A coworker and I were looking for a local place to grab lunch while attending a class in the area. This restaurant was recommended by someone in the class who knows the owner. We stopped in for lunch and it wasn't very busy so we were seated quickly and given menus and drinks quickly as well. I ordered the Almejas Gratinadas which are mussels topped with shrimp, corn salsa and cheese. Everything was fresh and delicious and the portion was just the right size. I asked them to put the spicy Chipotle sauce on the side and just dipped my food into in and I'm glad I made that decision because while it was yummy it had a slow burn to it. The pina aqua fresca was good but tasted a bit watery. My coworker got the shrimp ceviche tostada and another item and she said they were both great. She was glad she chose two items since they were both smaller portions. I would definitely recommend this place to others and hope to stop by again when I'm back in the area. read more

I wanted to rate this better because I thought I really liked this place, but it is just okay. The menu with English translation was by the register where you order, so it was hard to figure out since my Spanish is not strong. The ladies that took our order kept switching roles, but eventually we got our order in. Then it seemed like self seating but as it got crowded they started shift people around and passing out chips right before we got our food. Our order came out by two separate people and got an extra kids meal the first round then got my correct order. For a place where the specialty is shrimp, I would expect the shrimp to not be overcooked. Unfortunately it was, the shrimp were on the small/medium size and about $60+ for a kids meal and two entrees for lunch. Will we come back probably not which is a bummer since they have a lot of seafood options. read more

Stopped in on our way through Brighton. The parking lot was packed so we knew we were hitting the right place. The model has a mix of fast casual and sit down. You order your meal at the counter and pay, then with your number in hand, you find your seat and wait while munching on some great chips and salsa. Your meal is brought to your table. Shrimp is their thing! I had a chimichanga that was packed with veggies, tasty sauce and shrimp. My daughter had Sopes de Camaron. Delish! My husband is a beef guy so he had a smothered beef burrito. He said it was one of the best he has had. My son went for an entrée of fried chicken filet with potatoes, beans and rice. The rice even has tiny shrimp. We last minute decided to try this place and we were so glad we did! You order at the window when you get there. They have like well over 100 different options to choose from. Our food and drinks were delicious but I will say the Barbacoa Tacos were amazing and definitely a must try next time you eat here. So glad this place is close to where we live. read more

Brighton is full of fantastic Mexican food, but El Camaron Loco is the place to go for Mexican seafood and fish. They recently moved into a new location, and it sure is nice. The decor is modern and clean, and it's much more enjoyable to visit than the old place. They have over 100 items on the menu, which can be overwhelming, but the staff is friendly and can help guide you to a great dish. As I said earlier, the place is clean. This includes the food prep area. It makes the ceviche a lot more enjoyable, knowing you are not going to get sick. Superb food. Heading out of town after a ski vaca and wanted to try something different after all the high end stuff up in Breck. Came across this place thanks to yelp and was not disappointed. Much better location than the last go-round with this place. The food is pretty much the same as the last location. Dependable yet maybe just a touch overpriced for what you get considering it's typical Mexican food in Colorado. We still will be back though. The food takes what seems like too long for Mexican food, but be patient, it also seemed like everything was made fresh. My chimichanga was deep fried a bit too long, and the rice was just that...regular rice. I guess I expected Spanish rice or something a little more typical or authentic. Im from Los Angeles, I stopped here on vacation. Food looks appetizing but the service spoils the experience. I came in asking for a table as anyone would at a restaurant and I was told I had to order before sitting down. Which isn't an issue however the manner in which the waitress directed me was rude and she rolled her eyes after speaking to me. I understand everyone runs their business differently but it isn't hard to be clear and respectful. Food was good but after seeing the flys in the kitchen I regret coming here. What a surprise! Friendly staff, bright decor. The menu is heavily seafood, but oh my.... I had Stuffed Shrimp. OMG! Shrimp stuffed with with ham and white cheese, then wrapped in (get ready for this) crisp bacon. If you can lay aside cholesterol concerns, this was a fantastic tasting combination. The shrimp held their own and were nice and firm. Shrimp rumaki! Instead of chips and salsa, we were served little freshly cooked Tuna empanadas with a slow-burn green salsa. Not bad, but the predominamt taste was the oil they were cooked in. If you're flying out of DIA this is worth the short side trip. read more

