It is what it is. This is a lodge restaurant. I was thankful it was here so we didn't have to drive into town to get meals. They offered more than I could make at our camp site. The coffee was decent. The service isn't super slow, but not fast either...but who is in a hurry while camping? The scenery is beautiful. I enjoyed a breakfast burrito and would definitely order it again. It was a giant burrito that successfully stayed together even though it was stuffed full. It had spinach, avocado, sausage, cheese

First time I've ever had tofu kabobs. Loved it! It came with a pasta salad topped with feta cheese. I don't usually eat vegetarian but I couldn't resist and I'm glad I did. Restaurant is very casual, you order at the counter. The tofu kabobs were on special for $9.99. My friend who's daughters are vegetarian told me they always had 2 specials; one for meat eaters and one for vegetarians. You can also have the combo plate which has both specials for $10.99 which is what my friend did. I tasted her sweet & sour pork and it was quite good. Pork was tender and the sauce was great -- not too sweet like most places. There were other options on their regular menu like burgers. There is a community table you can sit at if you want to meet random people or you can sit on one of the other tables to be alone or with your friends. I also really love the natural setting of Lupin. So close to San Jose and yet feels like hundreds of miles away in the mountains. They had some trees off the balcony of the restaurant and I saw a mom and baby deer walking by. So cool. Clothing optional. People here are nice and open-minded.

Otherwise, just find where your trail is and park there. *No swimming The Ugly: *We did the Limekiln Trail and that was a little rough-&-ready in some areas, as the years of water damage and infrequent maintenance are starting to take their toll.

I went on the Mount Umunhum out and back trail. Still pretty green with some wildflowers! There were a decent amount of hikers, and lots of bicyclists. Seems like a very popular spot for mountain bikers! Had to watch out for cyclists most of the hike. Along the trail, there were some informational posts about the mountain's history and at the summit, there was a neat informational site, Native American pow wow example, and good balcony for pictures. Learned that Umunhum has that name because the Natives thought it sounded like a hummingbird! Partially shaded but I still recommend going in the morning. There were lots of switchbacks so the hike felt long - took me around 3 hours and 15 minutes including breaks to complete. When I came back around 11:45am, the parking lot was full and some people were parked on the side of the road. Overall, I would classify the Mount Umunhum trail as moderately difficult. Because of the switchbacks, the incline is very gradual but the hike feels longer. Good views and trails were well-maintained with markers. The constant cyclists slightly detracted from the hiking experience, but I would still recommend!

The girl coaches are even more exhausting: talking softly (with more makeup on than Madonna) and barely having kids do much. Many coaches don't know what they are doing. We've tried this place 2xs as various ages for our little one. (1) 18-20months class...um we were in a class with babies who could barely stand. The coach was a sweetheart because she was really focusing on the babies (having them become stable) but why the **** have us in this class when you see our kid is just walking around. (2) 4 years old: Ninja class: the rings are so low the kids just walk right past them, there is no real force to do anything, some kids are rolling on the ground, spacing out and hitting others in class. Moms spend so much time trying to talk to their own kids to flow (the coach) from the door- it's annoying. When my kid's coach came to me one day and told me another kid hit my kid as he was waiting his turn....I was over this place, my kid knows more than 90% of the things (as we've come from another gymnastics place) and wanted to try this because it was closer to home on weekends. But 2nd strike I'm done! Side Note: I saw another coach (he had a boot on one leg with crushes) teaching the 5-7year old and he was able to keep his kiddos in line and doing everything. But he must be THE ONLY ONE. Skip this mediocre place. We're back to our fav place in Santa Clara with our fav coach of 10 years now.

The last time we rafted Middle Fork American was on a cold, gloomy, drizzling day in October 2019 - so we had to give it another go in warmer weather. This time around was just as memorable. Two of us in the boat ended up falling out in the water at Tunnel Chute, which happened so fast that I barely knew what had happened - thankfully, there was a nice calmer stretch of water right after through the river tunnel, so we were easily able to get back into the raft. (Thank you to our guide, Troy, for hauling me back in, and for being an awesome guide in general!) Plus this was one of the photographer spots, so the action was all captured for us to laugh about later. Later, after our tasty sandwich picnic lunch, we had a few unexpected events happen, starting from the portage down Ruck-a-Chucky Falls. Shout-out to all three guides in our group - Troy, Shea, and AJ - for handling things so calmly and getting us all back where we were supposed to be! We had plenty of calm stretches floating down the river as well. The canyon is beautiful and quite peaceful. We saw a ton of dragonflies flying above our heads, masked ducks chilling on rocks and diving underwater, and wild grapes and blackberries growing alongside the river. We'll be back again for another trip with All-Outdoors! Maybe we'll try a 2-day or 3-day trip next time.
