I've had some scary haircuts in my past (I've actually cried in the chair) but I keep on coming back to Aveda salons because my hair doesn't just look great as I'm walking out of the salon, it looks great for the next few months. I've been to see Lily twice over the past year thanks to their awesome groupon deal, but honestly I will pay full price when they stop running the promotion. Until then, I might try out a massage, too. A note about their products though -- as natural as aveda claims to be, it isn't organic and there are still enough chemicals that I won't re-buy their products after trying them out once. read more

I have gotten both massage services and hair services here and I have nothing to complain about! Both Myra and Mike did a fantastic job for massage and the oil they use smells soooooo good! I would love to go back sometime soon. I got a balayage done by Jacoby, and she was fantastic! She really took her time to figure out what I wanted and what color formulas she needs to use. I have a thin, weak hair and bad hair dyes can destroy my hair. It's been months since I got my hair dyed and it still looks as healthy and shiny as when I initially got them done! SPA REVIEW: If you're looking for a facial, I highly recommend LINDSAY. I had to re-post from my original review from the Lux Aveda Spa at the Garden Walk in Anaheim since they closed. I followed Lindsay the esthetician here, she's so awesome I just can't keep her to myself so I had to re-post. Honestly, if this location also closes I'll follow this girl even if she relocates to LA! She's so professional and knows what she's doing. I personally don't like people touching my face but she made me feel really comfortable and I was able to completely relax. She also gave me a lot of great useful tips and recommendations (not up-sells). I really like that she didn't pressure me to buy any product or book future appts. Instead, I asked how often can I come and I went ahead and booked with her for the next 3 months and I'll probably keep continue to book with her. I purchased a Groupon deal ($45 for $100 + $20 product voucher) a while ago and decided to use it as my hair was getting pretty horrendous and I could no longer leave it down, even with my novice styling attempts. I started with a massage with Mike, who is freaking AMAZING and extremely thorough. I only had a 30 minute massage, but he asked me several questions allowed me to choose which aromas would be used during the massage. I walked in after an extremely stressful day and left that massage feeling totally relaxed. I then had a haircut with Jasmine, who is seriously one of the most thorough stylists I have ever met. She listened to everything I had to say (and I had a looong list of things I don't like from a multitude of horrific hair experiences) and did exactly what I asked for. This girl took over an hour to get it perfect, despite the fact that I was her last client for the day (which I only found out because I asked). Well, I am obliged to compose a merited review for Jen, the stylist I visited at Lux. She was welcoming, actively listened and asked important questions. As a hairstylist myself, I recognized her methods as quite thorough, thoughtful and effective. Not only did she propose a plan for this visit, she also added excitement by discussing future processes and possible looks. I arrived with a "situation" having medium dark roots and light blonde hair that hadn't been retouched for five months. In this situation I was prepared for a band of color because I hadn't maintained my hair color as a responsible hairstylist should have, lol. She brought awareness to the possibility that there could be a band of color difference and proposed steps to remedy it in the future. Once the color was done (btw, her formulation was unique and appreciated!), I discovered that while there WAS a difference, it was not significant. In fact, I LOVE my retouch color and cannot wait for the rest of my hair to receive her expertise! read more