I cheated myself and ordered the smothered carne asada burrito with verde sauce, it was sooooo good; but, if you wanting sea food then this is the best in Adam's County. You're not going to see Mexican Fusion, you're going to get more authentic experience, and it's worth it!!!!! They recently relocated to this location from down the street. I had never been to the previous location. The new place has some parking, both lot and street and is really nice on the inside. So, upon entering we were greeted warmly told how it all works, were given suggestions etc. The menu is very large, and you order right at the counter and then take your number to your table. They then bring you chips and salsa (which were good) and eventually your food when it's ready. The menu is so large and having never been here we took a moment to sit down and look it over. When we went back up front to order, there was a long line. *sigh* It seems this is a popular place for local workers, so plan accordingly during the lunch hour. Our food took a long time to come out. This is a different type of Mexican food place. The menu is 90% seafood. It was good, but not outstanding. I had the Sopes de Camaron which were three thick corn tortillas that were fried and filled with shrimp, lettuce, queso fresco, and red or green sauce. They were very filling and I was only able to eat 2. I would have liked a bit more flavor to them. My hubby had the Camarones Fiesta. It was six spicy shrimp (which were very spicy!), four grilled shrimp, and four bacon wrapped shrimp. The grilled shrimp all had the tails and outer shell on them so you had to wrestle with them before you could eat them. My husband didn't like that. It was pretty pricey for lunch and I wished that they would have had fountain soda instead of bottles. Oh well. We tried it and we may or may not be back. I do like the patio areas here and if they had some sort of happy hour I would for sure come back to partake. read more

Although I've only been once, I was thoroughly impressed! This isn't your average Mexican restaurant. First good sign - we walked in to a very clean, nicely decorated space. It definitely wasn't fancy, but it was cool - a nautical theme to go along with the cuisine. Second good sign - we were the only non-native Spanish speakers in the place. Third good sign - nearly nothing on the menu was like every single other Mexican restaurant out there. Most of their dishes are shrimp based, but you can also get whole fish, squid (or maybe they were tiny octupi), and I'm sure others that I couldn't translate. I got a dish with shrimp wrapped in bacon. It was great! My wife got beef tacos. They beef was tender and the sauces they gave us were very tasty & fresh. Had a smothered steak burrito and a shrimp fajita. Ordered take out. The smothered burrito is really an enchilada and the steak was good. It was okay. Not bad. The steak meat in it was marinated well. The shrimp fajita I enjoyed but as always, with shrimp dishes anywhere, I felt like there wasn't enough shrimp. I think I'll try a steak fajita next time. Oh, the cashier/waitress only spoke Spanish. No points off for that though. I would have loved to throw down my awesome Spanish skills on the bar table to order my food. I don't speak Spanish, unfortunately. The menu is 95% in Spanish only as well. I enlisted help from one of the customer dining in. He was helpful and the cashier girl was patient and understanding. No problems really until I wanted to ask for beans on the side for the burrito. She and the restaurant patron thought I wanted a side order of beans (or at least I think that's what they thought...she turned to enter in something on the register with the talk of beans). I said "no, it's okay. No bans okay." The burrito has beans inside it. That's fine by me though. Would I have preferred those beans on the outside? Yes. Is it such a big deal? Nah. read more

Ok, so this wasn't the best experience based on the 2-stars I'm giving the place... But keep this in mind, the service was some of the best I've ever had in Denver (It was worth at least 1-star)! But because you can't 'eat' service, here's what went wrong (and why I should have given just a 1-star review): - Ordered a Diet Coke... Came out with no glass. Yep, here's a can of soda for you! When I asked for a glass of ice, out came a glass with 1/3 ice (it's a simple recipe!) - Asked if I could get some chips and salsa. Waitress explained that there house empanadas were on the way out (more on this next), but brought me some after I begged. Chips from a bag and salsa from a freezer (I kid you not, there was ice in it). It was BAAADDDDDD. Even worse, it cost an additional $2! - Empanadas were a little greasy per another reviewer, but what no one has talked about was the taste... Tuna from a can placed in an empanada wrapper and fried is never a good thing (but no ice like the salsa!) - Chicken Burrito was, well, anything but special. While the best part was the sour cream topping that I scraped off (sorry, lactose intolerant here!), the chicken was cooked up on a flat top and the concoction was stuffed with rice, peas, carrots, but no beans. I don't get it... I did what I could, thanked the gentleman from the kitchen and my waitress and departed after they realized that they couldn't accept my AMEX ("For some reason it got declined" said the waitress. "Do you take AMEX?" I said after looking at the bill folio that had AMEX on it. "I guess we don't?" said the waitress). Again, really friendly service... But you can't eat that! Reading through some of the older reviews, please keep in mind, these folks have moved to a nicer more parking friendly location. I hope they remain successful in their new location. Not a fancy place,but nicely decorated, and clean. You order at the counter when you walk in, seat yourself, and they deliver your order to your table. No soda fountain, so non-alcholic drinks come in either a can or bottle. There is a bar, they worked hard to create, as it wasn't in any of the previous designs used at this location. One of the first things I noticed... For a place that specializes in fish and seafood dishes, this place has NO fishy stench. I like the steak taco's. a plate of 4 street style steak taco's, wonderful grilled onions, and a slice of avacado on each. The taco's are accompanied by a nice (non-hot) green salsa. For those looking for green chile, and either tex-mex, AZ/CA style offerings, this aint your place. This is an offering of authentic mexican dishes, and here, their primary ingredients are fish, or shrimp. Fear Not... They do have some beef and chicken offerings, for those die hard have to haves. read more
