouth has a winning combination of style, taste and service. It'd do you well see how they do things. This place isn't bad, but it isn't "wow" either. Food is good but I don't go very often because I am sick of getting overcharged then told the menu prices on the wall menu are "wrong". I ordered bbq steak tacos at $4 each and she charged me $4.50 a taco which is the price for the regular steak tacos. This is clearly marked in the board above the register but she argued that the menu was wrong when I called her on it and wouldn't change it. I told them I wasn't ordering anything with an up charge and just wanted what was listed as being included with the tacos.
