We stayed at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar hotel in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico for 5 nights in January…read more2026. We reserved and paid for an ocean view king room. Upon arrival, our room was facing a wall. To see the ocean we had to go on the terrace and crane our necks to the left hanging over the bannister. NOT an ocean view room. They really need to call these rooms partial ocean view. Then there would be no issue. I immediately went back to the front desk and asked for a different room. It seems there was not ONE other available room in the entire hotel, but they did promise to move us the next day. We could not unpack. Made me crazy and uncomfortable. The next day we were promised a room between 11-2. And by 2pm we'd heard nothing so we went to meet the front desk manager at 2pm. She assured us the room was being prepared. It was!!! We finally had a beautiful king room facing the ocean and not over the kiddie pool. Krysia was wonderful and everything she said came to fruition. Can't thank her enough for her support. There were definite differences between the two supposed ocean view king rooms. The first room obviously faced a wall not the ocean. But it also lacked amenities that were present in the 2nd room such as really cool lights on the side of the bed that light up when you pass by. Great for the evening when going to the bathroom! There was a small (not real) plant in the bathroom. There were more towels present. There was a love seat sized couch not a chair. The sliding glass doors to the terrace were larger. It's possible the ceilings were higher too. Small measures but noticeable. The Tiki Hut near the beach and pool is great and we had lunch there everyday. We saw people enjoying the cabanas and the individual service they receive. The beach area is my spot. Always chairs and umbrellas available with staff to set you up. We have been to this hotel at least 6 times over the past years and have found the restaurants good and the service friendly. Housekeeping staff is accommodating too. Review just went from 4 stars to 3. Upon checking out they tried to charge us extra taxes. We pre paid the entire amount at time of reservation which included room and taxes and resort Fees. Why the up-charge at checkout ?

Traveling on a budget but want to be on the beach? this place is for you :…read moreI had never stayed at Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn before, but it had been on my list for quite some time. I've always wanted to spend more time in Luquillo, and after seeing the consistently high ratings on Expedia and TripAdvisor--along with its beachfront location--I decided to give it a try. The property itself is older, but don't let that deter you. The rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, which made for a very relaxing stay. I loved the balcony and watching the ocean from so close! Beautiful sunrise too. Check-in is more laid-back, so don't expect a traditional front desk experience with someone always present. That said, the communication was excellent. I really appreciated that they reached out via text ahead of time to ask about my arrival--it was a thoughtful touch. I arrived earlier than the standard check-in time (as I had mentioned), and there were no issues at all. When I rang the bell, a staff member promptly came out to assist me and greeted me with a warm smile. There's also a very popular restaurant and bar on-site with an amazing-looking menu. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to try it this time, but it's definitely on the list for our next visit. The location is another big plus--easy to find, right on the beach, and conveniently close to a Walgreens and other nearby beaches to explore. Overall, this was a great experience, and I would absolutely stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful visit!

Beautiful property but not much activities which was good for us as we just needed a quick relaxing getaway. I loved the fact that the kids had their on pool area away from the adults. We stayed in a studio room which was just enough for the two of us. I enjoyed the live music at night as well as the casino. Hot water took forever to turn "warm". I mentioned the problem in the presentation and my presenter acted like it was the first time he heard this. Spoke to other guests and they had the same problem. Why not just admit that there's an issue with getting hot water as fast as we're used to? 2.,Room not as clean as what a soon-to-be-a 5 Star resort would look like. Asked for towels early morning and got back around 5, still no towels. 3. No night party life here as everything that does happen closes early. 3. The Vault is expensive. If you're not spending $$$ for the show, you're dishing out $$ for drinks. 4. Casino is one room. 5. No screens on patio doors, so they can't be left open to feel the fresh air. 6. Food in restaurants and bar pretty high. Ate out with locals most nights. 7.,TV, very few programs. If it's a rainy day, you're stuck with lousy channels. No smart TVs. 8. NO nightlife here! Beach closes up early and other than restaurant, bar, casino there is ZIPPO to do. Boring!!! No dancing. Nada!!! 8. We left the door hanger indication we would like trash emptied today. Never was picked up. The responses to these concerns are default generated. I'm glad we didn't become "owners" Love the Marriott in Aruba!

Stay Away Please!…read more It's Mother's Day Weekend and my husband treated me to a getaway. He chose a local inn due to the 'breathtaking scenery and "5 star" restaurant.' We'll, we arrived and there were no signs or available parking so we parked at the side of the road. It turns out that the restaurant was closed for a private party. The person at the bar asked gave us a confused look when we told them we had reservations for the "inn" (LOL! We should've ran away then!). He was nice enough to take us to a room where the bed was not done. He borrowed the linens from an adjacent room and gave them to my husband. Well, the restaurant was closed, the second bed looked like someone stepped on it, and there was this peculiar smell of horse manure, which I later found out came from the decor cushions that were loosely placed on top of the bed. There was no cable, no Wifi as they could only hope that a satellite dish signal could filter through the thick cloud that usually surround the area. The pool had plenty of trash and natural debris floating, so no thanks! I must say the view was breathtaking, but the noisiness of the "private party" was followed by the screams and foul-mouth noises coming from the restaurant staff downstairs, who probably thought were alone in the area until around 2230. Did I mention that the shower floor is slippery and I nearly fell not once but twice there? Well, I thank God for his mercy because morning time came and as we were ready to get the heck out of there, we find that there is absolutely NO ONE home...NOT A SOUL! We patiently waited about 1.5 hours... a bit after that 1100 official checkout time, and not one soul was around. Pretty creepy for a tourist on the top of a mountain..LOL! But wait! We did call the POC on the reservations paperwork but the number was out of service. We finally decided to leave the keys inside the room and leave. We let someone from the Carabali business down the hill know what happened, they said they would leave a message to the manager... I'm still waiting on that call. In Summary, STAY AWAY! There are beautiful local places all around, with excellent customer service, top notch cleaning standards and cheaper... this is not one of them. Places like this give the island a bad rep.

Around 6:00 AM on Friday morning, I contacted Surfing Turtle Inn, and the staff could not have been more kind, accommodating, and understanding. Not only did they allow us to check in early, but they gave us a phenomenal room that completely turned our trip around. I'll admit that after reading some reviews, I was slightly hesitant. However, once we arrived, all of those concerns disappeared. This stay was absolutely worth it and truly made the last part of our Puerto Rico vacation special. The location is perfect. It's steps from the beach, walkable to restaurants, shops, and everything you could need. There's even an amazing coffee shop right across the street. Parking was easy, the neighborhood felt safe, and everyone we encountered was incredibly friendly. Some reviews mention road noise, and while there are cars passing by, it honestly did not bother us at all. We could barely hear anything from our room. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and we slept like babies both nights. The inn even provided earplugs, though we never felt the need to use them. The room itself was spotless, cool and comfortable after long days in the Puerto Rican heat, and thoughtfully designed. The attention to detail in the décor was impressive. It truly felt like a boutique surf hotel with a laid-back coastal vibe. The aesthetic was beautiful without feeling overdone. The amenities were another highlight. We loved the rooftop views, and the complimentary beach chairs and beach towels were such a nice touch. There was also a coffee station, microwave, and everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Most importantly, this place gave us exactly what we needed after a stressful start to our trip: a relaxing, welcoming home base where we could unwind and enjoy Luquillo. If you're looking for a unique, clean, comfortable, laid-back, and aesthetically pleasing place to stay, do not hesitate to book Surfing Turtle Inn. We cannot say enough good things about our experience and would absolutely stay here again.
