And there's always great artwork to look at, and if you don't like what's up at the time you can always look at the staff's tattoos. There's also a shop up front that has everything from stickers to handbags to men's clothes. They even have crafty hand-made stuff! If I was going to gripe about anything, I wish they would keep their pomades in stock, but a small gripe compared to what you get here. It's brand new, so give this place a shot. Christy at Luxe De Vil is THE best stylist and colorist EVER!!! As an added bonus, the space is cool and everyone is super friendly. Cut, color, extensions and a really neat retail space - Lux is seriously the BEST. My daughter found her first and her hair has NEVER been better or in better shape even with repeated bleaching and wacky colors. I finally went to Chrsity after years of hohum haricuts and I won't go anywhere else. I even got my mom to go!!! I bought a Groupon for a cut, full highlights, deep conditioning treatment and style for $99. I was told that my appointment was at 11:30am on Saturday. I arrived for my appointment and was told that the salon doesn't even open until noon. That I found strange that the employees don't know their own hours, but that's nothing compared to what happened with my hair! So, my appointment didn't start until noon and I brought in a few pics of a blonde and brown ombre idea that we both agreed on for the color. She even had the same ombre in her hair, which was exactly what we were supposed to be doing to mine, except hers were different colors, but exactly the same look. I also asked for a peek at boo of purple and hot pink. To make a long story short, she bleached my hair blonde on the bottom half and then added the brown top color and the pink and purple. Well, let's just say that I was there for 6 hours!!! 6!!!! I didn't leave until 5:30pm!!!! On top of that, my hair came out completely BROWN!!!! The pink and purple were also done wrong and are so dull, you can barely see them! I told her that I didn't understand because we went through the pics, picked out the 4 colors and she even had the same stye in her own hair, so why was mine solid brown??? Why did we waste 2 hours bleaching my hair initially for her to color it all brown and not leave the ends blonde like she was supposed to?? She responded "Well the lighting isn't very good in here," but that I'd be able to see the 2 tones in better lighting! Seriously??? Then she said that if she would've left the blonde part that it would've been orange apparently. Why wasn't this discussed during the process then? Oh man I was and am so disappointed and irritated with my entire day wasted for a dull brown ugly all over color and a lousy pink and purple streak that is dull and could've been done at home with a box color. To top it all off, I never got a "conditioning treatment" either, which was included in the package that I paid for. I'll add pics to share. I'm super upset about my wasted time and $$. PSA: do not book a haircut with Nicole. My hair has been down to my butt for years and was hoping to just get a 3 inch trim. Straight across. No bangs. No layers. Just straight across. When I told her she said "oh great, easy". I even made a joke about just needing someone who could cut in a straight line. WORST HAIRCUT OF MY LIFE. She wasn't even able to finish it because she cut 10 inches off and it was super choppy and uneven. I had to find another stylist in the store to save me from even more damage. Super dissatisfied with this salon. I was trying to give myself a pick me up and now my hair is the shortest it's been in 15 years, I absolutely hate it, and it will take years to grow back. Honestly I'm really disappointed. I came into this salon about a year ago to get tattoo freckles and to this day they are still way to dark an so unnatural looking. I told my specialist time after time I wanted them to look natural, AS NATURAL AS POSSIBLE. She went in with a tattoo gun (which is a big no no for tattoo freckles I now know) and used DARK BROWN ink. At first everyone assured me they would fade, but a year later and I look like I have little moles all over my nose and cheeks. I really wanted to like this place, then she goes "come back in 4 weeks for a touch up" girl you used the darkest possible ink, I'm never coming back. It was time to get my highlights touched up and searched for a new salon here on yelp (last salon was an Aveda studio in Stapleton I wasn't pleased with). This was the highest rated and coincidentally a groupon was offered, meant to be! I was booked with Abigail and she helped correct my (super blonde) highlights to a more natural caramel for my dark brown hair, and evened out my cut. This place is edgy and fun but they were totally able to help me with my mainstream Cali girl look. Def