    Margaritas!

Their food is amazing! Highly recommend this place. The margaritas were great and Quincy our server checked on us consistently. So happy we found this restaurant!

    DINE in only

July 8, 2025 Called to place a to- go order for their Facebook advertisement of $2 off taco plates. (See photos) Well, they wouldn't honor what they advertised unless I ate inside. Does it say that it's "dine-in" only anywhere in their Facebook post? Nope. There's too many tacos places on this island to be that petty.

I stumbled across this restaurant while walking on the strand and it had a nice vibe and ambiance! I was with my family at the time who was in the mood for mexican food while I wanted a seafood dish so i opted for the Mahi Mahi Islander. Presentation wise, this meal was exactly how I pictured it would look and I was visibly pleased. This was my first time trying Mahi Mahi so I didn't know what to expect but the fish was not my favorite. It wasn't a super fishy fish but it did have a mild flavor that was confusing to put in words and the fish was super firm. I don't know if Mahi Mahi is always firm or if my fish was overcooked. The parmesan crust and flavor was tasty but was more on the soggy side than crispy as I was hoping and I tasted it immediately before it got the chance to sweat in the box. As for the Garlic Mashed Potatoes, they were good, no complaints. Surprisingly my favorite thing in this meal was the grilled vegetables!!!! They were delicious, flavorful and seasoned. I don't even eat zucchini and squash but it was flavored so good I couldn't stop. It also had green beans, red bell pepper, and purple and white onions. If i'd go back for anything here it'd for sure be those vegetables. I forgot to add my meal came with some type of lemon butter sauce which I really enjoyed pouring over my food. It had a great flavor. Since I was really feeling seafood this day I also got some grilled shrimp to try and they were just okay. They didn't taste like gulf shrimp. I did get some chips and salsa in my order and the chips were fresh and the salsa had a good flavor but was too watery. Overall, it's a possibility I would return only because this is a mexican restaurant and I didn't get any mexican food so i'd try it out! From the brief interaction I had with the togo server he was kind and welcoming!

This place was great! Tequila Rock was located in the heart of the strand of Galveston. I was looking for Tex-Mex food in my short trip to Galveston and I had sweet siracha tacos and everything was great! They make their beans with pork and I don't eat pork, but they offered to give me extra rice which was a kind gesture. They also have specials throughout the week. Service was quick, efficient, and kind and food was great!

Good service - very friendly. Fun decor inside. Food was plentiful and mango margarita was delicious! As was the triple appetizer with mango salsa, guacamole, queso and their house made salsa - just because. Fajita chicken tacos and chicken tenders were not great - no seasoning and tough to chew. Beef enchiladas were a bit more spicy than anticipated. Cute, but not sure we'd return.

Service was top notch. Our waitress was on it. Food was a medium. Enchiladas were good but not great. Beef wasn't well seasoned and there were big chunks of drier ground beef. Stuffed shrimp was tasty. Kids meal was chicken tenders with a fruit cup. The fruit cup was store bought pre packaged fruit which was disappointing because we thought he was getting fresh fruit. It's a tourist trap for those who are hungry. Kind of upset the hostess at Shark Shack told us to come to this place. When I asked her if the menu was the same she said yeah it's similar. It's not. It was a lie. We were misled and had a dinner that was subpar.

Chips and queso large- pretty good really creamy and thick! Loved the chips and the offered to refill it for us multiple times which is always nice. Blackened fish tacos- got it alacarte and it was yummyyy nice crunchy and flavorful not overly fishy either if you know what I mean Fried chicken taco- also got it ala carte. Really taste and super filling! Juicy pieces of meat great tortillas Chicken enchiladas- my girlfriend really liked them and found them really filling! The rice looked so good too bad I'm allergic and couldn't try haha Peach and mango marg- they were ok but kind of gave us both a headache haha idk if it was the tequila or the sugar though SUPER CUTE INSIDEE def the place for a nice dinner date, girls night and instagram pictures!

Margarita flight was a hit! Spicy pineapple, black barrel, sexy Mexican

Margarita Heaven! Start with a margarita flight, grab an appetizer. Our favorites are the spicy pineapple and sexy Mexican. We love their queso with brisket. A Galveston must is the chain smoker sandwich- if you know... you know! Trust me!

I really wish I would've not eaten before I got here. I didn't try food so I was already full, but the drinks were amazing. I tried three different things just to kinda get a taste for their style. I highly recommend the Sexy Mexican. I like amaretto, which is what drew me to this one, and it's like the perfect match and everything is subtle so it's not an overly sweet flavor. Of course I put the heat on the rim so that kind of changes it a bit. Then I had The Boss Top Shelf & Paloma Suprema. Both were good, but in the end I ended up going back to the sexy Mexican. My bartender was amazing. I can't remember if her name was Sherry or Shelly ( I'm sorry), but she was great!! She mentioned the tacos were amazing. Unfortunately, I had dinner with a friend at the hibachi place down the road so I was stuffed and didn't get to try the tacos.

We went down for a quick day at the beach and stopped by for lunch. I got the three drop appetizer because I wasn't hungry, but it was super feeling. The queso was my favorite. The waiter, who was sorry helpful and attentive, recommended the mango margarita which was delicious. The establishment has a changing table as I was with my infant.

Located in what I'd consider the Downtown Galveston area is the Tequila Rock Kitchen & Bar. We planned to go to Shark Shack but it only had outside seating on that hot and humid day. They said their "sister" restaurant was open to indoor seating and it was just steps away. It was open, clean, and the staff was attentive and super friendly. We ordered fish Alfredo's lemon chicken, burger and fries, and brisket tacos with rice - all delicious. I'd recommend this place when it the area and I'll definitely be back to enjoy the great food but also to be greeted by a great staff.

Good food. Twist in your Tex Mex favorites. Friendly staff. We were a party of two but saw several large parties there. Right on The Strand

It was a nice place to eat. Very touristy. They had good margaritas and appetizers. The service was pretty good.

The entrance is so fun and charming. I love how 50s hula music is playing while you enter the bar. The hula girl wallpaper in the bathroom also plays well into the theme. One of my friends was six months pregnant at the time and found the mocktail selection to be really good. We were quite full from dinner but didn't mind the snack offerings. I explained I'm gluten intolerant, and the bartender went through the snack pairings I could have. My drink (Speaky Tiki Old Fashioned) came with the rice, and it was so, so good. We actually plan on coming back this weekend, and I'm salivating at the thought of the crispy rice. Don't skip out on this place! It's one of the best speakeasies I've been to.

Well, well, well, Pineapple Parlor, aren't you a sight for sore eyes?…read morePineapple Parlor is a tiki speakeasy lounge offshoot off Daiquiri Time Out in historic downtown Galveston (former Red Light District, in fact). I mean what better place for a tiki bar than a beach town? The drinks menu is as extensive as DTO. They've got the tiki standards, Zombie and Painkiller as well as a slew of others. The Kumquat Tot is hands down my favorite. Kumquat, gin, mint, and a few other choice ingredients make this one of the most unique and refreshing cocktails I've ever had. Drinks are served in classic tiki glassware. I dig the vibe here real hard. It's rad. Decor is thatched walls, huts, voodoo, fire, and skulls. Mood lighting enhances the overall theme. The bartenders and servers are super cool. Visiting once just wasn't enough. In the words of The Terminator, "I'll Be Back".
