This place is truly European - high end products and equipment coupled with the most professional friendliest service. The spa itself is super clean and beautifully decorated. Go for Vita's massage! This review pains me to write. Rosemary is a gifted esthetician and I've loved the services I've had there. She's the ONLY reason this gets even 2 stars. My issue is with the new owner and her lack of common courtesy and business sense. I always book my next appointment at the time of service, and I go every 6-8 weeks. At my last appointment, the new owner booked my appointment for today, and gave me my reminder card. I show up today for my facial, and she had booked someone else into the same slot. Issue 1 - the owner never apologized! Only Rosemary did, and she had no fault here. The only thing the owner said was that it was her writing on the appointment card I had. Stating the obvious doesn't really solve the problem. Issue 2 - why was it my appointment that wasn't honored? Clearly mine was booked well in advance. Is my business somehow less valued? Issue 3 - no offer to somehow compensate me shows gross disrespect for my time and complete lack of appreciation for my continued patronage. The icing on the cake for me is that I had planned to purchase a couple of products, and had been waiting until this appointment to do so rather than making a trip to Ulta. Now I have the additional inconvenience of having to go the the store to make my purchases. So, because the owner clearly doesn't value my time or my business, I'll have to find a new spa (there are plenty) and Ulta will see additional business from me for products. A simple apology from the person who messed up was all that was needed, and it never happened. Completely unacceptable. read more

Facial was quite nice, they use Yonka products which is a great line, but makeup "training" session experience was a nightmare. They offer it for a steep price but they are not qualified to train anyone, not even close. Basically the girl, who works there, brought her home makeup (I am not joking, big trunk of her own makeup) and tried to apply it on my teen daughter. Without any idea how to do contouring or make it flattering, using her home-brought tools, no wonder result was quite upsetting. I could have done a much better job myself, and I have no expertize in it whatsoever. She washed all of it off the first thing when we came home. I would have probably went for another facial at this place but makeup session experience was a big disappointment, so that is very unlikely. read more

Love the SPA! The place is very clean and modern, people working there are extremely nice and attentive. My appointment started on time, the music playing was just the right volume and very relaxing. I was offered some soft drinks of my choice, so I chose green tea and the lady also brought some chocolate covered almonds with cookies. The owner (Sveta) was the one who I booked my facial with and I got my money worth and then some! I was put on extremely comfortable table with clean white sheets and she did her magic by the book of the real european facial! My face is still feeling very soft and rejuvenated and I will definitely go back and get my facial there again and again and again! read more

Complete relaxation from the moment you walk through the door. Rosemary is very knowledgeable about skincare and quickly places you at ease. Ambiance of the Spa was peaceful. Talk about a hidden gem..... tucked conveniently at the junction of Rte 9 and 140 in Shrewsbury. When my 15 year old daughter first visited Piel in August this year.... I can honestly say my skin was "a mess!!" I am a 45 year old Mom and my skin has been temperamental since the birth of my son, 11 years ago. I remember feeling so desperate about the state of my skin .....I was on the phone ordering Proactiv from my hospital room. I have been going to a dermatologist regularly for 11 years..... I have been prescribed lotions, antibiotics, accutane, spirnolactone.....I had recently invested in Rodan Fields and was finally seeing some positive results.....but then I had ANOTHER breakout. I would visit Elizabeth Grady and other well known and respected local salons as regularly as I could afford. I had a "facial" at Elizabeth Grady just a week or two before we were scheduled to take our family vacation.... the esthetician had recommended to extract the problematic areas. I was honestly embarrassed to go out during the day. When I arrived at Piel..... Sveta and Lamia and everyone was so welcoming. We were offered fresh filtered water with orange slices or tea..... black or green or coffee. I completed a skin /health questionnaire ....and Lamia took extra time to talk to me ..... and then look at my skin under her magnified mirror .... and then made recommendations of how to proceed. ALL of the products that Piel sells and provides for services are Swiss or French lines.....all natural. Piel offers state of the art equipment.....and they take a holistic approach in promoting healthy skin. I swear Lamia is a miracle worker!! When I left Piel that day I honestly was excited for my family vacation..... and protecting all of her efforts with SUNSCREEN and a hat. In just 3 months .... the texture, tone and appearance of my skin has completely transformed!!! I just can not express how grateful I am to have found this little bit of Heaven right here in Shrewsbury. I am telling you.... if you have an opportunity to treat yourself .... GO!!!! I recently went to piel and was extremely disappointed. I received a 100 gift certificate and tried to use it on products they would not accept it. Saying that they recently bought the spa and wouldn't honor the certified for products. I found this to be very unprofessional and would suggest that you didn't purchase gift certificates especially with the upcoming holiday season the person you purchase the gift for will be disappointed. The woman that waited on me wasn't very pleasant when I questioned why either. Bad experience won't return. read more

I've been coming to Piel for just about 5 years and truly loved the entire experience, from the atmosphere in general, to the receptionist to the treatments. Rosemary is truly gifted and I've loved all the services. It truly pains me to say that since the establishment has come under new ownership Piel's reputation as a quality boutique has diminished significantly to the point where I will begin looking for a new spa. The receptionist is either a male who to be quite honest makes you feel very uncomfortable or as I most recently experienced was a woman who does not even speak English!! During my appointment, this woman was vacumming outside of the room that I was receiving my facial in and then began to yell though the door to Rosemary that she had a phone call. This is so unacceptable and unprofessional!! It is a complete lack of respect for the customer. The apology did not come from the receptionist but from Rosemary who did nothing wrong. I used to recommend Piel as the place to go and going forward I will ensure folks are aware this is NOT the place to go. The only reason why this is 2 stars is for Rosemary - I would give 5 just for her but do not want to give a false rating for Piel. read more