going back and would recommend. Christy rocks! I went to see her based on the reviews and the generous "free haircut" for first time customers. I'm not great at knowing exactly what to ask for when getting a cut and color. I often ask for the stylist opinion and the conversation starts from there... I left the salon with an awesome new cut and gorgeous color. Time flew by too, Christy and her staff are very welcoming, fun, and knowledgeable plus the ambiance is fun to boot including original art work and Christy's cool re-finished vintage finds. I love Nigel. He remembers stuff about me even if I rarely come in, he's funny and nice, and he gave me big, stripper hair the first time I saw him. There was bounce in my hair and my step that lasted months. But this last time, he seemed distracted by phone calls and a visitor, and the cut was lackluster. It had no movement and seemed flatter than before he cut it. We played phone tag about it for a bit, and then my last text message to him went unanswered. So...I guess that's that. I am not a person who needs or uses any style in their hair, but I do find a massage once or twice a year is amazing, but because of the infrequent nature of my use I tend to try different places rather than the same over and over. To be honest I might try one other to get a better feel for differences, but I was completely happy with massage. I first tried this location because of a living social and was able to get a $30 60 minute massage. When she was doing it I thought she might not have all that much time to make it through my entire body, but really time was just going very slowly... But in a good way. It seemed to last a very long time, and felt amazing. After I use up another coupon I bought I will be looking to head back to Luxe for a little R&R. read more

Well...what a waste of my day. i needed a balayage treatment and booked an appointment well in advance , took time off work only to realize that heather never confirmed the appointment. It was through groupon but fortunately i didnt redeemed the voucher so i rebooked the appointment and when i dropped an email to heather she refused to treat my hairs claiming that i cannot redeem two vouchers anbd her charge is $60 per hour. Th9is entire HOLIDAY GRUOPON DEAL SEEMS LIKE A SCAM THEY ARE RUNNING. I have emails with screenshots where i have not redeemed any voucher, still Heather says its redeemed (in her head she thought thats how she can cheat customers) absolutely a SCAM, i can only imagine what she would have done with my hairs. Being new to the facial world, I was slightly worried that the staff would tell me everything that was wrong with my skin or just try to sell me unnecessary products. I could not have been more wrong! Janell was friendly from the second she introduced herself; I felt like I was hanging out with a good friend the whole time! She talked me through the whole process, gave me product recommendations that have done wonders, and taught me a bunch of stuff that I didn't know about my skin. I showed her some picture ideas for a medium length bob with light blonde ombre for my shoulder length dirty blonde hair. Sanja's cut & color is the closest I've ever gotten to the picture I presented, which, if you've ever been successful at this, you know how exciting it is! Your Junior stylist might need more training. A manager or senior stylist should check his work when he's done. I paid for a group on for my wife to get a TRIM and condition here. The young man chopped up her hair and cut an unreasonable amount off, in an uneven manner. If you don't know how to cut curly hair, refer the client to someone else. If someone literally asks you to "trim off as little as necessary" don't hack half of their hair off. When you're done cutting someone's hair check to make sure it's even. I understand the kid is inexperienced and only has a year in his field, but people shouldn't leave with butchered hair. Hair doesn't just grow back over night. read more

Got my hair done here a couple days ago and absolutely love the color, cut and feel of it. I'm used to going to a salon academy because of the cheap price but every time I left I always felt the cut didn't feel right or there were mistakes in parts of my hair color. I know, I know it's expected due to price and where I was getting my hair cut. Well this time I wanted to feel good about my hair so I went here. My stylist was Adam. He was friendly, helpful and most of all did an amazing job on my hair! I told him how I like my hair but it always seems to turn out different than what I expected and not in a good way! He explained that because each person is different their haircut needs to be personalized and unfortunately the haircut I had was it personalized and was like a cookie cutter style. He corrected my cut and it fits and frames my face perfectly! I wasn't sure about the color but I knew I wanted something dark. He mentioned warm dark colors would look great with my skin complexion and showed me a few. He suggested mixing a couple together and I ended up with the color I've always wanted just never knew how to explain it to previous stylist! Adam also knew that I was using cheap shampoo and conditioner! He told me how he knew and why it wasn't good. He really opened my eyes on hair products. He then suggested specific shampoo/conditioner products that would work with my thin hair. I highly recommend this salon and Adam who made my hair amazing! read more

