Was looking for a private yurt- airbnb seemed to have just what i needed, king bed in a yurt, but the host never responded to my booking. I saw it was 'lupin lodge' and reached out directly. I asked directly about accessibility options as stairs were not possible, and they assured me that i was all good. We came in late, and learned that the accomodations were very... rustic. No ADA accessibility, lots of stairs, definitely not wheelchair accessible. So we were given a key to an unbooked yurt on flat ground. Not great. 5 stairs, on an incline. Door was unlocked, bed had clearly been slept/f*cked in. No thanks. read more

Absolutely love this place, Wednesday was my first time I was so nervous at first. It was quiet and perfect to go for my first time and let me tell you, it felt amazing to relax and be free with your body. Around noon to 1pm a few guest started to come to the pool. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. And really look out for each other, which made me felt safe being there. Highly recommended to go. I wish I found this place sooner. I haven't yet experienced the weekend but the quiet relaxing weekday is great especially for nervous new comers like myself. I promise you will not regret it. read more

I visited years ago for a massage and received a one day admission. It was so relaxing. I used the hot tub and sauna. Since then I lost a leg and use a wheelchair. As I recall there was a incline to the pool area. Also, is the sauna accessible to roll a wheelchair up too the door? read more

Just visited Lupin yesterday after many years of being away, and really enjoyed it. The people there are super friendly, and overall it's a very peaceful place. the hiking trails are nice that wind up through the hills. My only disappointment is how several things have been left to deteriorate. For instance, the lower hot tub, which was always a favorite place to kick back in, is now closed and left to rot. They do however still have a hot tub up by the swimming pool. The tennis court is also in shambles, and not usable. There also used to be a large upper deck between the tennis courts which has been torn down. My problem is that I have memories of how it used to be 30+ years ago, with a very active membership of tennis players and volleyball players, and now there are none. But for a nice quiet getaway with very nice welcoming people, you can't go wrong. read more

This was my first time at Lupin Lodge. It's so peaceful and relaxing! I opted to stay in a yurt which is a great "glamping" option for those who want to camp but not rough it. My Yurt slept two and had a small refrigerator and microwave. The facility also provides towels, fans for the room, and plenty of extension cords. The community bathrooms were just a couple of steps away and were kept extremely clean. The weather was a great escape from Fresno and I even got cold on my last night. I went in July and the high temperature during the day was around 95 and at night dropped to 65. This made night swims in the heated pool amazing. Without light pollution, you can see a sky full of stars. During the weekend, the staff plan events. The Friday night I was there, we had a Pirates of the Caribbean movie/pool party. During the weekend, you can get breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the one site restaurant. If that isn't your style, you can always bring your own and use the community kitchen to prepare your meal. Driving into town isn't bad either. In addition to the heated pool, Lupin also has a hot tub, and sauna. Hiking trails are all around and I saw a volleyball and pickle ball court. At first I was nervous with this being a clothing-optional facility, but within minutes, I felt at home. Seeing the friendly wildlife roaming around during the day adds a cool nature vibe too. 10/10 recommend! read more

Went here on a weekend date with my partner in December, weather is highly variable around the bay so I was particular about asking for temperatures and how much nudity is REQUIRED in areas because I am pretty sensitive to cold. I don't mind the truth, but on the phone the voice gave me accolades of warm easy weather. It really wasn't warm, but that's okay, I packed for this contingency because I have trust issues with temperature. On Friday night in the hot tub there were loud people who seemed kind of drunk, I got to endure dude-bros talking about MMA to a woman who didn't seem to care and complaining about San Francisco having homeless people when he himself slept in his car. Dunno what to tell you, guy. As for cliques, yeah it was difficult to get a hello returned by anyone that first night, and when I commented "no hello back I guess" I just got laughed at. I wouldn't put this on the lodge except it really seems like the worst person might have actually been staff, he was referred to later by a much more friendly person as the resident chef. I can't speak too much to the beauty of the location because I've seen a million nature spots and it's the short days time of year, but there's cute deer and turkeys. I do sense some tension around the area due to things like passive aggressive messages, like the rats one in the kitchen. Whoever wrote that, I don't know what to tell you other than rats are opportunistic but also really social and really smart, and you are in their space by being in a nature spot. Love those chaos potatoes. The yurt was a nice experience as I haven't stayed in one before, though the lock on the community kitchen was out of order so we heard that constantly and it sounds oddly like a very loud spank when just about everyone slams it. Left us very confused until we figured out what the sound actually was. Serious area for improvement, given past controversy: Water fixtures. If the place has a checkered history of water issues, I cannot see why the women's toilet uses like 18gpf, and why none of the fixtures have push faucets or sensors or even an aerator. They seem like they would pay for themselves and I certainly wouldn't have minded them. The showers do thankfully have pause valves. Minor area for improvement: Second keys for the yurts. We came as a couple so this meant splitting up ended up discouraged by means of keys. Overall, 3. I didn't totally dislike it, but I wouldn't be interested in going again either, and if it disappeared I wouldn't notice. I've already got places to be nude in the more urban Bay Area if I really want and nudity doesn't even really register in my brain anyways. Given that, and events that aren't really my jam, I didn't fall in love because there wasn't a positive pull. read more

