Worst experience ever! I went to look at a Chevrolet Malibu 2011 for 6000. Immediately noticed some oil underneath just wiping my fingers under it. Decided to look at other 2 vehicles they had. One was a 2012 covered in rust underneath. And the other ran funky. So I went back to the 2011 Malibu that looked decent as far as rust. Took it for a test drive. Decided I wanted it. Not only did my salesperson tell me that the bank would approve anything without 500 down, but came back with the paperwork and they had lowered the price roughly 1300. I didnt want to think anything bad of that till my check engine light came on. Took into another dealership closer to my home and they said I needed a timing belt. Well I decided to get that fixed before anything worse came of it. And then they tell me theres metal shavings in my engine! And I needed to replace it! So I called lupient Chevrolet of Bloomington to see how they could help and they had the audacity to tell me they would put a used motor for 4300!!!! That's the price of the car itself! Horrible dealership DO NOT TRUST THEM!!! read more

TERRIBLE Customer Service!!! They seem to make their money by charging obscene amounts of money to "diagnose" your problem, but never really fix it. I purchased a vehicle from Lupient. Later I received a letter in the mail from the MN state Patrol requesting an inspection of my vehicle. Following the inspection, the State Patrol informed me that this was a stolen vehicle and they confiscated it immediately. I contacted Lupient and informed them of the situation. The State Patrol went to Lupient as well and confirmed the situation.. I requested a full refund on my vehicle immediately so I could go to another dealer and find transportation. They indicated they would need time to sort things out. I requested a loaner car for transportation in the meantime. That request was denied. I told them they left me no choice but to rent a car until I was paid and charge them for the rental fees. After repeated calls to the dealership almost daily, it took them four weeks to finally agree to offer me a refund for the car, but they denied the rental charges. If they would have done the right thing in the first place there would not have been a need for a rental charge. Very poor customer service. read more

I was there about a month ago and frankly I know I will never buy a car there. Long story short, I am looking to purchase a summer car and was interested in the new Chevy Camaro. I looked online and noticed that they had one at this location. I went the next day to go take a look and maybe a test drive. The minute I got there I noticed that there were no salespeople walking around the lot so my friend and I went in. Nobody inside offered help while we stood there so I went to the counter and asked the receptionist for help and she called someone over. Now mind you, the gentleman who came over to help us was one of four salesmen just sitting at the front of the showroom chatting with eachother. He came up and I told him I was interested in looking at the Camaro outside. He looked my friend and I up and down as though there is no way we could afford a car like that. He walked us out to the car, lit up a cigarette, and stood there. So my friend and I started talking about the car seeing that he wasnt interested in helping up that much. It wasnt until these words came out of my mouth, "my grandparents would have to come look at it before I were to buy it, seeing that they are paying for it". Now he perked right up and wanted to help us. He unlocked the car and had me sit in it, started telling me all about the options and so forth. Now it is sad that I actually had to say out loud that my grandparents were going to be paying for the car as a gift. That shouldnt matter. Especially in this economy you would think he would have been a little more eager to sell a car. End of story, I spent a good 15 minutes before I got any help or actually had a salesman who took me as a serious customer. Shame on him for judging anyone by looks or age. Buddy you would be suprised how many people may not look the part but could easily drop cash and walk off the lot with a car much like i did with the car I am currently driving. read more

Called them to inquire about their service special (30 bucks oil change+tire rotation coupon), the girl from service department sounded like she was high or drunk or both. I asked her how much would that be to add tire balance on top of the oil change and tire rotation (with the coupon), first she said $60. When I asked in surprise whether it's $60 with the $30 coupon, she replied "a little bit over a $100".... I hung up, sorry, cannot communicate with idiot stoners that can't figure out simple math. Called this morning explained what was wrong with my vehicle and was told to drop my car off at 1pm. When I arrived to drop my car off at 1pm it was very busy. I spoke to one of the service members and he told me he couldn't help me to talk to another service member who already had a line in front of him. After waiting in line I had to re explain everything that was wrong with my car and the service rep wasn't even listening from what I could tell as he was working on something else on the computer. He never asked my name or even looked up what I had listed as issues that morning from my call. He told me to pull my car in and from what I could tell I was going to have to wait in line again after that and just decided leave. Not sure why I was told to drop my car off at 1pm because nobody was ready for it anyways. I could have just drove up and got the same service. read more

