I did a walk in after looking for another nail salon to take off an old gel and do a new gel mani for an upcoming wedding. Everything started out fine until it came to the cuticle cutting... I will preface that I have bled before in other nail salons but not as bad as this experience... the lady who worked on my nails cut too much off on my right pinky and my left ring finger. Hydrogen peroxide was used to disinfect and I think she reached for nail glue(???) to put on the cut to stop the bleeding on my pinky. But the ring finger did not stop no matter what was done (hydrogen peroxide, wipe/compress, nail glue and repeat). I eventually asked to go to the bathroom to try washing my ring finger with cold water and soap but the bleeding kept coming. After that she tried the same method again but without the nail glue. For a moment it looked like the bleeding was lessening and then proceeded to resume service on my nails and had me insert my hand into the uv lamp dome. To our horror, when I took my hand out, the bleeding had continued and was all over my ring finger. By this point, as calmly and nicely as I could, I asked to discontinue the service and pay for what had been done up to the point of the cuticle incident. She declined several times and said no payment was necessary and apologized. I asked for a bandaid but she didn't have any. She took neosporin and put it on the cut on my ring finger, placed a piece of cotton ball on it and then used clear tape to secure it on my finger. The lady was sweet and apologetic which I appreciate. But with such a horrible and painful experience, I sadly won't be coming back :( read more

Due to the positive Yelp reviews, I decided to give this salon a try. This is very conveniently located in Downtown Fullerton and I'm pleased to say it's very clean! This salon is small and only has 2-3 gals working total, so I imagine it can be a long wait during rush hour or weekends. Vanessa is the only one who can do nails so you might want to request an appointment ahead of time. I called only a couple hours in advance asking if they could do a fill w/ gel and a pedicure in under an hour, and they assured me no problem. I will say that I walked in as she was finishing up another girl's acrylics and they looked great; however, she didn't actually start on my nails after 20 min being there. I wasn't sure if she could finish in 40 min but she did! She was definitely rushed and worried but none the less my nails still came out looking great to hold me over until my next appointment. I probably wouldn't get another pedicure here, only because it felt rushed and the other woman was very rough/kind of hurt me while filing my toenails...bummer. Regardless, at least I have a backup I can come to in a pinch if I can't make it to my usual place. Prices are reasonable (About $38 for my nails and $20 for toes) and it's clean. The only reason I'd come back here is for Vanessa's meticulous attention to detail on my nails & her fast work ethic! read more

