I have been going to Lupi's in Hixson for 20+ years. The pizzas are not cheap but they are worth the price. They have draft beer (+1) and the staff are younger but do a great job. They have tables and booths. You have to order at the main entrance, but they do bring the food to your table and do provide table service such as drink refills. Great selection of different Pizzas, calzones and salads to mention a few items. On site parking. It is a nice casual location with good food. read more

I've lived in Chattanooga (Soddy Daisy) for a year now and I've heard all kinds of good stories about this place. First off; the no firearm sign was a major turn off (this is Tennessee) Secondly: the pizza imho? Is a step above Little Caesars which doesn't say much. Honestly, the only positive I can give? Oh how I have missed Lupi's! I used to live in Chattanooga about 10 years ago it was my favorite restaurant. It's my first time eating here in at least five years. I met up with some old friends from college and their grown children and we had dinner. We had a pizza, some lasagna and a calzone. Everything was wonderful. The environment was much like I remembered. It had that great Lupi's feel. The team was working hard behind the line making everyone's food. I visited the restroom and it was clean and smelled nice. There is also plenty of parking which is a nice advantage over the downtown location. I can't wait to come back here again next time I am in town! read more

I love the calzones so much I rarely get pizza but everyone else always enjoys theirs!!! My favorite is spicy chicken, pepperoni, and anchovies with an extra marinara on the side. Friendly staff, clean dining area and pretty good pizza. I am very particular when it comes to pizza. Growing up in NY I worked for several pizzeria's both as a cook and as a "pizza man". I am used to NY style Pizza, crispy with a thin crust. That being said, Lupi's makes a good pizza. The sauce is a little sweet (not a bad thing) and next time I would ask them to cook it "well done". The bottom of the slice was a little too soft for me. But I'm sure most people in the area like it this way. All in all it is a decent slice. read more

There are several things I miss about Chattanooga, the riverfront, the history, the mountain paths, the vibrant nightlife and pedestrian friendly streets. The city itself carries an energy that even the covid couldn't quite quell. There's dozens of recommendable eateries, scattered across the area, but the one I miss most is just north of Hixson, in the old tractor dealer building, Lupi's Pizza. As I was back in town visiting my accountant (tax time, you know), I stopped in following my appointment. Though a couple of years and a pandemic had passed, little other than a few plexi-screens and a hand sanitiser station, nothing had changed. The wonderful menu was the same, along with the magical beer cooler, packed with both common and eclectic beers and ales. Alas, no brew for me, as a long drive beneath a storm covered sky awaited. I ordered my favourite pie in the 'take & bake' mode, and hit the road. Upon arriving home, I slid said pie into the preheated oven, and 13 minutes later, "YAZZAH!", a perfect pie was ready. While my den lacks the somewhat quirky atmosphere of the Lupi dining area, a sound-stream of Joni, John Prine, Mr Stills, and steady rain on the roof served very well. Very strong candidate for best Pizza in Cleveland / Chattanooga. I like it cooked a little longer to crisp up the undercarriage a bit, and they always accommodate me. Also, fantastic pizza the next day. Just heat a large cast iron skillet to 550 in the oven and drop in a couple slices at a time for only 3 minutes. Phenomenal! read more

Love. Love. Love. Lupi's. My husband and I usually get to go orders and split a salad with a calzone which is plenty of food. The reason we split? The cost. I dined in with a friend today and order two slices of pizza, salad and added a drink and my total was almost $19. The food is always fresh and ingredients are amazing, but you definitely pay for it. I walked out completely stuffed (in the best way) but I also knew I completely blew my food budget for the day on one meal. They have lunch specials throughout the week that are a great value. Decent pizza, not true New York style, bottom soggy in no time. They charge for every topping, so a large 16" pizza with several toppings will run you over 30 bucks. Their pizza is pretty good! Not the best I've ever had but there's nothing to fault them on. It also reheats really well, which is a bonus for me. My only complaint is that their pizza was already overpriced even before they raised their prices, now we can't afford to eat here. It's unrealistic to spend $20, before tax, on a pepperoni pizza that barely feeds two people. $2.25 per topping is truly astronomical. read more

Love this place. Go early because they get packed. Also, they are closed on Mondays. We get the wheat crust and normally get all the meats. You can create your pizza from an assortment of gourmet toppings so everyone can get what they want. They also have bruschetta and salads that are very good as well. read more