I was very disappointed in the level of service I received from AC Gutierrez. Phone calls to him went unanswered and voicemails were not returned. I was notified on 2/3 to bring my car in and made an appointment for 2/7 at 7am. I received a phone call at 4:30pm the same day that the person who would install the part in my car had been on vacation for a week and a half and would not be in until Monday, 2/10. This forced me into a loaner car, which I had made abundantly clear to AC I would prefer to avoid - he was unwilling to explain why he had me bring my car in unnecessarily on the 7th. I was refused an estimated timeline of when I could expect my car back. However, when I was notified my car was ready (on 2/11 at 2:30pm), I was told I had 4 hours to pick it up until I would be charged for my loaner - this policy had never been communicated to me. I was traveling out of state and when I explained this to AC he responded "you will be charged." AC was unwilling to work with me at any point in the process. Other employees met expectations (shuttle drivers, service counter), but because of AC I will not return and have discouraged my friends, family and colleagues. read more

I'm sure some people find this place friendly and accommodating. The rest of us, not so much. I'd gotten a recall notice, and chose Lupient for the repair. I made the mistake of coming in through the sales area instead of the service area and from the reactions, you'd think I came looking for spare change. Carrie who wrote me up and Sam the cashier were both pleasant, but both times there I got the stinkeye from Michael at the finance desk - I guess I look like someone who robbed him at some point. Anyway, I won't be back and I doubt I'll be missed. read more

Terrible Experience & waste of money. Went in with expected Transmission problem. When the diagnostic was run it came back with zero codes for the transmission, although they could tell by driving it something was wrong. They then did a full diagnostic, discovered the car was stuck in high gear & had over the levels of tranny fluid in the reservoir. They recommended a tranny flush & to correct the fluid levels to see if that corrected the issue. It didn't. And they said I'd need a new tranny. They also said I'd most likely need a new radiator as they thought the extra fluid in the tranny was coolant. I asked about them being able to test it to confirm if it was coolant before just forking out the money for a new radiator based on their assumptions. I was told they have no way of testing it; both liquids are red and it's hard to distinguish, so I was just suppose to take their word that I'd need a new radiator as well. Needless to say I told them I was going to get a 2nd opinion before having any more work done. I was charged the full diagnostic, to which they did not provide a print-out of the codes that were found, but instead brushed it off saying 'they weren't related to the transmission anyways' when I specifically asked for them. I also paid for a tran kit which turned out didn't even include the pan drop or filter that it should. And the transmission flush. 4 1/2 hours and $245 later for absolutely nothing. When I went to an actual transmission shop for a 2nd opinion I found out most of what they charged me for wasn't done and info wasn't accurate. They ran a scan and found a transmission code (so either the service tech lied or they made the problem worse in the first place). They also said there is a simple test than can be done to test for cross contamination of liquid, which they were able to perform. I was also advised that if Lupient would have dropped the pan and performed the tran kit that I paid for, they would have known from the findings there were issues with the tranny and that just doing a 'fluid flush' would not correct the issue. That's not to mention in the less than 5 miles I drove from Lupient to the transmission shop they told me the tranny fluid wasn't clean like it had just been flushed. I feel I should get my money back for the diagnostic that didn't confirm anything as well as the tran kit that wasn't entirely completed. I will never get service done here again, and I'd never recommend it to anyone. read more