1 star because they took my walk-in at 6:20 even when they close at 7. 2 star because the final look came out good, and there are no bubbles in my gel polish HOWEVER... minus 3 stars for the following reasons: 1.) They took me in while they had only two people working, both of which were working on one person. Rather than deny me, one of the workers comes and sticks my acrylics on, files them a bit, and then leaves me for 40 minutes to finish with the other girl who was getting a mani and pedi. So she clearly just started on me so that she could get my business and that I wouldn't leave if I had been sitting on the waiting chairs. 2.) She was so ROUGH. Clearly she was in a hurry because it's already 7, which is when they close so she's just trying to get out of there, but DO NOT PUT THE ELECTRIC FILE ON HIGH AND BURN THE SURFACE OF MY NAILS. And she had the audacity to say that it was because I'm moving, but I told her that I only moved because she won't stop burning me, which gave her the "bright idea" to put the machine on a lower setting. 3.) She couldn't file even if her life depended on it, which sucks because this is clearly her livelihood. She would file my fingers slanted and when I asked her to fix the slant, she didn't see then problem and I had to literally make a slanted gesture to indicate that it wasn't flat at the top of my coffin nails. This was for 5/10 nails that I had to have her fix. 4.) She glued on one of the acrylics crooked so no matter how many times I asked her to take it off and do a new one, she wouldn't listen and kept insisting that she file it until it evens out on both side. At one point she takes some acrylic powder to try and build one side up so that it looks more even, which obviously did not work and she just wasted a bunch of both of our times. Finally she asks if she should take the acrylic off and do it over and I was like YES PLEASETHATSWHATIVEBEENSAYINGOK! 5.) She tries to do what benefits her and not the customer. She didn't want to cut my nails shorter even if they grew out so much from my last salon session (I came in for a fill and to fix a few broken nails) probably because it was more filing work for her. And when I finally persuade her to cut them shorter, she clips off the TINIEST sliver off the top which makes me just laugh because of how ridiculous everything is. I tell her to cut more and even out the lengths because my fingers were all different lengths. And clearly from all the 1,2,3 4 reasons stated above she tries to cut corners and do a half-ass job. Overall, I had to micromanage her the for entire time so that I don't end up paying for a service that I will not appreciate. On top of that, I had to tell her how to do her job constantly because she kept insisting her crap job was good enough. When I go to Cerritos Nail and Spa (which I recommend everyone to check out) I can just chill and relax which is what I normally do when I get my nails done, so this was such a bad experience for me. Mainly it was the service that threw me off, but ATLEAST she eventually did the things I asked her to do and make my nails look decent PSA: ladies do not be those people who post reviews/pictures of your crappy nails and say "look at what I just paid for... 1 star, I would do 0 stars if I could..." You have every right to have them fix your nails as many times as need be to get what YOU want because YOU are paying for that service. It is a hassle and sometimes you feel bad because you shared your life stories with your nail technician, but they are paid professional who need to do their job right without ripping their customers off. At first, I was very hesitant to come into this place, but I decided to make an appointment anyway. The place was clean, quiet and intimate, so you definitely walk out feeling relaxed. The prices are reasonable and they try to accommodate for what the customer asks for. I am very picky about the way my nails get cleaned along with the way they're shaped because it affects the overall image of the nails. I love neutrals & coffin shape - so I asked for that specifically. Even if I ask for a random color that they don't have, Van takes the time to get something very close to what I asked for. I decided to go back after a great experience the first time. I had a different lady this time and showed her a pic of what I wanted. She said she can do it, including the rhinestones. I already had acrylics on with a light pink base (I also got French tip the first time) so she removed the edges for a refill. I could tell the base colors were off and she reassured me that she can fix it after filing everything down. Nope. I have 2 different base colors as you can see in the pic. When I asked her to fix them, she told me she couldn't and said to look at my hands from far away LOL speechless. Then, she told me she was finished without putting on the rhinestones. When I asked, she got upset and said she didn't have them. I said "you told me you have them earlier." And magically, these rhinestones appeared. When we were finished, I unfortunately did not have enough time to get the bubbles on my nails fixed (she did offer to fix them). I'm usually not one to write yelp reviews to complain but I just feel really bummed about my experience here. I originally found them on yelp and I wanted to get my nails done with Vanessa. I called the salon and Vanessa said she could take me in right away if I was going to be 15 minutes or less and she assured me she could do them. I arrive at the salon in under 15 minutes and Vanessa says that Bella was going to do my nails. Already that bothered me because I had driven there under the impression that Vanessa was going to do my nails. Anyway, I let Bella do my nails because at this point I'm already there and I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. She soaks my hands in water and proceeds to cut my cuticles with no cuticle remover just water alone. Mind you, I have had my nails done hundreds of times before and I am a California State Board Licensed Cosmetologist myself so I know that you're always supposed to use cuticle remover even with a standard gel polish manicure, it's state board procedure. At this point I'm feeling a little irked but I'm trying not to be too critical, and proceed to have a conversation with her. The polish selected was a soft white color and a little bit of a sheer formula. Long story short she put on four coats to cover my nail and by the time she was done it looked so thick, like I had acrylics on. I told her I was not happy with it and I really wasn't rude or mean, I told her it was probably the polish formula because it was sheer, and the girl gave me the silent treatment the rest of the time. Vanessa eventually caught wind and ended up fixing it, but after she finished she just rubbed lotion on my hand and barely did a massage. No cuticle oil or anything to finish off the service. Finally, It was time to pay and I saw the bill for $28!! I'm sorry but for not doing a thorough job, $28 is a little expensive. I proceeded to pay and even tipped them. I tried to leave happy and told Vanessa I wasn't mad at her but honestly after thinking things over, I won't come back again. :'( read more

