They rock the guacamole! Everything at this spot was great.

Loved this little spot. The help, the food and the atmosphere was right on point. Make it a destination.

    Lengua taco and carne guisada.

I ordered a lengua taco and a carne guisada. The lengua meat had a dark tint to it and I should have spoken up, I should have also know by the darkness of lengua meat that it wasn't fresh. I ate there a few yrs ago and I asked if it was the same owners and it was not. The new owners took ownership 2yrs ago. Later that evening I got really sick with the food I had eaten. Unfortunately I will not be going back. Side note: the service was great and the AC was cranked up. Really wish I would have had a better experience.

Had the Lupida plate and the enchiladas. The amount of food was fantastic and well priced. The beans were fantastic

This little gem is in the old Compas restaurant location on 45th. The food is good and fresh and the place is clean. We started out with the queso, which was solid. My son loved it as well. I also had the surprise burrito with chorizo. The burrito is huge and is difficult for one to finish. My son had a quesadilla, which he loved. Would definitely visit again.

For a small cafe- styled restaurant, the experience was unexpectedly impressive. The mood was friendly and laid-back; I refer to it as a taste of Galveston Southern Hospitality. The television played an old-timer (in black and white) Spanish movie that was high on a corner shelf, but eye- catching for all table arrangements. The entire visit was comfortable and worth the short trip into the middle of town. We were immediately greeted by the waiter/hostess/cashier who was very attentive to our needs. Even when I asked the flavors of the Jarritos, she brought out a bottle of each and gave a sample. The chips, salsa and queso is the best on the island! The size of the entree and a`la carte items were well-worth the costs. We were so in "ahhh" when our plates came, we started eating right away; hence, the photos showing half-eaten portions. We left paying reasonably and of course, a doggie bag in tow.

Lupita's is our go-to place for surprise burritos. The salsas are very good, especially the green salsa.

I ordered the Shrimp Enchiladas and a Spicy Cabo Margarita. My wife got the Galveston Special on the lunch menu. The Margarita came out first. The drink was best thing about this trip. I got it with tajin and salt on the rim, so you got a salt sip on one side and extra spice on the other. The ratios of alcohol, orange liqueur and lime juice were perfect. The spicy tequila with jalapeño in it added another layer of flavor. The food came out shortly afterwards. I was weary of the yellow sauce on the enchiladas, I'm used to a cream sauce. It took a bit to get used to but it was good. The shrimp was kind of limp. They didn't seem to have been grilled before hand and didn't have that snap. My wife's Galveston Special was light and refreshing. It was a cold plate with a tostada, taco, guacamole, and queso in a tortilla bowl. The salad and tomatoes were freshly crisp and bright. The queso was good and had layers of flavor. I am an unapologetic lover of Tex-Mex and Salsas is a classic representation of the genre. It's got all the usual platters and since it's on the Gulf it has seafood too. It's always good when we eat here. *side note- the chips with red salsa and green salsa are really good.

Chips and salsa hit the spot, and the food is good, just not particularly distinctive. The menu is huge, with the kind of "big operation" feel where dishes are clearly designed to move quickly rather than showcase anything unique. Parking is the same story it's always been: not nearly enough of it. Most people end up in the Academy lot next door, and it's been the unofficial overflow for as long as anyone can remember. Hopefully Academy keeps looking the other way. A perfectly acceptable Seawall stop, but nothing that pushes it past a solid three stars.

My favorite were the ribs. Cooked perfectly. Tender but not falling off the bone. Well trimmed. Great flavor. Basted lightly in a bbq sauce. The brisket was good and appears to be their most popular item (they run out frequently). But I've had other brisket that I like better. I like their bbq sauce and they gave an ample portion on the side. It's a small place and there is no eating inside although they have outdoor seating. It's counter service. And a big plus is you watch them carve and weigh your meat while the person at register keys in exactly what you owe. Process was friendly and expedient. I had to stop myself multiple times from going back to make sure we could try the other places on our list but this one was by far one of my absolute favorites. The service was amazing and very fast and while we didn't eat here the area to eat here was very cute and outside, which in Texas is my favorite. If you ever have the opportunity to stop in here and grab some tamales and brisket I HIGHLY recommend it!