Never coming back to this dealership. A bunch of idiots. I have a 2011 Chevy Malibu, after getting gas I started the car, and didn't have any power steering. I shut it off and turned it on again and the power assist returned but I had messages that said: service esc, service traction, and esc off, plus the steering wheel would exhibit "twitching". This is a known issue with these cars as I had received and kept a letter that addresses the issue. So I set up an appointment by phone. Upon arriving and before I had even exited the vehicle the service advisor asked why I was coming in. I said I had an appointment and he asked in a phony voice what's going on? 1. You should know from the appointment 2. Don't fake pretend to care because people can see right through that and 3. Let me get out of the car so you can start typing what I'm saying. The advisor then proceeds to self-diagnose the vehicle before it's even in the shop with the mechanic and he ends up being wrong. He didn't ask any questions or say anything, instead he calls someone, then gets up and walks away. He left through a door without saying anything. Like what am I supposed to do, stay here? Am I done? He comes back and grabs a cheap code reader and plugs it into my car, again without asking, (which I expect won't pull any body codes or abs codes, only engine codes) and says, there has to be a specific code in order to proceed and that code isn't showing up, but you have all these other codes so it's going to be $145 (per hour) to diagnose. So I said no I want the power steering fixed just like it says in the letter and I agreed to a complimentary multi-point inspection. He did get the vehicle in the shop but I was a little disappointed that his description of the issue on the work order was only one short sentence. Well, the mechanic ends up using an actual diagnostic tool, gets the code they are looking for, and fixes the problem free of charge just like the letter said. BUT he never performed the inspection. He checked everything off as green although I know for a fact he didn't check a single thing. This is unacceptable. Your primary mission in the service center is to keep the cars running well, to identify and fix problems. And had the mechanic done his job like he's supposed to, not only would I benefit by having a well-running car, but the dealership benefits by getting my money. I know he didn't check my car because I have lights out, nearly bald tires, and set them to 45 psi. According to the inspection sheet I have brand new tires, 35 psi, and all the lights work. I was expecting to compare and purchase tires while I was there but they missed out. Plus, had he popped the hood to check the air filter condition he would have seen I forgot to plug in the air intake temp sensor when I changed the air filter a couple days ago. Easy to spot if you check the air filter and that's why I had other codes. The good things are that the main issue I came in for was fixed, it was fixed fast, and I got a free car wash. Another thing the service advisor missed was that he didn't ask about updating my information as my phone number in their system I haven't had in years, so if he would have attempted to call me there would have been problems. Just not being thorough. Lastly, while I was waiting I talked to a salesman who had no idea what the Chevrolet SS is. He thought I was talking about the Camaro SS. It's partly Chevrolet's fault for not coming up with a creative name and for not advertising it, so now it's rare and not being made anymore. But c'mon you are a Chevrolet salesman, you should at least know what it is. read more

Warning: This is the place that gives car dealers their bad reputation. I was in the market for a new Chevy recently and stopped in at this location because it happened to be on my way home from work. Unlike the previous reviewer, I was quickly greeted and got quite a bit of help selecting a car. Unfortunately, that was the end of the good customer service. We had arranged a deal on pricing, down payment and payment terms to be closed another day. Before I returned, we spoke on the phone to confirm what we had discussed and everything was on track. When I arrived, things came off the tracks. The interest rate we had agreed to suddenly changed, they decided to add a point for themselves. The down payment terms we had agreed to had suddenly changed. I was tempted to continue with the paperwork, but thank goodness I didn't. After leaving to reconsider and doing more homework, not only did I recognize the lies I had been told, but the sales manager and general manager called me to sprinkle on more lies to try and save the deal. Flat out, this company has a culture of lying to customers. You would be a fool to do business here. read more