Got my nails done here two Wednesday's ago with my friend. Fullerton is a halfway point for us to meet up and we get our car washed down the street and this place had seemingly great reviews. I personally called to make an appointment and they accepted us. This was the worst nail experience I've ever had. I was in the salon for 2.5 hours and I left my friend behind since I had to leave for work. She was there for 3.5 hours. There was only one other guest! Both our toe nails came out crooked. The paint job was not even or smooth, in addition to, my nail is already chipped. And also, I've never had a technician ask me to close my eyes while removing my previous gel polish. I usually love getting my nails done but this was awful. Also the color choice did not come out the way I selected but I didn't want to ask to change it since I was already behind schedule and needed to leave. Literally so awful, my bare nails look better. read more

Ok. So I've been going to Luxe for a few years now and I'm so mad at myself for not having written a review yet!! Vanessa is wonderful. She always works so hard and efficiently to squeeze customers in WITHOUT compromising quality work (as I have never had a bad experience). Most impressively, Vanessa always gives her customers EXACTLY what they want. I always come in wanting something very specific and borderline strange and she will always find a way to make it happen. I even once heard one of her customers asking her to paint a tiny man getting abducted from a 3D spaceship (that she sculpted herself) on their pinky nail. And it looked awesome!! The other gals in the shop are awesome too, however I've had Vanessa every time I'm gotten a manicure and I don't plan on going to anyone else. read more

HORRIBLE JUST HORRIBLE!!! I've never written a yelp review before but after my experience at this sad excuse for a salon i felt the need to inform and write one. I came in last Monday for a Brazilian, now I've been to many salons and waxing studios before so i know the drill, i know what to do and how to get into the correct positions to be properly waxed. The lady doing my wax(an older Asian woman for reference) had me lay flat with my legs basically closed, which to me seemed strange, when i asked her if she wanted me to reposition myself in a butterfly position so she could wax easily and not miss anything which i asked her multiple times throughout the process, she said No that the position i was in was perfect, she then went to trim the hair which sure if it helps you wax why not i didn't mind (although it's never been needed or done at any actual waxing studios,even after full growth) she talks about how much growth and how long it must've been since I've gotten a Brazilian for around 5 minutes she keeps going, she continues on and starts waxing the very top, at this point she's not doing a very good job and she's not pulling the strip off in a clean one pull motion, it's taking her about 3 tries to pull off one strip. She's not even half way done and my skin is so irritated and and red that it feels like she's waxing raw skin, i told her i needed a brake, which I've never had to do any of the countless times I've gotten a Brazilian, so she decides to do some of the labia area still with my legs mostly closed mind you, she waxes all the way back even though I'm still laying flat and i ask if she was able to remove all the hair with me in that position, she said yes and reassured me she got it all cleaned up, she goes back to focus on the top and gets the rest of it off and goes it with some tweezers to clean up or so i thought. She ends up giving me noesporin at the end because she's made my skin so irritated and raw, I've never been in so much pain after a Brazilian, at this point my mind is on getting my clothes on, paying and getting the hell out of there. Later that night after allowing my skin to heal/relax a bit i go in to make sure there's no single hairs that got left behind as there sometimes is which is understandable when it's only a very few, this lady had left a strip of hair she never even waxed, the back area was partially waxed and she didn't even go all the way back, it was over all patchy at best and just plain horrible, i will never return to this salon and people should avoid this place at all costs. read more

After reading all of the raving reviews about Vanessa, I decided to make an appointment with her. I'm extremely picky about how I like my gel manicure and it seemed like all of her clients were happy with her work. I had my appointment on a Saturday at 6pm, walked in 10 minutes early and Vanessa started on my manicure right away. They have a large selection of colors to choose from. I went with my usually baby pink color. She shaped my nails round just how I like them and she was really good at removing all of my cuticles. I've been to places that do a lousy job removing the cuticles but her job was pristine! When she actually got to painting my nails I was a little skeptical because she was doing it fast and kind of messy BUT be patient... she cleans them up SO WELL! I was so impressed. My manicure turned out perfect! I'm so happy with my nails, I literally can't stop staring at them. So before I left, Vanessa gave me her phone number and asked me to contact her if I have any issues with my nails. She also said I can contact her through text to make an appointment.