Great little alternative salon. Everyone was very welcoming & nice. I originally came in to get my hair an ombré balayage. I was really excited to try something different, & more natural looking. I had tons of pictures of what I wanted. Unfortunately, I didn't get anywhere NEAR what I wanted. That being said- the highlights are a beautiful color.. Just not what I wanted. What I wound up getting was a head full of uneven highlights, tons of different tones, & my roots being a totally different color than the rest of my hair. I also asked for my extensions to be layered... They were butchered & uneven. To be fair, I believe she was just overwhelmed. Although while booking I said I wanted an all-cover color, ombré & balayage highlights, thinking that would be enough time, I brought in extensions to be cut which I had failed to mention while booking an appointment. Tina is the bomb! I've been coming here for about 6 months now, and she's even cut my daughter's hair into a sweet mohawk. I will go nowhere else. Somehow, by chance, I found Luxe De Vil Salon. I have never had a preferred salon or even stylist for that matter. Now, I am THAT girl who will only go to my stylist, Abigail. After getting a couple trims, that were extraordinary, I decided I really wanted Abigail to do my hair and makeup for my upcoming wedding. It started as simple as that, however, quickly turned in to a hair and makeup session for one bride, 3 bridesmaids, and two 5 year old flower girls. Abigail was professional and calm, and rolled with all the chaos that is involved with a whole bunch of women in one household getting ready for a wedding! Even more impressive, she gave me a look that I never would have imagined for myself. Weeks before, Abigail offered her professional opinion about what types of pins to get, etc. The day of, she was able to incorporate netting for a more "bridal" look. My hair and makeup looked very artsy, almost retro, perfect for the art gallery venue. The whole look stayed in place all night, actually, until morning...when I woke up married and with a headache, because I slept in all 20 + bobby pins...and decided wine would make for a better dinner. I've been enjoying the service at Luxe de Vil for 3 or 4 years now, and I cannot say enough about how much I appreciate this salon! When I first went I was embarrassed to have been using box black on my long hair for years, Tina M. turned my brittle, over processed hair into a perfectly healthy and beautiful masterpiece in no time at all and at a shockingly low cost considering the length of my hair. Pre-recession it was commonplace for me to drop $200 or more every time I set foot in the salons in Denver; those days are long gone and frankly I don't miss them a bit. (well, maybe I miss the abundance of $$....) nowadays I pay a fraction of what I used to for amazing service and fantastic products at Luxe de Vil. The prices are beyond fair, the staff are REAL, kind, and non-pretentious. Tina is my girl, but all of the people there are talented and creative, and I always witness beautiful results in every chair. I also had the pleasure of a facial and massage from Jenny (the owner) about a year ago- it was AMAZING! She made me feel great, she made great skincare recommendations that I'm still employing, and I would do this combo every month if I could. RANDOM: great art, parking is easy, they sell custom clothing, bags, jewelry, great magazine collection (monster mags yay!), carry all Dermologica products, if I had the ability to go white, green, purple, blue (or all of those together) this is the place I would go and not look like a gutter punk threw up on me. This review is for Nicole. She booked another appointment during my appointment time and then turned me away and refused to honor my scheduled appointment because she wouldn't be able to do my hair before the next appointment got there. I booked an appointment at 1:00pm for a "haircut and style with conditioning treatment" with Nicole and when you book this appointment it clearly states that it will be a 1 hour 30 minute appointment. Unfortunately I had a meeting run late