As a local we come here a few time month. Great place. The lady is always super friendly and remembers me. It's definitely the best sushi joint for miles around. It's hard not getting the Brighton roll every time it's so good. Pair that with the combination fried rice and you got yourself a helluva meal. We're definitely coming back. read more

Ordered the "New" Salmon Roll. It had a double dose of salmon- Salmon in the middle and salmon on top. How bad can that be? The roll was light and delicious. I understand Denver isn't coastal but the menu is way overpriced IMO. read more

Good sushi, which is surprising for a place like Brighton. The rolls are on the larger side, so keep in mind when ordering--we always end up with too much. Feels a bit on the pricey side, again especially for Brighton. I think we paid $10 or more for a California roll? I'd expect that price maybe downtown Denver, not up here. Food is good though. I must preface, Im a server at the airport and NEVER tip less than 20%, most often tipping $20 cash on less than $100,etc. I left 0 tip as she gave us a big FU mentality. We each ordered an alcoholic bev and a hot tea. We each ordered 2 soups and 3 sushi rolls to split. Firecracker roll was the issue for the evening. It was labeled as a spicy tuna with deseeded jalapeño and cream cheese. It was essentially a stuffed thick jalapeño popper with cream cheese and Im sure tuna somewhere. It was crap. I wanted a tuna roll not a stuffed jalapeño, its a big difference. The other two dishes...everything else was good enough I would be back. We each tried the jalapeño and put down. We ate everything else and said we didn't like the roll at all, we showed what we didn't like and said it was not edible and asked for any non spicy tuna roll for a substitute. The second was delicious. She charged us for both rolls, only offered to give us 1/2 off after I inquired and said since she kept the $17 charge for the food I sent back and didn't eat I wasn't tipping. She was obviously the owner as a server would never do that. Since she showed she doesn't care, I left my first review in years. Enjoy on your own experience. I will go elsewhere. Egg drop soup was really good, the gyoza was fantastic but the disappointed with the chicken Katsu. Menu is confusing because when I ordered the Katsu for ($18) - I assumed it came with veggies like the menu said but when I got the meal, it came on a bed of lettuce? When I asked about it, she said that "all the other entrees that say they come with veggies actually come with veggies but the Katsu doesn't". Which means you're paying almost $20 for fried chicken. Growing up in Houston, TX and being in the military traveling overseas...I know my sushi. This place has some of the best sushi I've ever had ANYWHERE! They receive fresh weekly shipments, my order is right every time, and they're so kind! My wife & I eat here 3-4 times a month and they're consistently great! What a pleasant surprise. I was hesitant to try this place. It's in old down Brighton...not where I would expect decent sushi. I was wrong! My meal was absolutely delicious. Irasshaimase! Sunshine Sushi was a pleasant surprise for my girlfriend and I. Located in downtown Brighton directly across from the AMC theater, Sunshine Sushi is a hidden gem all the way out here. The interior of the restaurant is well decorated and clean, and the staff friendly. Seating ranges from tables, booths and the sushi bar. It doesnt seem to be packed during the week, but the few times we've walked by on the weekend it does fill up. The menu is half traditional offerings, and half unique rolls. The menu has delicious Japanese offerings, while the sushi menu has quality sashimi, nigiri and maki rolls. As for specialty rolls, there are many unique and affordable rolls. A party of two can have 4-6 rolls, an appetizer and drinks for around 45 dollars, which is quite fair for what you get. I wholly reccomend stopping by and trying Sunrise Sushi today! read more

I'm not happy with our last visit. We visit this location about every two weeks. Going in, we already know the service is not great as there's never enough wait staff to accommodate the crowd. We had our order taken but an hour and 1/2 later it was obvious she forgot to put our order in. We watched table after table that came in after us order eat and leave. She avoided our table the whole time. When she finally brought our food and we asked her if she forgot to put our order in cuz we'd been sitting there for well over an hour, we got no apologies just denial. Only reason to not give 1 star is because we didn't actually get to eat. First red flag was that there were bugs on the table while we were waiting which really turned us off of eating but we did not leave right away. Ordered the sushi dinner, 30 minutes later the waitress literally runs up to us and asks if we ordered sushi or sashimi. When I said that we ordered sushi she said 1 of the orders of sushimi was done and would we just eat that. When I said we would not and that we now needed to leave in 15 minutes to make our movie across the street she got frustrated and went to rush the chef to remake it. After another 10 minutes we left. The service here is really slow. And the restaurant itself is more like a restaurant/bar rather than a sushi restaurant. As soon as you walk in you see the bar. And to the right of it is the little section where sushi is made. With that said, the food here is pretty good. I loved the presentation of the sushi dishes. They're colorful and bright. We ordered the family party combo, which was really good. This dish is basically letting the Chef choose what to put on this dish. I also ordered the Uni, which is probably the cheapest in Colorado, and one the best tasting too. Only thing I didn't like was that the uni was placed on top of a cucumber. I prefer it over sushi rice or rolled in seaweed. Other dishes we ordered was Teriyaki beef and chicken. Both were good too. read more

Let me preface this by saying that we were HOPING this place would be excellent. We live in Reunion, and there are no decent sushi places in the area. After eating at Sunrise, we'll continue to make the lengthier drive into Denver when we want sushi. To begin, they have a kids menu, but they told us about it rather than make the effort to give us one. We sat in a booth by the window, and when you looked down, it was obvious the floors hadn't been cleaned in ages. There were dead bugs and crumbs all along the window sill. The Wontons were clearly store bought and made from frozen. The edamame was served at room temperature. The sushi was a step above grocery store sushi at best... not fresh. I told my wife, it was worth trying just in case it was good, but we won't be back. read more
