This place was chaotic when I walked in on a Saturday afternoon. There were at least 5 women just sitting, and when I asked for a pedicure, they blankly stared at each other. The quality has declined quickly at this salon. They're constantly over booking. It seems like you get pushed aside when someone else comes in who's bill is higher. New staff is obviously not trained from the looks of the end result. There's a woman who's always answering the phone making appointments in the middle of your appointment. The salon is new and very clean. Can be a little pricey but definitely worth it compared to other places around the area! After two visits, this is a mixed bag. My first visit several weeks ago was fantastic. I called in the morning and made an appointment for me and my daughter later that afternoon. I had the deluxe pedicure and couldn't be happier. The woman did a great job and the treatment was both relaxing and effective. My daughter had a gel manicure while I was getting my pedicure, and it came out great. It lasted quite long. We decided to go back based on this first experience, and were very disappointed. Once again I made an appointment, but when we arrived we were told it would be a 30 min. wait. They were extremely busy and had a lot of walk-ins. After 30 min. we were still sitting there. What made it worse is that they took people who came in before us, even though they didn't have an appointment! (I know because we asked the people ahead of us in line.) That was the last straw for us and we left without getting anything done. After 40 min. being passed over for walk-ins, I was furious. So my review is mixed based on 2 totally different experiences. They don't have many workers and seem unable to handle more than a few customers at a time. Making matters worse is the fact that appointment times don't mean anything. I went in last week for a pedicure. I like to treat myself once every six weeks for a pedicure. Typically, this is a treat for me. As a previous reviewer indicated, they did try to push gel and I indicated that I did not prefer to go that route. When I arrived, there was a lady already receiving a pedicure. The lady who gave me my pedicure was very nice but never asked me what pedicure package I wanted. Very disappointing. I was in and out of my chair prior to the lady who was there before me. I give very nice cash tips and was disappointed that I received the bare minimum. In the future, you should always ask your customers if they want the minimum or the full package. if I had a choice to come again I wouldn't. you would assume if you make a appt you would go before walks ins, this is false. In addition I would work on communication asking how I liked the length after it's all been cut isn't a good idea when they can't grown back. I woke like to add if client is pulling her hand away from you while your filing I would take it as your hurting them. I was a bride, made the reservation 2 months ago, they lost it. Remade it, paid almost an extra $90 because they didn't care. I paid a $90 deposit for my bridal party. I'm making the review because I'm never going to step foot inside of this salon again. Yes, the decor is modern and it seems clean that's why it's one star. But the interaction between tech and customer is far to be polite. I dont have a set nail tech that I always ask for so i basically have encountered the majority of those who work My favorite has to be Stephanie, but she left the salon. ( wonder why ) I'll give you three encounters I've had that would explain why I'm giving such a negative review. 1) I walked in with a ombré French nail style idea I had in my mind. Now , I purposely ripped off my old set because they can only do that style with pink and white powder is what they have told me before. No biggie. I show the tech the picture , which was pretty simple it's just a basic French but the white fades into the pink. Yikes, was I wrong! She starts shaping my nails into the widest shape I have ever had. She kept saying if I approved. I said a little too wide , she goes oh no after I finish it'll be more narrow. Alright, cool. Here comes the disaster. She clumps up the pink powder allllllllll the way to the tip. And then adds just a slight bloop of white. In my head I'm thinking , this isn't finished so I shouldn't assume. By the end of it , it was horrible. My nails were shaped the duck feet shaped and the white didn't fade , it looked like a bloop. She kept repeating this wasn't her best job. Okay great... that's nice to know. She could of just told me she's never done this before , and to go to a different tech. I would of understood. But instead spent $80 on nails that looked like I smudged them on purpose. 2) now this encounter was just rude! My palms get a little sweaty. not every time , usually depends on how bad my anxiety is. As I sit down , the nail tech goes OH YOUR HANDS SO WET. So loud. I was mortified. 3) This was it. I went in for a full set , coffin shape and medium length. Everything went well. Until I left the place, the nails were so thick yet managed to break within a couple of days. With all this being said , they are VERY overpriced to have poor customer service and below average nails. I took my daughter to get a gel manicure, paid, including a 20% tip, and proceeded to wait for her in the car. My daughter came out when she was done, and said that the lady wanted more money, to which I responded that we had paid. She said that the woman was demanding more money. I bounced between a few nail technicians, which made the experience less relaxing than I would have expected for the price. I got gels and acrylics and they both held up, but the polish started getting a yellow-hue after less than a week. Horrible. Nailed already scuffed not even two days after paying $40 for the dip nails. Waited over 30 minutes with an appointment to be seen. Then waited 20 minutes with my nails in the foil. Then was rushed through getting my nails done. Had to ask to get the rogue polish removed from my hands and had no massage, even though I asked and she said it doesn't come with one. Called ahead for an appointment, of course they made us wait 15 minutes.. the pedicure was nice. She did a good job. Pricey though. $38 for a pedicure.. the receptionist was terrible. No greeting, she looked like she wasn't even wearing pants- just a long t shirt that barely covered her butt. My friend checked out, it was 38 dollars. I go to check out and she says "I don't know how much you owe, nobody told me.." the same amount as my friend, we got the same thing.. she's just ignoring me as she's sitting there on her cell phone.. finally I'm like ok can you please ask someone how much I owe because I need to get back to work.. finally she gets off her phone and asks somebody. Called to speak with the manager (Eric), but the girl said he is never there, and only stops in sometimes (this may explain the lockbox on the door!). She then she hung up on me. I was calling to share my technician was too inexperienced for $50 mani/pedi. She cut the outside area of my foot with the abrasive sponge during my pedicure, she needed to be coached through the entire process by another technician beside her, and I had to ask her to rinse the lotion off my legs that she left on by mistake. During my manicure she never lotioned my hands or massaged them, while all other technicians offered this service around me. I mentioned this to another tech after my dry time and he just pointed to a bottle of cream for self-service. Really lovely place but ask for an experienced technician, otherwise you'll need to pay very close attention the entire visit! read more