Have had vehicles serviced at Lupient (formerly Harold) Chevrolet since 1992. Purchased a car from Lupient in the early 90's. My last repair they charged an extra 2 hours over book time, and argued with me about how it was necessary because they could not find the issue right away. Ok... I let it slide. Brought my vehicle back recently for another issue. Now they are requiring a $55 dollar inspection fee no matter what. I should have left at that point. They wanted $500 dollar to make repairs that they could not describe in the estimate (which is $100 more than what it should have been at worst). They listed several possible reasons for the behavior, a couple were very inexpensive fixes, but the estimate listed the price for the most expensive repair. When pressed, they said the $500 is what I would pay. I pointed out that they did not put in writing that that was the real problem, and I was not going to pay that much for the cheaper fix. They didn't budge. So, I left. I will never go back. I am not sure what happened to this dealership. I suspect the ownership change is the root issue, and all the good mechanics and managers are now gone. This used to be the best Chevy dealership out of 9 I have tried. Now I would rate it as the worst. Avoid it at all costs. read more

The parts department wanted to charge me 10x the price for the parts, and quoted the labor time as 3.5 hours for a standard break change and replacement of a wheel bearing and strut, because "one time it took one of our guys three and a half hours to remove it". Your time for labor should be based on the industry average, not outlier examples. Charging $200 for a $20 part is fraudulent. As an attorney, I am appalled by the service department's actions. I notified the Attorney General's office as well. read more

Bought a silverado 2011 from lupient. Two weeks later check engine light came on. Lupient said that it needed $3,000 of work. Two weeks after that check engine light comes on again. Lupient said it needed new sensor(500 dollars later). After that sensor replacement check engine light came on again. Lupient said I needed a new engine. GM helped me on cost but still had to pay $3000 for engine replacement. Lupient never helped with any of the cost. Be careful with this dealership people. I barely was able to afford all these costs after buying a 20,000 vehicle with a bad engine from lupient. read more

Use caution when buying a car from this lot. I had no problems with the salespeople other than the factor that the car with a clean report had obvious repairs done to it. When noted to the salesman he almost seemed to pout and wouldn't even put a second into dropping the price. I know they ended up selling the car to someone who may not have noticed the damage. That is a shame and brought me to the conclusion that I can't trust this dealer. read more

I brought my vehicle, a 2002 Nissan Altima, to Lupient Chevrolet for an oil change. At that time no other service was required. I had owned the vehicle for nine years and it was always a perfect car. It was meticulously maintained and I never had any problems. At the time I worked at Lupient and did most of my regular maintenance with them. When my vehicle was done being serviced I paid the bill and went home for the evening, that was on a Saturday. Lupient Chevrolet is in Bloomington, MN and my residence is in Cottage Grove, MN; approximately a 30 mile drive. By the time I got home the check engine light was on, and that had never happened before. The next day the vehicle was running rough: it was noisy (extremely loud), there was a loud ticking sound, and the overall performance of the vehicle was not good. It didn't drive well at any speed. I brought the vehicle back to the service department and told the service writer that the vehicle was running rough and that the motor was making loud noises. He informed me that he would have a technician look at the vehicle and let me know. Later that afternoon I was approached by the service writer with the bad news...the technician who worked on my car drained the oil but did not put any oil back in. Again, no oil was put back into the vehicle. I drove the car without oil! The service writer told me that the motor was probably shot. The service manager was informed of the situation and took very little responsibility in the matter. His opinion was it might have been an oil consumption problem. He performed a full diagnostic and found nothing irregular, but still thought it might have been an oil consumption problem. His idea was to put 4 quarts of oil back into the vehicle, seal the engine to prevent tampering, and have me drive the vehicle for a month. This was an unpleasant experience considering it was driving so poorly. He told me he refused to do anything until they could rule out the fact that it was not an oil consumption issue. I was left with no choice. Four quarts of oil was put back in and I drove the car for four weeks. At the end of the four weeks my vehicle was driven back into the service department and the service manager unsealed the engine and checked the oil himself. 4 full quarts! No oil consumption. At this point he knew that oil was not put back into my vehicle at the above mentioned oil change. He felt that the only viable option was to have the motor rebuilt back to original working order. Because it was a General Motors dealership he thought it would be better to have this work contracted out to another facility. The used car manager at Lupient Southtown Bargain Lot recommended a location where he had done a lot of business. My Altima was taken to ARCs; the Automotive Repair Center (ARC) claimed to have rebuilt the top half of my motor; but they did not do anything with the lower half, seals, gaskets, rods, etc... My Altima was with them for several weeks. When I picked up my vehicle it was still making noises: loud ticking, rattles, etc... And the overall performance of the vehicle was poor. Even the used car manager (and all of the other managers) at Lupient admitted that the vehicle was not properly fixed. All of them had an opportunity to look, listen, and drive my Altima. I was not happy. The advice given to me was to try selling the car myself to see how much money I could get. This really was not fair to me. I did take several pictures of the vehicle and put the vehicle for sale on Craigslist. I put the sales price at $4,500.00 and received more than 25 phone calls and text messages in the first week. I did meet one potential candidate at Sonic in Bloomington, MN, so he could look at my car. I informed him that the selling price was $4500 firm and that I wanted it in cash or a money order. He asked me if I had the title and the lien release, and I told him that I did. When we met he asked if he could drive the car. When the vehicle was started he obviously heard the noise coming from under the hood. After our test drive he said he was not interested in purchasing the car. Instead of wasting anymore of my time (and selling a vehicle with a bad motor to somebody), I decided that I was not going to sell my vehicle myself to anybody. In the meantime, I had to purchase a used car for myself because I did not have a vehicle to drive. That was very upsetting. My Altima then sat for weeks with nothing being done. Weeks turned into months. At this time I was still employed with Lupient Chevrolet and always assumed it would be handled. The last time I tried starting the vehicle it would not start. The vehicle had sat for so long the battery was dead. Even after being jumped the battery would not stay charged. Every time the vehicle was shut off it would need to be jumped in order to start. And the vehicle had been sitting for so long the front brakes were shot. read more