Amanda cut my frizzy, thick mess into a sleek, bouncy layered cut that is PERFECT. My hair tends to be heavy in general when it's long, but after Amanda's cut, it feels light and looks GORGEOUS. This review is for masseuse Mayra, facial artist Lauren, and receptionist Angela. I have to say this is the best salon I've been to. Starting from reception area, there's iced water, tea, coffee for the customers, and the receptionist Angela is superb! There's customers lining up, non stop phone calls coming in, but she still manage to give everyone friendly response and a smile! I don't even know how she does that. I would be stressing out. But she's just very professional and calm. The facial artist Lauren and masseuse Mayra are both awesome! They listened to my concerns, needs, and welcomed me with a food scrub and soak. It was so comfortable and awesome knowing that they took time listening to your needs, picked the right treatment and products for your skin and body, and their skills are perfect. Absolutely amazeballs! I used a Groupon here and it was such a steal! When walking in, it is clean, smells great, and was greeted with a delicious cup of organic tea. I was scheduled for a back facial with Kandi and she was just lovely. So helpful, refreshing, honest, and all the characteristics you would want in a esthetician/masseuse. She said she wasn't a masseuse but she made all my aches in my back go away. I was due for a massage/facial for too long and I came in after a full week of work and I was just pooped and exhausted, Neck sore and back aching and I honestly did not think I was going to leave feeling as great as I did. I felt so refreshed and amazing after I was just feeling like crap an hour before so tired. It was also super great that Kandi was extremely knowledgable about all the products and how much I could see that she loved her job and had such a passion for it. It really made the experience A++++ Honestly, I could go on and on about how this experience was so great but I will spare you. I actually went home and bought another Groupon for my boss because that experience was just too good not to share. I have never really been interested in going to salons/spas routinely, but I think my visit here just sold me on going to this salon/spa permanently, already signed up for the membership as well. I've been coming here for a couple of years now for hair and massages. I love their space it's modern, clean and just calms you. Staff is always super nice and helpful. Their massages though...I've used Mayra quite a few times now, I discovered her amazing skills last year when I was pregnant and oh my goodness one of the best massages I've ever had and I've had many, from many really crappy ones to good ones and she's maybe the one that's been amazing and she's right down the street from me!!! Came back for cut and color. Told the stylist everything I wanted. The color came out fantastic. Exactly what I wanted, however the cut is a bit shorter than what I am use to. It is hard to style it at home with my regular curling iron (it's too big now and my hair won't hold the curl which is never a problem for my hair) and the ends are WAY too blunt (thought I was pretty clear about not wanting that). Was contacted by the owner to come back in and fix my hair. They were able to take me really quickly and fixed me right up. The cut looks great. The staff treats you excellently. I've been meaning to write this review for weeks now but went on vacation and forgot. I bought a Groupon for services at this salon and Natalia did my hair. We had a slight misunderstanding over terminology and I was a bit uncomfortable with my initial color process, but after sitting down and talking things out, we figured out the miscommunication and she went back in and got me closer to what I wanted. Since my hair was pretty healthy, having been untouched for about 3yrs, she advised me to go slow with the extreme color change that I wanted (brunette to blond) and I am glad we did just do a gradual lightening. I've had facials before but never extractions (I was excited and pleased with results), I was surprised it didn't hurt. I am so happy with the experience. I tried this salon and was very disappointed in the service. I had a newer stylist and she did not seem to know how to cut hair. I told her I have thick hair and I needed it layered. She cut all my hair one length and it is crooked from one side to the other. I asked for my hair color to be lighter than it currently was and that I don't like dark roots. So she dyed my roots black and gave me orange tinted highlights. It looks horrible! I came in with dark blonde hair and just wanted to add some lighter blonde highlights! I paid $300 for this horrible haircut and color! She also charged me $40 for some hair moisturizing treatment that I did not know about, she was not up front about these added services! I will never come back to this salon. My mom also went to this salon and paid $60 for a stylist to barely trim her hair so I had to cut her hair for her when she got home! These people do not know what they are doing! *response to the comment by salon, they did text me and I have texted back multiple times with no actual response to my issue. I went to lux a few weeks ago to get a cut and a hair dye. Well the cut came out wonderfully that's way I gave at least three stars. The color on the other hand was done horribly. I asked for blond and red highlights. I walked out with maybe two little blond highlights. Considering that I was paying $250 I'd want my money's worth. So disappointed. If you do come here I suggest you go with an experienced stylist. read more