Lupin is my home away from Home. I came here for the first time by myself a few months ago, and I'll be honest, I was very nervous. The day of, i called and spoke to Mila, she helped calm my nerves. She's so friendly and always very helpful. Now that I've made it out, I come every weekend. I love to camp here. You can rent a spot to camp, you can rent a tent that is already made for you, or stay in a yurt. The staff is what makes this place amazing. Calvin is a great chef and always takes the time to check in on me and tweak what he is serving for my vegetarian needs. I really appreciate his customer service and thoughtfulness! At Lupin there is wildlife everywhere, which I love. Turkeys and deer walk closely by. There are beautiful hiking trails, and clean amenities. The pool and hot tub are open all hours. I also love when Lupin hosts events. They just had a burning man event which was super fun! Great DJs and fun workshops. I highly recommend visiting, if you see yourself coming more than twice a month, I recommend getting the membership. read more

In our opinion, a fan is not AC. - rental price is too high for no HVAC units If you plan to stay overnight at Lupin, prepare and pack as if it's a camping trip - then you'll be fine. Definitely a solid 4 star experience. Had no trouble finding it via google maps, check in time was a bit longer than expected but the staff woman was super friendly and shared a few laughs. I went solo on a weekday to the pool and adjacent grass area and it was perfect. I see so much further potential to attract a younger and more consistent crowd, while still catering to the current fan base. Some more of a modern pool layout or colors, some lanterns in the adjacent tree, stinger lights, an everyday pantry to buy snacks from, soft drink dispenser near pool, some hipster rope seats hung from trees and hangout spots, just a few more comforters to those who aren't familiar with the entire property. Cell signal was moderate so I could still be reached if needed. The one day admission fee was fair, but also at the same time that's the same fee for nice resort day pass in Palm Springs. I know this isn't PS, and it was absolutely beautiful at the pool looking out at the mountain trees, but I felt it could have been elevated a bit more. Get rid of the snobby hipster teenagers at the front desk. They apparently believe that it is a privilege for them to check a person in . They were very rude. I had been going there for years for a getaway with the wife . It left a sour taste. The place used to be an amazing retreat even as a local . It has become so run down . It didn't really matter because of the beautiful lawns and restaurant but the snobby milenials at the desk were just so self absorbed and looked down on the guests who keep the place open. Do NOT agree to live/work here!! It is a beautiful setting where idealistic and artistic staff learn bad habits while being exploited by the owner. You can live here temporarily, make some amazing friends, and be naked in nature but you will not make money here nor find a respectful working environment. Most of the staff is kind and start out with enthusiasm but quickly learn that good work is not rewarded, only currying favor with the owner. It is more akin to a feudal lord and the serfs which is frustrating as a pro-feminist guise is used to sell it. Amongst the staff you can see a real equality ethic, a sincere effort to adhere to a principled working environment, but each day erodes that work and bad compromises are constantly being made. All of the residents there have a different arrangement with the owner and nothing is consistent except the inconsistency. Go for the day and have fun in the pool. Be kind to the staff you see but avoid any serious work/live situations to avoid the toxicity. Also, if you plan an event here be prepared to not have any organization other than what you bring to the table. Major concerns: - A community kitchen that is NOT maintained by staff even though it is touted as available to paying overnight guests. -Various carpet stains, old mattresses, and general disrepair of yurts, tent sites, and rotting trailers. Who really thinks wall to wall carpet in a yurt exposed to the elements/animals 24/7 is a good idea? Some have been upgraded to painted floors but again the area rugs do not get cleaned. -Electrical plugs in yurts of inconsistent quality. Good luck finding a place to plug your phone in. - Uneven stairs, stair railings, and shoddy workmanship overall. Basically some bad patches on top of what was initially some solid infrastructure. Again, most of the people there are really good people. Even the owner I do not consider a "bad" person, she has adopted bad habits to deal with a task she was not up to doing well. The problem is she is deluded into thinking this is okay and she will not let go of the little control she has to more competent folks. She also will say whatever she thinks you want to hear to get what she wants out of you. She is an artist but neglects to see the art in positive leadership, in thoughtful interior design, and respect the time so many volunteers and staff have put into the community there. This place could be a wonderful example of communal living and self-sufficiency instead it is a dilapidated dream that missed the wealth Silicon Valley had to spend. Now that Google is not bringing employees back to the office until next summer I expect a seismic shift in local economy that the owner and residents are unprepared for. read more