I gave the salon only 3 stars because I did like how clean the salon was. The Tech I had for my pedicure was great she did a great job. The tech I had for my manicure did not speak English, which made it very uncomfortable. I got my legs waxed there yesterday and was impressed with how gentle the process was considering someone is ripping hair off. I followed up with a really nice pedicure. There is a real emphasis on hygiene, (disposable plastic liners for the foot bath) a nice foot massage with the basic pedicure. I brought my own polish (Smith & Cult), but I noticed that they had OPI, China Gaze, and I think Essie? ( I don't do gel)... They are interested in having a really large selection of colors and products for you to choose from. Prices are suburbia not city, so I chose the polish change rather than manicure for my hands as I can't have the cuticles done, so no massage there. They were really nice about staying after they were 'closed' to finish up and for appointments. I will go back! read more

Too bad this place is so out of the way for me. Had an appointment nearby and was overdue for a mani pedi so went in and had a fantastic experience! It was also $50 for both, which is a lot less than I'm accustomed to so awesome price. Those chairs in the pedicure area are awesome. I saw a lot of people coming in and taking full advantage of the back massage and just melting into the chair. That room also had a fancy chandelier--very fun! Only change I would make is some sort of note on a guidance of how long you need to keep your hands in the UV/heater at the end. I got up too early and ruined a nail, so guidance for people who have not used that particular kind of machine would be helpful. I tried Lux Nails on a gorgeous Sunday. It was not crazy busy so I was able to get right in. Given the quality, location and attractiveness of the space, I think I hit it just right. I can only imagine that on Saturdays they must be incredibly busy. First and foremost, the young lady who gave me my mani-pedi was just a delight and she did a great job. I'm also impressed that she is a full time college student and is very engaging. Her name is Kimberly and I highly recommend her. I know that she will go on to do amazing things in her future career. The owner/manager is also very attentive and unlike many other nail salons I did not feel rushed or "a number." There was genuine care shown for me on my recent visit. I'm not a regular manicure person. This was a personal treat for myself and they did not disappoint....and even when I dinged my nail (my fault) they quickly repaired the nail. I think I could get used to this and perhaps will become more regular in getting a professional manicure in the future. The venue has attractive décor which lends to the experience of feeling pampered and it's location is so convenient - I was able to do my grocery shopping at Wegmans after my appointment. While I'm not a regular manicure person, I have been to other venues in Northborough. Based on those experiences, I have to say that this is the best place that I personally know in Northborough to get a manicure. This is a nice fresh convenient location. I will be back! The first time I came here I was just planning to "check it out" as I was pretty happy with my regular nail salon. I have since been back here a few times and it's safe to say I've broken up with my old salon to come to this one. Lux nails is extremely clean and well decorated. Everything is new. They have so many colors to choose from, and I've never had to wait to get my nails done here. I like how they also have TVs to watch while you are getting your nails done. Definitely happy to have this nail salon in Northborough!! My nails always look great, and as far have never started peeling before my two weeks is up! read more