right before the appointment so as soon as I got out of it I texted to let Nicole that I would be there in 5 minutes. When I showed up a couple of minutes late, there was a girl sitting at the front desk on the phone. When she finally hung up I told her I was there for my appointment with Nicole. Turns out this girl was Nicole and she told me she would not take me because her next appointment was coming in at 2:00 pm and "looking at how long and thick my hair" was she wouldn't be able to take care of me today and we would have to reschedule because she wouldn't be able to finish with me before her next appointment. I said I was confused why there was another appointment booked at 2:00pm when I was booked at 1:00pm and it clearly stated that my appointment was supposed to be 1 hour and 30 minutes, meaning it was scheduled from 1:00pm-2:30pm. She was unapologetic and said she had scheduled the other appointment herself. I said I still didn't understand how another appointment could have been scheduled during my appointment time and she said because "she can usually do it in an hour". So Nicole double booked and refused to accommodate me, when she was totally in the wrong for booking another appointment during my appointment time. If I had been a regular client of hers and she knew 100% that she could wash, condition, cut and style my hair in an hour it *might* have been acceptable for her to book another appointment just an hour after mine, even though it is supposed to be an hour and a half appointment. The fact is she did not know how "long or thick" my hair was and therefore she had absolutely no idea whether or not she would be able to do my hair in an hour, and yet she made the decision to cut my hour and a half appointment short by booking another appointment for someone else just an hour after mine. The worst part is she just did not care nor apologize for her error. It was a terrible error in judgement on her part and horrendous customer service, especially since it was her choice to schedule another appointment during my appointment time and she made absolutely no apologies about double booking and turning me away. Needless to say, there is no way I will be going back to get my hair done by Nicole. read more

It was the BEST decision I've made since moving to Denver. No lie. I had an appointment with Gabriella today and I'll be honest, this is the best haircut I have ever had in my entire life. Not only did she listen to my preferences, but she provided me with a variety of options that would best meet my needs and expectations. She was friendly and professional the entire time and not once did she push me to go outside of my comfort zone. "I went to this salon because I purchased a coupon and had been looking for a new place to get my hair cut. My first experience there was OK. The people were pretty standoffish and certainly weren't friendly. Maybe because I don't fit in with their hipster style? Don't know. However, the girl that did cut my hair did a good job. No chit chat, no smiles, but a decent cut. Because I could get a discount by going back and using the same stylist, I decided to give the place another whirl. Upon returning, I found out that they never entered my appointment into their system, thus no hair cut for me! I understand that this happens, and I wouldn't have been that bothered by it had the girl up front not been so rude about it. There wasn't even a breath of an apology, and she simply looked at me like it was my fault. Oh, but she did tell me I could wait around for an hour and a half (like I didn't have anything else to do), and she could maybe get me in. Needless to say, I didn't have time to sit and wait, and I didn't get a hair cut. Not a "good bye," not a "sorry about that," not a would "you like to reschedule." I have avoided hair salons for a few years(3 yrs which is a long time).....until I went to Luxe De Vil Salon. I had Nicole cut my hair and she did such a phenomenal job! After I left the salon and went to the store to run errands I had three girls compliment my hair and ask where I had it done. I love Nicole, she listened to me and she immediately knew I was so attached to my long tresses, that she only took off a few inches. She did the technique of dry hair cutting for the purposes of my hair type(that's talent!), layered it and left some long sections and blended it all together. She then showed me all the different ways in which I can style my hair. Nicole was so gentle and never pulled on my hair, I think its because she is also a makeup artist and she takes her time being very precise and gentle. I left the salon with sexbomb cat hair! I am so so happy. The salon has a rocknroll atmosphere: leopard/vinyl hair chairs, black Victorian stylist dressers, and quirky cute art everywhere.