I had worked with a Jennifer D via phone, over an internet listing. A 2005 Dodge Stratus that we were interested in for my college age son. I first spoke to Jennifer regarding the Stratus on Monday 10/26 asking if the car listed was still available. She said that the car was being inspected to see if it were sell able or would go to wholesale. Not hearing from her I called her back on Tuesday she said that the car had been inspected and serviced. She asked if I would like to make an appointment to drive the car, I said yes, but it make take sometime to arrange an appointment base on schedules with my son. I call Wednesday and set-up an appointment with her to see the car this morning (10/29) at 10:15 am. Jennifer told me the would be on their Bargain Lot off of 91st and Lyndale Ave. She said that she would email me address and directions which she did not. My son and I went to the bargain lot and could see that a car of that description was not there. We went in and spoke to a gentleman that said the car would be at the Bloomington location off of American Drive, not bad just a few miles... Once arriving there, it seemed no one knew of an appointment; Rob the sales person that was assigned to help us was friendly. He left, but returned saying the car was in for service(?) He said they were changing the oil and it would be 15 minutes.... My son and I waited for over 30 minutes before leaving... Rob never engaged us in conversation regarding the car the entire time we were waiting. I do not know about you but my time is important, and two people time is even more important, I had told Rob that we were buyers not tire kickers. If this is how they handle one appointment this is how they handle all of their business. I will never LUPIENT for any reason again, I suggest that you do the same. My wife and I went into to purchase a vehicle. We had scheduled an appointment and were told that the vehicle that we were interested in would be clean, warmed up and ready to test drive. When I got to Lupient the vehicle was not as promised. There were ashes all over the steering column, something sticky on the back of the steering wheel (YUCK!)and the vehicle was filthy. Will our salesman was very polite and helpful. Once we went in to complete the deal the transaction fell apart thanks to the attitude of the sales manager Robert. We attempted to negotiate a bit on price, we had done our research and knew what was available in the twin cities market and at what price point. Robert was arrogant , he did not introduce himself and had an attitude from the get go. If this is how you treat your customers when you are closing the deal I can only imagine what I could expect once I have committed to the deal. And if there were to be a problem that required service...... Thanks but no thanks- I will take my $$ to Poquet where the know how to treat their customers both during the sale process and servicing the vehicles after purchase. Took my car in here to get a noise looked at from the rear end passenger side while I was visiting the Bloomington area to see family. I'm from Lousiville and just bought the car recently, so I was told my dealer could fix it no charge. I didn't fully inspect the vehicle before taking it home, just hopped in and took off. I get it in the driveway at my families home and was pointed that there is clear damage on the drivers side from the rear wheel to the mirror in random places with fresh baby blueish white paint covering it, my car is white white, so I call Lupient and bring it in and they are denying it happened there because of the inconsistency and sloppy touch up job. Now I'm filing a claim with insurance, police and most likely having to pay for their damage. Totally disappointed in this dealer for their honesty and loyalty to a customer. I've been a Chevy owner my whole life and love their cars. I will not visit this dealer ever again. Stay away! read more