The reason I go to Lupi's is for their house salad. Yup, best thing on the menu at a pizza place is their salad. (This is not to say that their pizza is bad, their salad is just that good.) Some nights I have the sweetie stop here on the way home to get it for takeout. Now, the funny thing is that it's not even a "fancy" salad with spring mix or arugula or lots of toppings ('cause I love those too,) but it's just a fresh garden salad. They top fresh iceberg lettuce with tomatoes, 'shrooms, sprouts, shredded carrots, cucumbers, mozzarella cheese, croutons and any of their housemade salad dressings-- yum! Seriously, try it. The sweetie loves their pizza too, I think it's tasty but not the best I've ever had (but I'm picky about pizza after living in NYC.) My big complaint is the speed of service in the restaurant-- it is so incredibly slow. The employees are generally friendly and accommodating, it's just they seem to walk around with their heads in the clouds. I tried repeatedly to flag one of the servers down when baby girl spilled a drink, when I needed a box, when we had a question, etc. and it took forever until someone noticed and finally came over. Well, this place has gone downhill. Maybe it's a "pandemic thing", but our late lunch today was so disappointing. Even hubby, who never complains, said "never again". Hubby got $3 slice of pizza with sausage and mushrooms. $1 per topping...so 2.5 tiny pieces of mushroom is worth $1? Hmm... I got mini calzone; again, $1 for any ingredients (what is a calzone without adding anything?). $5 calzone turned into quick $10 calzone later shows up pretty and hot, but with a small bowl of frigid cold "red sauce". Got up and asked them to heat it up for us, and guy says we don't do that; it's not a marinara sauce. Huh??? Then, we asked for anything warmer and he said he'd have to get manager. Goodness...can employees not do anything on their own anymore? Little while later, same plastic bowl shows up with original sauce steaming...but, still super cold in the middle. Always clean, always hot and fresh. They blast you out with A/C at this location a lot of times, so bring a sweatshirt ;) You can't go wrong with Lupi's food, you just really can't. Their bruschetta is the stuff of legend. Their salads are SO fresh with things you don't normally get like sprouts and mushrooms, and house dressings. Their pizzas are awesome too, but I mostly just order bruschetta and salad because they are so damn good as stand-alones. The atmosphere is really quirky. I just love it. Since I have a food blog, Sidewalk Shoes, I cook usually 5 nights a week, which means we eat out 2 nights a week. One of those nights is usually a restaurant that we have been wanting to try and the other night is usually a favorite regular. One of our very favorite regulars is Lupi's Pizza Pies. This (the Hixson location) is our Friday night eats choice. It is halfway between our home and my husband's work, so I drive in, he drives out, and we meet in the parking lot. Being creatures of habit, our order is always the same, the only varying is my husband's choice of brew. We each get a salad, a slice of pizza and a drink. When you walk into Lupi's, you place your order at the counter. We try to get there right before 6, so that it is not too crowded. Standing in line to place your order drives me crazy, but I have learned to live with it. It's really annoying when you get behind someone who waits until they get to the counter to begin looking at the menu and discussing all the options with their members in their party and the counter person. But when you make it to the counter, the people are extremely friendly and knowledgable, even giving a sample taste of a beer if you are not sure what kind you want. Once you place your order, you find a table and place your number on the table for the server to find you. If you've gotten tea or soft drinks, you go to a counter and fill them yourselves, allowing multiple refills. While you wait for your order, you can look around and admire the eclectic decor. Dark purple walls with bright trim colors, big puffy clouds hanging from the ceiling, string lights hung from anything and everything. There is artwork on the walls for sale, a small outdoor seating area, and a small game area. I know it may sound strange, but the salad is the reason we go to Lupi's. It's perfect. It has lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, sprout, cheese, red onions, shredded carrots, and the best croutons ever. I could live on the croutons alone. We get the house balsamic vinaigrette. The pizza is good. We like that we can order it by the slice. I get pepperoni on white dough with extra cheese. My husband gets spicy chicken on whole wheat dough. Unlike the salads, the pizza is unremarkable. It's good, but it doesn't stand out from other pizza places the same way their salad does. The marina sauce is flavorful, and depending on who is making the pizza, my extra cheese is sometimes really extra and sometimes not so much. read more

I think this is the best pizza in Chattanooga. Velvet says it is the second best to The Schroom I think she has it backwards. The music is certainly the best. Pizza is hot, fresh , and fast. The Schroom is not fast. Point for Lupi's. The sauce has good flavor and the cheese is real. You can tell cause it's stringy fake cheese doesn't do that stretchy thing. All I can say is.... I love Lupi's...I hate that I have to come to the Chattanooga area to eat at this most ridiculously delicious place. I discovered Lupi's back in 2001 or so when I was an undergraduate at UT Chattanooga. I needed some fuel before my finals and my friends suggested we pop in to the lovely eclectic downtown location. I've been hooked ever since. Fast forward...my parents live in the Hixson area and lucky for me, when I come to visit them, we get to indulge on some Lupi's pizza pie!! Our go to pie is a 16 inch with ham, crumbled bacon, red onion, and Italian sausage.....also you cannot pass up the warm bread loaf. It is served piping hot from the oven. The flavor is just aaagghh. It melts in your mouth. It comes with a side of minced garlic in olive oil as a dipping sauce. Sometimes I like to add a little fresh cracked black pepper and waken my palate. The pizza is perfection. The crust is all you could ever want. Not too thick or thin. Holds the cheese and toppings just right. You can definitely tell everything is super fresh and local.