I'm grateful that as a long-time advocate for naturist communities everywhere, even since encountering a possible move to Hawaii in 2002 within a nudist household (I stayed in CA for the sake of my ageing parents), that so much acceptance of a nurturing community is possible and available. I've learned to respect people's personal space in public areas as a nudist. Currently, this helps me adapt to social distancing practices to ward off COVID-19. Intuitively, I could not have guessed that feeling oneness with nature and her Earthly blessings would make me feel healthier. At Lupin Lodge, I've enjoyed meeting with people socially, without the implicit judgment nudists and nudist families have often faced since the 1930s. I appreciate your stance and find that removing freedoms from people, America or anywhere are what is vulgar. The human form is at every artist's deep-rooted fascination. There are a few redeeming qualities to this place. The deer that wander through. The lawn area outside the cafe. The waterfall area and the beautiful trees. The view outside on the restaurant deck. The trails. Plenty of parking because well... it's pretty empty. When you really look though, ALOT of things need work. The office and front entrance area need deep cleaning and work. There is trash in the ravines. The guest kitchen is unusable. The upper tent deck sites are falling a part and the trees drip sap all over your tent. The one time I rented a yurt I cleaned it first before I felt comfortable. The fridge was dirty and tables were dusty. It's all very lax, not a professional resort environment at all. Pool is mostly never heated because maybe they are so in the red financially they can't afford it? It really is a beautiful property and they're are some people who do what they can to keep it going. But it feels like mostly an older reclusive group that like it the way it is. If you just want to swim, hot tub and have some peace and quiet while being nude, surrounded by trees, it's a great spot. read more

