Lux is the kind of beauty supply store we need for this area. You can shop comfortably without feeling as though you're in south central LA with someone following you and saying " hurry up and buy !". The store owner is very professional and kind. The associates, stock boys and cashiers are friendly and work hard. They have great prices here on Mizani products. Unfortunately they did not have the crochet hair that I needed for my style. You can sign up for their rewards program to earn points on your purchase as well. They were nice enough to include sample products in my shopping bag. I wish the store was larger to fit all the aisles and products that's my only issue. read more

Lux beauty is huge and has a large supply of hair products and accessories including wigs, braiding hair, ponytails, extensions, etc. The staff is very friendly and helpful when you have any questions about pricing or are trying to locate products. At this store I feel comfortable and aren't followed around while I shop like some stores do. They also have a rewards program that you get points for every time that you shop here. Last time that I came here I brought too much braiding hair and was able to return the unopened packages without an issue. I def recommend Lux beauty. read more

This is more for the interview side of things: I didn't get to interview due to terrible scheduling and nasty remarks on the manager's part. The managers here were rude and nasty and wanted me to risk my life in a storm just to prove to them I was a worthy candidate. I informed them of the State of Emergency that happened the day of my original interview hours ahead by the way, I asked for a reschedule for the next day at the same time. I then called them the day of the next interview scheduled ahead of time again to let them know while I was out heading there that I would be a little late sadly due to high traffic. The manager's response was "Well basically you're done you missed yesterday's appointment and you missed today and we are more interested in other candidates at this time and honestly you're done so you move on, but if you want you can come in and try". What kind of so-called professional response is that? When I informed them previously of the state of emergency ahead of time and rescheduled for the next day at the same time as the original but all of a sudden the time changed to something I did not request. To me, the manager I spoke to just automatically assumed I was the absolute worst human being who goes around stealing and killing or something to that nature and decided to show his true colors. Or possibly they found another candidate who they thought was perfect and on the spot so he decided to take the unprofessional route and run me off the position. Strange indeed, if this is how the candidates are treated imagine the inside they're being treated worst. read more

While they do have a large variety of products, they also have a discrimination problem. I, an African American woman, was gathering products to purchase and noticed the manager or whoever the thin Asian man with glasses was, standing close by and pretending to look up on the shelves. For as long as I stood there, he stood there quietly monitoring. As soon as I went to speak to a person who was stocking the shelves, who was just on the other side of the man, the man immediately left. It was an offensive experience because I am NOT a thief and was there to legitimately purchase products that I needed. Being monitored the way that I was gives the impression that the male thought that because I am African American that I was there to steal. I did not see the male following anyone else around. I will not support this establishment again and will advise other African Americans not to support them either. read more

Purchase bundles with them at your own risk! If I could give a zero star I would. Manager Day is very passive aggressive. He has no customer service skills. I purchased bundles from this store at almost closing and called them the following morning to inquire about the return policy due to the bundles shedding hair and the hair being SUPER thin once I unwrapped it. The manager (Day) was given the phone by his employee who had just sold me the product and remembered me from just making the purchase the night before. He answered the phone very nice sounding and acting almost as if he cares about your problem. He will let you explain the entire problem seeming as if he understands your concern but the whole time he already knows that he is not gonna do anything different for you other than what (his policy) states. SMH! He has a very slick mouth and over talks you as the customer. (What manager does that) Even when you are speaking in a decent tone explaining your concern toward the problem. I purchased bundles at almost 7pm on a Wednesday (at closing) and called to exchange them for a better quality at 9am on Thursday (at store opening). He tells me that because the bundles were opened I would have to pay a 20% restock fee to EXCHANGE. So pretty much about $45 restock fee just to exchange the bundles to purchase a better quality hair that would cost me an additional almost $100 more than the previous hair anyway. ( which I was totally ok with) I will not be returning to this location. I would suggest anyone who goes here to do your homework on their hair before you walk out the door. I never write a bad review on any place unless I truly come across a bad experience and this was the quintessential bad beauty supply store experience.I did call the shop prior to going to make sure they had the merchandise I was looking for. I spoke to a very polite gentleman who told me they did. I was greeted when I walked in the store which was nice. However, the people who worked in the back of the store with the wigs gave another experience. First,I asked to try on wigs. I wasnt that suprised by their policy (which at some BSS's , is customary) , I can only try on 3 wigs per wig cap and I must buy the wig cap myself for $1. When the lady in the wig service area approached me she reiterated the posted policy and asked me for $1. I told her I had no cash but I will pay on my card. She asked again for the $1, I told her again I didnt have cash and she repeatedly told me I had to pay on my debit card and there was a $5 minimum (another customary BSS policy). I told her I understood and would comply.I tried on two wigs which she handed me with no problem. The last wig I tried on I loved! It was blonde and I didnt want blonde so I ask for two darker colors. She brought those out. Then I asked if the wig was available in a dark red and she said she already brought me the other colors so that was what I asked for. That was very rude. I also tried to take a picture of how it looked for a 2nd opinion and she told me NO PICTURES! Another customer standing right beside me said "You all let me take pictures when I was in here last". Excellent customer service! This beauty supply store surpasses all the rest in Raleigh. First of all, their selection is vast and the prices are very affordable ($25 for the new clampless hair curlers). But the best part about this store is its customer service. A hair savvy guy named Daniel practically walked me through the whole store when I asked him for help finding a curler. I went again another time looking for temporary hair extensions, and he was super resourceful spending almost a full 15 minutes helping select the perfect ones. What a great experience!!! read more

Pros: competitive pricing, good selection of wigs and beauty supplies, store associates ready and willing to help. Cons: I definitely felt rushed after selecting the wigs I wanted. The manager came and called me from where I was shopping telling me to come to the register and pay for the wigs. I was clearly still shopping so I found that to be pretty rude and dumb from a business standpoint.(don't you want me to buy more?) Most Beauty supply stores will hold your merch at the front since they don't trust you to hold it (*eyeroll*) and allow you to purchase at your leisure. But not this store!