I have been going here for awhile now and really like it. I see Amanda (she's tall, with short hair -- I think there are two Amandas). I've been really happy with my highlights and lowlights and particularly happy with her cutting skills. Plus, she's honest with me. :) Something that is nice is that they consult with you and generally will offer you two options, with different price points, the first time you go. I've dyed my hair red by box dye and going to salons for the last 12 years. I had been looking for new place after recently moving and I stumbled on a groupon for this place for $45 for $100 in service with $10 towards a product. looked it up on yelp and they had awesome reviews, and I came across one where a stylist has done this girls hair ombré purple. Since I was looking for red purple ombré hair I decided to book and call her. Upon arriving to the saloon 15 mins prior to my service I was greeted by a nice lady at the front counter who asked how she could help, told her at I had an appointment, said be a couple moments and offered me some tea and i took a seat. 15 mins come by and my hair lady came out and introduced herself (lily) she showed me wear the robe room was ( pretty cool, you can change out of your shirt to keep clean and gives you a nice comfy robe. She walked me over to where she be doing my hair, sat down with me and went over what I wanted. She told me she was unsure if my hair would take the purple because of the red I already had. She proceeded to do a test strip on my hair and while that was cooking she went to go write up how much everything would be so I would know. ( I'm so glad she did because I was n a shock) after my test strip was done, she told me she was still unsure if my hair would take the purple because of my already hair color. Pricing break down: I had groupon for $100 that I paid $45 for that was good for color, cut, styling For just coloring my hair red was around $100 if I remember $145 for coloring red and cut $245 for purple red and cut After going over the pricing with her she told me she was still unsure if the purple would work even show etc, it could be just dark purple, pink purple it was pretty unclear what it would be. So in the end I was dead set on get purple red so I told her just to go for it and I'd hope for the best because I'd never know if the purple would work if i didnt try. So we started the long process.....LONG LONG PROCESS i was there from 1:45 tell a little after 6. (ill sum it up the process for you) She started with my roots, and went on color and adding the red towards top/half down and towards the bottom she was stripping my red/bleaching it so she could later add on the purple. Took forever... I also have medium length hair but it's just a long process, of sitting (my ass fell asleep) after she was done I had to sit, wait and let my hair cook. She washed my hair and took me back to my seat brushed out my hair and begging to blow dry it for the next process. there was a surprise neck shoulder massage that comes with every cut which was pretty awesome. She came up to me and told me she didn't know if she would have enough time to cut my hair because she had an appointment after me , and that she was running behind and if I could come back for that. Told her I couldn't because I work 7 days a wk and i hardly get a day off here and there from work and asked her if anyone else could do it. She smiled ok, and proceeded to go make the purple. A lady came back with her I believed name Jessica or Jess helped her with the rest of my hair double teaming adding in my purple and go to help her on her other client. I sat and had my hair cook while she cut the other ladies hair, and Jessica came back and washed out my hair, dryer it and said that lily would be over to finish cutting my hair. Lily came back and my purple came out awesome!!!!! She cut my hair laying the sides and back giving me cut bangs ( mine where past my chin), and even curled it for me. ( which was awesome because my bf had a surprise date for me that night ( i suck at curling my own hair since its thin and doesn't hold curls for long seems, but hers stayed!) I was chatting her with about my surprise date since he texted me that while I was there) let me just say the cut color and styling was amazing!! And all the other stylist loved it and I'm so in love with my hair. Luckily I had the whole day off because it took 5 hours nearly for the whole process, which I knew take awhile but next time I'll bring my nook since magazines get boring and cell phones die. I also found a sm section that still had the stripped/bleached part of my hair that didn't get the purple which is disappointing since i paid so much for this process. The salon was an over all great experience, and wonderful service! I will for sure be back to see lily again. It was super pricy considering paying $245 for red purple ombré hair with cut, but luckily I had $100 off with my groupon. read more

I've decided that this is my new hair place, and that Joseph is my new stylist. He gave me the perfect hair color I was looking for, and I couldn't be happier with it! He even helped me ease into a shorter cut than usual, so it's not too big of a shock. I've always loved Aveda products, and am so glad I found a new Aveda salon that could be just as good as the last place. And what I still love about this kind of salon is the quality of the work and the care they take to make sure their clients are happy. They may be a bit pricey but it's the quality of the work and experience that you get, which makes it worth it. Not to mention the free hand massages when they're shampooing your hair, it's the best!! read more

I have been missing the Aveda salon I used to go to in Florida, so set out to find one here and found a Groupon for Lux Aveda in Fullerton. Since I really like the downtown Fullerton area, I didn't mind driving a bit from Long Beach. Zero complaints from me! Karina did a great job with my pre-haircut massage, shampoo and botanical treatment, the haircut itself, and the blow dry and style. She really listened to what I wanted for my hair and also gave helpful suggestions, per my request, on how to improve my ever-fading highlights. The girl at the front desk was nice, as well. I like the fact that the tip can be included with credit and debit card charges. At my prior salon, tips could only be in cash, something I don't carry a lot of out of habit. No extra trips to the ATM here! I also really like that the salon is a couple of blocks away from the busy area of Commonwealth Ave. they have their own parking lot in the back of the building! Hooray! I'll be back soon to have my highlights revived. read more

This place has the WORST customer service! I booked ahead for a late after-work appointment, the day before my business trip and had a long conversation with them at the time of appointment, then with no notice, they called me on the day of my appointment and canceled on me, leaving me with no place to go last minute for hair cut/color that I needed to have before leaving on business. My business is out on stage, in front of an audience, speaking at conferences and running media events, so you can imagine what a predicament this place left me in. I bought myself a Groupon for $45 for $100 worth of services at Lux based on the great reviews I saw online. However, I wasn't able to make it in time before it expired, so I sent my mom in my place. I was able to set up an appointment easily online and appreciated the reminder emails/texts. I randomly chose a stylist who was available at a time that worked for my mom, and ended up with Jasmine Cendejas. I can't tell you enough how much my mom ADORED Jasmine and the work she did! She was absolutely thrilled with how her hair came out, loved the recommendations Jasmine gave her, and even bought some of the products.
