I have been going to lux for quite some time now never complained about my nails always satisfied this week. I booked an appointment for Friday at 11 with Emma. I was told Emma was on vacation. I didn't ask for Tina. They say yes Tina was available so then my schedule appointment was booked. I arrived at 11 on Friday. To be serviced, I waited a good 2025 minutes With an appointment, but it was OK because I had nothing to do with that day. I was thanked for my patience from her husband. I was getting started my pedicure by another artist which I didn't ask for Tina because I had a nail appointment with her at 11. She went back and came back and said yes they know I'm finishing up with my pedicure is now time for my nails I was told to sit in Tina seat, I sit there thinking he's gonna prep me for my nails, and Tina was gonna walk in any minute. She never showed up. Once I got home, I realized that all my polishes lifted from every single one of my toes when I got a gel pedicure, so that should never happen. I called the next morning and ask for the owner, which is Tina. She told me no problem and to come back in. I said there for a good 15 minutes, showed her my problem and told her my problem. She told me one second no one acknowledged me 15 minutes ago by she say sit in a chair I said in a minutes, go by so then I walked over to her politely and I said hey Tina, can you tell me who am I waiting for? I have a wedding this morning and I had an appointment yesterday and I waited a very long time for, but you never showed up she said rudely and loud in front of everybody can't you see we busy and can't you see I'm sick as if any of that was my problem I want to thank the guy that did do my toes and handle me very professional while Tina sat and talked about me rudely in her language, thinking that I didn't understand when I had on a translator. Her lack of concern communication and unprofessionalism is why I won't be back. It was so uncalled for. read more

I waited anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes past my scheduled time and the technician I originally booked with was switched without notice and the service felt rushed. Lux is fantastic! Super clean, everyone is friendly and just an overall great nail salon. I moved to the area about a year ago and started going here in the last 6 months. It's easy to make an appointment online but they also take walk-ins which I greatly appreciate. I went today to get a regular pedicure and a gel manicure but I wanted to get some holiday designs. They did great on my short, natural nails! Can't wait to show my family at Christmas! Only downside is the parking lot that can fill up quickly. read more

I had a very frustrating experience here and won't be returning. I arrived 15 minutes early to pick out my polish color (knowing I take a while to choose) but was repeatedly asked if I was ready and even had the technician tapping the nail file impatiently on the desk. It made me feel rushed and anxious, even though it wasn't even my appointment time yet. I picked out three different colors, and each time I was told, "they don't look the same in the bottle" as they do on the swatch board. When I asked to see the actual polish bottles, I was met with visible annoyance. It left me wondering, if nails are your primary service, how do you not have accurate or consistent color displays? Then, when I went to pay, I was told the total was $40 for a basic gel manicure. I politely asked why, since I thought it was supposed to be $30 based on their website. I pulled it up, and next to each service there's a number under to the word "min." I assumed that meant "minimum price," as many salons use that kind of layout, especially when additional services like gel removal or nail art cost extra. Instead, I was told the numbers listed were actually the minutes each service takes. That's extremely misleading, and I only chose this salon thinking it was one of the most affordable. In reality, it's one of the most expensive I've been to. Just a disappointing experience all around..from being rushed, to unhelpful service, to misleading pricing. read more

First time visiting Lux Nail Spa. My daughter and I have been trying to find a new nail place. I've been looking specifically for quality of service, ambiance and a nail tech who can do designs. It was my first visit and I'd like to do a second visit. Not ready to call it my spot yet. Pros: Beautiful and clean. You do feel like you're going to have a luxurious experience. Was able to call the same day to set up 2 pedis and 2 fills. Lots of technology, so I was able to check us in. They offered water. Huge selection of colors and a variety of products/services. They took their time, both my daughter and I commented on noticing that. Cons: It's a bit pricey. That decor and technology is going to cost you more than the nail salon down the street. But we also got designs on our nails and I forgot to school my daughter on the price of designs. Now my technician didn't seem confident in his capabilities in doing a design. However my daughter had a nail tech who felt confident and able to do her design. So I took a star for my design. I like it but I was nervous on how it would come out. Warning: pictures of 2nd degree chemical burns. I want to first say that I have had a lot of great experiences at Lux up until this point, and they even did my nails for my wedding earlier this year. So it pains me to make this post, but I am absolutely flabbergasted by what happened to me, and the response from the business. I went for a pedicure for my birthday with friends, and at one point my tech put a liquid all over my feet and in went between my toes. I didn't know and wasn't told what this liquid was but my toes started burning REALLY badly. My tech told me to put my foot in the water and continued to work on them. It still hurt but the tech didn't look concerned and continued to due my pedicure so I just sucked it up. After service was completed, I tipped and paid for my service and sat to wait for my friends who came with me. I was completely shocked to look in between my toes and saw that the skin was completely gone and burned off. I was looking directly at my flesh. My friend asked for a first aid kit, because I was too stunned, and not only did they not have a suitable first aid kit (we made due with the one piece of gauze they had by taping it around my toes) I asked for antibiotic ointment they said they had none and offered TO POUR RUBBING ALCOHOL ON IT. The tech and person in charge then told me I needed to go buy ointment and then kept asking me if this was there BEFORE my appointment. I couldn't understand them at first and they kept saying "don't come in for a pedicure" if I had an injury prior. Not only did I not have an injury before I came in for this service, but it felt like they were actively trying to blame me for getting chemical burns while smiling at me. My friend looked at what they had poured on the inside area of my toes and it was callous remover with a high concentration of acid that essentially melted my skin off. My tech was never supposed to put that chemical on a sensitive area of the foot. Because they were so dismissive I initially just left because I was shocked and didn't know what to do. I was not offered medical care, a refund or anything. I paid over 50 dollars plus a $20 tip to be chemically burned, and now am spending more money on medical supplies and care. I am including these pictures because I want people to see the reality of the situation since they seem to not feel it's serious. I ended up calling them about 30 minutes later after I realized through a friend that I essentially had at least 2nd degree chemical burns and asked for a refund and to talk to a manager about the safety concerns. I was told I could come in "Monday" and talk to Tina and said nothing could be done right now. I expressed to them the seriousness of the situation, and that I live an hour away and am unable to take off work to come in. They said they can't give me a refund unless I "talk to Tina and sign some papers." Tina called me the next day and said that I told their staff "I had an open wound before I came in" and accused me of threatening her when I stressed this was not accurate and I felt dismissed and pressured by staff. Tina seemed to not care at all about the safety concerns I presented. I was told I could come in person for a "cash refund" of my service and would have to sign a waiver releasing them from any liability. I asked if they could refund my card and was told no, "cash only." This is so incredibly shady, I'm not comfortable signing this. I will not be returning. Please be careful at this salon, I'm in pain and I would hate for anyone else to go through this. read more