Appointments here are not reliable. Have been here several times- always seem to be running late. Allowed 90 minutes for manicure and pedicure but could only get pedicure as they were running late. Will never go back. Nails took an hour and a half and look AWFUL. Hannah was so rude and could not have looked more miserable to be there if she wanted to. She kept accidentally hitting my cuticle with the acrylic buzzer thing and every-time I jolted she grabbed my hand and would just stare at me with this awful glare. She didn't clean up my nail bed or cuticles before she started. The nails are completely uneven with bubbles and dents all over them. She then started complaining about how a customer earlier did not tip her (so unprofessional and completely understandable why she didn't). She kept getting up during the manicure to go into the back, she also kept stopping and talking to the other workers. When it came time for the lotion part I was so upset and on the verge of tears for the amount of time I had been sitting there that I said don't even bother and told her that I just wanted to leave. I visited Lux Nails yesterday because I was overdue for a mani pedi and it was down the street from my house-super convenient! The place just opened about 2 weeks ago in the newly constructed Northborough Shopping center, excellent location so everything was newly built with all new equipments and design. First impression, really nicely designed, clean, simple yet elegant. I made an appt so I was quickly greeted and shown to the pedicure room. The staff helped me picked out my color and suggested trying the powder dip manicure for it's longer lasting and less likely to chip, which I needed. The pedicure was excellent, my lady Mya did a great job, making sure I was comfortable and satisfied. My manicure took some time because she wanted to be sure it came out perfectly! Care and attention were top notched! I ended up staying a little later than closing but the owners Eric and Anna were very accommodating and made sure my nails were dried before letting me leave! Overall experience was great, as any visit should be so I will be returning for sure! Two thumbs up!!! read more

First of all I have worked in a nail salon as an esthetician for 3 years so I can be skeptical of nail services (only because I have seen the spectrum from amazing to disastrous) I stopped into Lux nails with minimum time available to me and asked if they could take me as a walk in for a fast pedicure they were very accommodating and got me in right away My nail tech Nee was very fast but also precise and even though I was in and out in just over 30 minutes I felt like I had a full relaxing pedicure She also fully handled my ingrown nail situation like a true professional and didn't hurt me at all If Nee could get this kind of result rushing I can only imagine what she could do without some crazy client in a rush I will definitely be back when I have more time to enjoy the service. read more

This place is hit or miss. I think I come because it is clean and convenient because it certainly isn't for the exceptional work. I do regualr mani pedis so nothing special or fancy, it should be the easiest thing to get right. To start they never use cuticle softner. When they file there is no shape or method, they just file away. When I leave and look down it's like a surprise. And today they tried to upcharge me for regular Essie nail polish. Made an appointment early in the day, offered to come any time as long as I could leave to make a hair appointment by 4:30pm; was assured 1 hour for a dip gel would be fine so please come for 3:30. Arrived 15 min early, was not seated til 10 min after my appointment and left sitting 10 min more without a word. Finally inquired and was told it would be a bit more time as the gal was finishing a pedi. Could not wait since now only 30 min to hair appointment. 2nd time at this location that this happened. Beautiful place. The pedicure area is in the back of the salon with very comfortable seats and two large tv's to watch at either angle. I loved the fact that they use plastic liners in the foot tub that they replace after each customer. The technician really took her time and did a great job. Probably one of the best pedicures yet. After the pedicure I went to the front of the salon for my manicure. Again the nail tech took her time to make sure my nails looked great. I also love that they have the nail polish colors by number so you just tell them the number of the color you choose and they get the polish set in gel for your nails and the matching non gel for your toes. Which is great as many salons only have the color in gel and then you have to try and match the same color in non gel. I would highly recommend!! read more

What a great experience I had today at Lux Nails of Northborough after a long commute. Light jazz music playing in the background while you soak in the design of this salon with high ceilings, spacious, fireplace while catching something on the tele. There were soft, velvet like monogrammed towels to dry your hands with. The finishing touches were tastefully done. While I was trying to decide on a color, the owner, Eric, mentioned a new process with gel nails where you do not use a UV light. I was sold. For those who have had radiation, may understand that it hurts to have your hands in the UV for gel manicures. I could not decide on a color for my nail and Eric brought out Mya to assist me. She picked a great color that works with my skin tone. Mya also took the time to explained the process to me. She has a calming voice and is engaging. My nails came out great! What a great way to end a hectic day with a long commute. I am looking forward to the next experience with them. read more

If you like thick lumpy gel nails with visible brush strokes, pedicures that are painful because the provider is massaging so hard while not paying attention to what she's doing and to top it off a rude staff then by all means...go to Lux Nails. I went there last night for a dip manicure. It was ok but not great. No hand massage, I asked for squared tips but got round and finally she smudged the top coat on three of the nails. She was also very quick - I was out within 35 minutes because she didn't take any care. For $40 I expected a better finish and more care. read more
