When I stopped by on a weekday evening at 9pm it was packed. They had stations setup throughout the store to order different goods, which helped to alleviate the rush. Knafeh ($6) - They offered 2 types of knafeh, one with cheese and one with custard. I went with the one made with Nabulsi cheese and topped with shredded phyllo, and soaked in sugar syrup. It was warm, crispy and delicious! Karak tea ($5) - This milk tea drink was made with aromatic spices, primarily cardamom, cloves, ginger and cloves. I was happy to see they used whole milk instead of evaporated milk. The drink was incredibly rich and creamy and tasted great. Turkish delight ($18 / lb.) - This was extremely fresh, soft and chewy, made with cornstarch, sugar, nuts. Some of the varieties I tried had chocolate and/or fruits. The baklava here was fresh made with layers of phyllo dough, chopped nuts, and held together with some honey. The nut offerings here included, almonds, walnuts, peanuts and a few more. Overall I was impressed with everything they offered here with the exception of the nuts, which I thought were just ok. I'd definitely return if I was in the area.

The desserts here are fun, unique, and very different from what you find at most places. My only…read morecomplaint is the lack of labeling for many of the products. For example, with the Turkish delights and ice cream selections, only a few items are labeled. For most of them, you have to guess the flavor or ingredients. When I asked questions, there was a language barrier, and the staff member behind the counter was unable to clearly explain what the items were in English. This can be especially frustrating for customers with food allergies or dietary restrictions. In the U.S., I would expect all flavors and ingredients to be clearly labeled so customers can make informed choices. Even if staff members are not fluent in English, having accurate labels for flavors and ingredients would greatly improve the customer experience. The desserts themselves are excellent, but better product labeling would make the experience much more enjoyable and accessible for everyone.

Basically if you want to look like you cooked but didn't, this is your place. The chicken salad is famous for a reason. It sells out constantly and I get why. The pastries and cookies are fantastic, the soups and casseroles actually taste homemade (better than homemade, honestly), and everything is made fresh in-house daily. I've grabbed their chicken tetrazzini for lazy weeknights more times than I'd like to admit. Staff is sweet, the space is adorable, and the wine selection is surprisingly solid for such a small shop. Great for dinner parties, host gifts, a quick lunch, or just treating yourself.

Granted it was a hot Houston day outside, but the AC inside just wasn't doing it for us. That being said, this was my first visit to Cottage Grocery and I was pleasantly surprised! Everything sounded so delicious it was hard to choose! We split a summer salad and pretzel bun ham and Swiss sandwich (both of which were delicious) and had Teddy graham lattes (YUM). The coffee and pastry shop inside was so cute! And they had so many great to-go fresh meal options. Will definitely try to come back another time!

I was told these owners bought that place and are remodeling, I won't mention the name , but I spoke to a man last weekend who told me it was indeed true, but they were still remodeling. He said give it another month or so. I said OK, we will try you all out. OMG!! The date Maamoul was out of this world!! The other desserts were very good! I don't EVEN CARE if that other place reopens because the Maamoul ALONE was worth switching loyalty! I will include pictures of everything my husband bought that day. The only caveat is my husband said it was a beautiful cafe( you're going to pay for that) and everything came up to about $27 he said, a little pricey, but that Maamoul literally brought tears to my eyes!

There was barely any fruit filling inside, which made it feel underwhelming overall. I also asked about the flavor of the mushroom-shaped dessert, and the employee behind the counter didn't know. He had to ask someone else, and when he came back to answer me, he spoke so quietly I still couldn't understand what he said. For two small desserts, the total was nearly $30, which definitely didn't match the quality or experience. Sadly, I wouldn't return

Herbert's Specialty Meats on Richmond near the Galleria instantly took me back home. The moment you walk in, the number of items from Louisiana is delightful Their boudin, seasonings, and prepared items reminded me so much of my grandmother's gumbo, boudin, and rich, slow-cooked stews--comfort food that warms your soul. You can taste the authenticity and love in everything they make. This is the kind of place that understands balance, spice, and tradition. Customer service was excellent--friendly, patient, and genuinely happy to help you find exactly what you're craving. There are tons of choices, whether you're stocking up for a cookout or just grabbing something to satisfy that Cajun craving. For anyone missing Louisiana flavors or wanting the real deal in Houston, Herbert's is a must-stop. It feels like a little piece of "The Boot"

The popsicle itself is good as well. I got the Passion Fruit and Mango popsicle and it tasted great! You can tell they made it with fresh fruit and fresh fruit juices. There's plenty of seats inside with 2-3 employees but they're mostly in the back. There is a bell you can ring to get someone's attention. They seem pretty nice. Pretty clean and simply decorated. They didn't really do an introduction of the place but did answer any questions I had. Their popsicles are decent sized and are made with real fruit/ingredients. They come on a tray with a drip catcher. My kids got watermelon and mixed berry, but it was mostly me who ate the berry one. My kid who had the watermelon really liked it but it was a bit cold for her, so she ate some of it and I stuck it in a cup when we got home so it could melt and she could enjoy later. It has chunks of watermelon interspersed and she found 2 seeds - so Yay for real fruit! She finished it all. The berry one was nice and refreshing, not necessarily too sweet. And hello seeds! My other kid didn't really like it so I had pretty much all of it. He's more of an ice cream lover but he's also the one with multiple food allergies. We didn't partake in anything else but while there, some people came in but just for drinks like bottled water. They serve some ice cream but they don't make it themselves... they don't contain eggs though. Also, all of their popsicle flavors are made separately so there shouldn't be cross contamination. I asked because my youngest has multiple food allergies and he is allergic to a number of the flavors they had. In addition, they also serve snacks, juices, and other things you'd think about as an after school snack or treat. They also cater. Overall, the popsicles were good but not big enough for the $5.15 cost EACH. At the same time, they are a little hefty for my 3 year old but not the biggest one we had. If you're in the area, go ahead and try it out, but it can add up fast as almost everything is $5 and up. But it certainly is convenient for the area! I'm eyeing those freshly made juices and I'm intrigued by that "waffle taco."