Best pedicure ever! I came in here for the first time today, and everything was extremely clean, and air was fresh, no overwhelming chemical odors. (Should not be rare, but often a problem at other salons) They got us right in, and I selected the spa pedi. She did an excellent job, all points 5 stars. Not a single point of criticism. The massage chairs looked quite new, and unlike so many, we're extremely easy to use! (I am often trying to figure out how to get the settings right the whole hour.) I have many great experiences with each mail tech at Lux. They take their time and make sure you are happy.

I absolutely loooove this place! They have a lot of fun colors, the staff is very polite, the atmosphere is very modern, and overall the entire experience is pampering. It's the only place I can find that uses hot stones during a pedicure (the paraffin wax added on at the end completes the experience, though, so don't forget to ask for that)! Who I recommend: 1.) My FAVORITE is Chris for nails. The reason? He is the ONLY nail esthetician in Bel Air/Harford County that will do ombré on my natural nails. Ladies.... NO ONE WILL DO THAT FOR ME BUT HIM. Everywhere else I hear the same thing, "your nails aren't long enough, you need acrylic," so I downgrade to basic gel, each time. Chris was up for the challenge and was such a perfectionist... both the first time and the next, my nails look so much better than they've ever been (plus they actually last 2-3 weeks, something I haven't experienced elsewhere)! I can't wait to go back. Hello, Ombré October! 2.) Oscar is also a close second as being my favorite. He's hilarious and makes every effort to get to know you. I took my mom for her birthday on July 23rd and he did her pedicure (put her to sleep he was so good)! I went back August 11th and he asked how she enjoyed her birthday. I can hardly remember someone I met 10 minutes ago, and here he is remembering my mother's birthday without even seeing her! While Chris is my go-to guy for fingernails, Oscar is my go-to guy for pedicures. He will make sure he spoils you and won't let you leave unhappy! 3.) Tina! Sorry there wasn't space higher up on the list but Tina is another noteworthy mention! If Chris is unavailable for fingernails, you won't go wrong with her. I've seen her do some COOL designs. Both Tina and Chris truly are very professional and talented in every way. The only downside is the parking can be tight, especially during rush hour. It's a small parking lot that's shared with other businesses, but I've never had a problem with not finding a spot. I was a walk in so no appointment and didn't get to pick my nail tech which is definitely worth mentioning. I asked for a design and the nail tech I was assigned (Dina) said she could do it but ultimately could not. I wish she would've said from the beginning that she wouldn't be able to do the design so I could've chosen a different color. The nail tech tried the design a few times and each time it was pretty uneven so I just asked her not to do a design. The nails with regular gel polish were very bumpy and uneven. When removing the design the nail tech didn't remove it all so my pinky has some extra gold sparkle where the rest of my nails do not. Other reviews show this place as having good line work but that was not the case for me so I don't think I will return. read more

Had appointments and were the only two in the salon. It took two hours for a regular pedi and dip mani, and no foot or hand massage with either. There were also lots of hidden fees including fees to take off old polish and for a "special nail shape" even though they are just my natural nail rounded? It was $110 when my usual salon charges 80 for both those services. It's clean inside, but I didn't like that they switched me from the person who did my pedicure for my manicure and that the man working the register kept standing over the lady doing my nails. Scheduled appointment for a full ombré set, the nail tech had a attitude because i wanted flat tips and not curved tips. Then when she was putting the tips on one was crooked and she began to argue with me saying it was straight to her. I asked if she could take off the ONE nail and redo it, she said sarcastically "what do you want it all the way over here?!" showing completely sideways. She then said if i can't do this time i can't do your nails. She had the other nail tech that does acrylics to come put the nail on for her. I've debated writing this review for a while, but after going to home to my nail salon in Philly, they were shocked by the state of my nails. I was in town visiting family and booked an appointment for a pedicure and UV gel fill in. I had 3 damaged nails that needed repair. Instead of filing down and soaking off the damaged nails, my nail tech took a nail tip and wedged it under the broken nails and peeled them off. This is was really uncomfortable and slightly painful, and I just seemed a bit lazy. He then went to glue on a new tip to one of my nails and put it on crooked. He then attempted to rip it off, and I pulled my hand away and said ouch, as that was super painful. Instead taking a few minutes to soak off the crooked tip that didn't even have gel on top of it yet, he just cut down the length and glued a new tip on top, so I've had 2 tips layered on one nail. He was doing a pretty poor job of applying the UV gel evenly that one of the other techs watching took over for him. Overall, just seemed like they were trying to take shortcuts instead of doing what was right and it ended up damaging my natural nails in the long run. Would not recommend. read more