I have been to Lupin on and off for many years and it seems nothing ever changes. When you enter the gate it looks like you have arrived at a homeless encampment, with all the dilapidated trailers and motorhomes. Driving up to the parking lots is mostly the same look, very run-down looking. The one time I stayed in a yurt a few years ago it was nasty inside, so I never even tried again. Workmanship around the facility is lacking in quality with many things in disrepair. It seems like the best thing for this place would be for a new owner to come in and make this a nice place, like spending some money and fix things properly. last weekend just by accident I decided to stay a little later than usual and have dinner and I got to see an informal bird show by Kenny Elvin, First Circle Falconry on the lawn next to Nourish cafe. It was awesome! He had two falcons including a Peregrine and also a barn owl. One of the falcons buzzed the audience and flew in between two people who were quite close together. It's close by and surrounded by nature. The pool area is rather new. All these things barely make it worth it. First. The "cafe" is only open from 12pm-2pm and 4pm-6pm. The beer is reasonably priced and I haven't tried the food but I did see it so, bring snacks and tough it out. The sauna..sucks. So don't even take it into account. It's a heat light and a "heater" that takes hours to work. The spa, is just a tub with hot water that smells like refuse water. You can't have a phone out. Fine, I get it. But at other places you just have to put a sticker on the camera which WORKS! I saw so many people on their phone, yet I was the only person to be told to put it away. Whatever, I was a newbie. There are plenty of showers...just bring your own soap. Overall, if I'm just going to sit next to a pool and read my book and drink while naked, it's fine. I have heard about this place for years and it is pretty close to my house (I actually ride my bike there, about 13 miles though the mountains). I have to admit that for many years, dropping my drawers and hanging out (no pun intended) at a nudist resort was not even an option in my mind. Now that I am a bit older and have been around the block a few times I realize it's perfectly natural. My wife and I were here a few weeks ago for Soulfire, a regional burning man event and we had a blast! We decided to go back and enjoy the place for the last 2 weekends in a row. The swimming pool is awesome! It's got sun all day long and only one rule, no clothes... You can drink alcohol as long as it's not in glass. It never closes (I watched the sunrise from the pool my first visit). It's always super clean and in a beautiful setting. Lot's of floaties available and they even have a volleyball net so you can play a game in the pool! Besides that they have an actual volley ball court and hold regular (and casual) tournaments. There is a nature trail that sends you up the hill side for an epic view of the Lexington valley and then loops back around through the camping area of the lodge and eventually back to the pool. It's about 10 to 15 minutes to the top and pretty steep, another good way to earn to pool... You can camp in a tent, you can bring your RV, you can rent a yurt, there are plenty of fun options to stay the night. Some folks actually live there year round or for months at a time. I did camp my first time in my car (rooftop tent) but I have the rent a yurt idea in my mind for sure. Like I mentioned it's close to my home in the Santa Cruz Mountains so we just come and enjoy the pool for the day and then drive home. It's close to the bay area as well so lot's of folks do the same. They do have a restaurant that serves burgers and salads and some BBQ but it's a bit of a joke. I think it's run by folks that live there that don't really get the food service industry. I actually got a burger that was missing the burger if you can believe that. It took about an hour to get it as well and it didn't seem crowded at all. That's where the lost start came from... They do however serve beer and wine and will pour it into a plastic cup for you to take to the pool! So my perfect day @ Lupin lodge includes; A bike ride there (earn the pool!), a packed lunch, a six pack of canned beer, my beautiful wife who drives the car so I don't have to cycle home after drinking that six pack! This beautiful, tranquil,clothing optional resort in the redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains is the perfect place to escape to. It is hard to believe this paradise is so close to the huge metropolis of the Bay Area. I arrived and was greeted by the friendly office staff, and then checked into my cozy yurt. I saw four beautiful deer right on the restaurant lawn; they seemed right at home under the huge oak tree. After my delicious dinner in the restaurant, I strolled to the out door hot tub. As I relaxed in the delicious water in the buff under the stars, I could hear the stream that runs through the property After returning to the yurt, I turned on the electric blanket, and snuggled down in absolute quiet. The next morning, I awoke to the birds singing and took a quick dip in the heated pool. There were several people sunbathing in the nude on the deck, and some were playing water volleyball. Everyone was very friendly, and any concern I may have had about public nudity was dispelled by the casual and accepting atmosphere. That night at the dance in the clubhouse, the music was great and the dance floor was packed. I meet several people who come to Lupin regularly to hike,play tennis and volleyball, or just do nothing at all. My stay at Lupin Lodge was renewing and fun. I highly recommend it as a getaway. I went with my two boys to Lupin lodge for memorial weekend and had a great time! We stayed in a cute yurt for very reasonable price and went swimming every day in the lovely pool. They have a kids playground and the woods are a fun place for the kids to play. They had some nice entertainment every night as well as Bar-b-que. I will definitely go back!! read more

I have no complaints about Lupin Lodge, just my own 1st time experience. After watching and studying the Website I was all charged up for my first time naturist experience....at 71. I was hoping for a warm group of people who welcomed newcomers but found clicks of people who new each other and I felt like odd man out the whole time. I was looking for a place to belong and meet people, apparently this is not it. I know it is January and there weren't many people there...which was fine with me.....but the temp was 70 degrees. Perhaps somewhere else I can find a more welcoming attitude to new participants. After several hours of wandering back and forth and not able to break into the club I packed up and headed out. If all I wanted was to be naked I could go out in the woods back home and take my clothes off...that would be stupid. I still think the naturist lifestyle has a lot to offer, I just need to find out where to fit in. Again this has nothing to do with Lupin Lodge...It is just my experience. read more

We had an excellent time at Lupin this weekend. The new manager of the restaurant, now called Nourish was exceptional. Michele has crafted meals that are healthy and freakin delicious. She has planted a garden and uses greens and flowers in her meals. She came around to check with each diner to see if their meal was good... it was more than good, it was great. The staff was wonderful as always and the grounds were clean and well maintained, especially difficult during these times. One of the staff said that was alright because the sign was old. It states no alcohol allowed. She was corrected by another staff member who said the rule is still in effect.