I have been brining my car to Lupient for over 6 years. I drive a Cobalt. After the service that I have received the past few times and how I have been treated when I call to make appointments I will no longer be bringing my car here. I have repeatedly had to bring my car back in to have things redone or they have missed things the first time so I would have to bring my car in a second or third time. I pulled my car up to the garage doors at 7am for a 7am appointment and some of the workers were standing there just looking at me and talking. I proceeded to get out of my car and walk up to the service door. They guy came over and told me to just sit in my car for a few more minutes because they were still opening up. The guys continued to stand there and talk. Then when I told them I needed a ride from the shuttle the guy made a big deal out of it and was very rude. I tried to call and make an appointment for the recall and was consistently put on hold for 5-10 min. I don't have time to sit on hold for that long to just make an appointment. Customer service here has really gone down the drain. I would never recommend anyone going to this Chevy dealership. It is a joke. The only person I give props to at this location is Todd Wilson in the service center. He is always a stand up guy. read more

I lease a 2014 Cruze. I have leased no less than 6 vehicles from this location, and have bought several cars here. The 2014 Cruze has had multiple recall items, and we have brought it back to a shop, not this one, multiple times. Tonight, I go to start this car, and the strangest thing happens. The power kind of comes on, the wipers start all by themselves (the activation arm was not engaged), then it dies, not letting me get the key out. So, I call over here, a place that I have been a loyal customer for over 20 years, and talk to a Mike in service. I tell him of the problem, and what is his response? Not 'you may have a dead battery'. No. Mike, the SERVICE guy, tells me he doesn't know anything about the 2014 models. Not the 1994 models, but this supposed professional doesn't know anything about a car that is almost only 3 years old, that had multiple recall items. I am very sure that if the guy who answers the phone cannot help me with a simple question, I sure as hell don't want him 'guessing' at what my repairs will cost. Lupient, you need to get these guys some training. Also, you will need to get a new customer, because the way my wife and I have been treated by yours and Jeff Belzer's service staff, we have no interest in EVER buying another Chevy. read more

I called this morning because I got my whole purse including my ID's and car keys stolen out of my locked locker at work. I called the parts number to get a new key cut for my car. First off the guy on the phone was extremely RUDE. He kept sarcastically chuckling and saying "Ha-well you NEEED an ID and your title to get a key made, Ha-and also you need your car towed to our location to get the key made." I asked for a price quote and he kept repeating that I need an ID. I told him my co-signer is also on the title too so that wouldn't matter. Then he kept going on about getting it towed otherwise he can't help and told me to call back when I figure something out. Yeah GREAT customer service. After getting everything stolen and not having a car; last thing a person wants is to be sarcastically chuckled at and treated like S***. I called The Key Guys and they were SUPER friendly and can make my key right on the spot!! They will be getting my service! Also, numerous people have had bad experiences at this place, even when I went looking for a Chevy before I bought my car at another location. This place needs to SHAPE-UP. read more
