I'm quite picky when it comes to my hair cut & ESPECIALLY my coloring. I've told some other stylists in the past about the coloring I would have liked to achieve but no one could ever get it right until Christine. She is the ONLY hair stylist that does my hair & knows exactly what I want even though sometimes I'm not very good at explaining it. :P She has been doing my hair for a few years now and she always gets my color and cut exactly how I like it. Vanessa has been doing my hair for almost 4 years and I won't go to anyone else ever again. I've been coming to Luxe for over a year and realized I needed to write my review. I have curly/wavy hair, and have always been afraid of trying new stylists (one awkward triangle cut was enough to scar me for life). My hair is a big part of me and it makes me nervous. I did a ton of online research and found Christina at Luxe and the Deva cut system. I was nervous my first time, but walked out ecstatic and have come back ever since. Christina is AMAZING. The Deva cut is exactly what I've been looking for. It shapes my hair nicely and the haircuts always grow out really well. It's always bouncy, sexy and fun. I get TONS of compliments and feel like it gives my hair new life, giving me confidence. Plus, she always mentions that if something looks off, I can stop by and she'll correct it. Fortunately, I've never had to. She's fun and friendly and there's just the right amount of stylist small talk :) The salon is easy to find, with good street parking (and a small lot in the back). The space is open and breezy, with cool style. They always have coffee, water, and a decent selection of magazines to read while you dye or dry. Originally I had an appointment with the owner, Christine, but she was still with her prior client, so Ashley (I think that's her name?) at reception took the initiative to ask me if it was okay if she did my hair instead; I appreciated that! I am SO happy with Luxe Parlour. I'm not from the LA area so I was extremely nervous about finding a salon that I trusted with my hair. I never really get my hair done but I think my experience at Luxe Parlour has changed that! First, the staff are extremely professional and talented. I had an appointment with Christine. The morning of my appointment Christine told me that she had the flu and wouldn't be able to do my hair. She could not have been more apologetic about it. Even though she was very sick, she went out of her way to get me an appointment that day with another stylist (Vanessa) because I could not come in the following week. Second, the stylists are truly talented at what they do. I told Vanessa I wanted a balayage that went well with my natural hair color and wasn't too blonde. I also wanted it to gradually get lighter towards the bottom of my hair. She more than delivered! She even added a bright blonde streak to the front of my hair that I've gotten so many compliments on. She blow-dried my hair into loose curls that I wish I could do everyday to myself! I was unhappy with my hair for a long time (grew out my hair really long and faded balayage) and finally decided to change it. Ladies, we find ourself spending lots of money on our hair throughout our lives. I want to say, my experience today with the owner of Luxe Parlor, Christine George, was exceptional. I was there for 5 hours. Not once did I want to leave, feel anxious or want out of there. The atmosphere was calm. The professionalism and the honest humanity Christine showed me was pretty spectacular. It was a real treat to go and have her do my hair today. She also did not promise me she could 'fix' my hair. She took it one step at a time and decided after each step what she would do and nothing but perfection happened. So, when you spend hundreds of dollars on your hair, think twice about where you go and maybe try calling Christine. Her assistant Mitci was gentle and slow and kind. And the rest of the staff just had a nice respectable way of showing kindness and care. The other stylists were gorgeous and everyone had model perfect hair. I can't express myself enough. I went in with blue green gray hair from blonde after a bad experience. Christine did not just say, oh I can fix that. She noticed me when I walked in on time. She immediately came and sat down with me. She asked to see photos of my hair prior to the blue and took the time to tell me she has no idea what my hair will do, so she will first try to remove the blue/green color and then take it one thing at a time. I did not feel like I didn't belong because it was a fancy salon. Christine is a hard worker for her salon and she shows it. She is polite and funny and shared her life with me. I honestly learned a thing or two about humanity and dog rescue and just overall kindness in our world. Christine changed my life. I left a better person. She did more than fix my hair, in a way she fixed my heart. She had no idea who I am and what I have been through this past year, and I didn't have to share it. She simple poured her love and experience and welcomed with me open arms and really good coffee. She deserves even more said about her and her salon. Color correction is expensive we all know it and we all pay it. But getting treated like you are a human is rare. Saw girls with curly hair like mine on their instagram, thought I'd get my hair cut the way they were getting it - Deva Cut. I walked out of there with a lopsided haircut that looks like someone snatched a fistful of hair off one side. I saw it before I left, and mentioned it, and she basically trimmed one piece and sculpted my hair to hide the hole. I figured it was just not sitting right because of the unusual product. Tried to let it settle for several days, tried different products, realized it was not getting better and freaking panicked because my hair is key for getting work. When I went back to figure out what to do with it, they made no direct acknowledgment that this was a huge problem, no apologies, no reassurances, and gave me several reasons why it *seemed* shorter while shifting blame away from themselves (maybe my hair shrank during treatment, maybe I use the wrong product, etc). This made me even more angry. I was also told that I should have known that a Deva Cut involved an entire line of products and basically a lifestyle change to maintain, even though I had told each of them I knew nothing about Deva Cuts, and this was my first time. Apparently I had done something wrong by using my usual products at home, and that was supposed to have contributed to the lopsidedness of my haircut. Despite it being lopsided when I left the first time. After they talked about cutting my hair even more, then spent some time fluffing my hair in the problem area and spraying on more product, And talked about doing ANOTHER treatment that would maybe shrink my hair, I gave up and walked out. It was clear I was just getting the run around because they couldn't fix a huge gap in my hair, so what was the point in wasting time, having them with their hands on me, achieving nothing? If you know the hair texture is going to change *after* you put a Deva treatment on the hair, why not cut it after you do the treatment? If having a Deva Cut requires a lifestyle change, let people know that beforehand. Educate your new clients, and maybe show them the product. I got none of that at all. I would have not done the cut and saved us ALL this trouble, and me a year of not being able to wear my hair down. More than anything, if you completely screw up someone's hair, apologize! You've changed their daily life for the worse, it's the least you can do. read more

I just moved to the city, and I am already in love with Luxe Parlour. I'm really indecisive and very rarely trust other hair stylists, but Ryan was excellent. He took his time to make sure that I was comfortable with the style I chose. He didn't rush my decision like many of the other hair stylists I have had in the past at other salons. What's more, he was professional, and I did not have to wait several minutes for my appointment- he was very punctual! Lastly, I appreciated how helpful he was when I asked him to recommend products for straight but slightly wavy hair. I told him that I wanted a low maintenance regiment, and he knew exactly which products to recommend without me having to spend hundreds of dollars. From the moment I called Luxe to set up a consultation I knew this was the place to go. I went to 3 other salons before here and nothing compares to the friendliness of the entire staff. I always manage to get awkward while having services done but Christine really makes you feel welcome. No uncomfortable forced conversation here. I came in with a bad cut and color, showed Christine my pinterest inspiration photo and she made it happen. She flat out told me before we started, your hair will not look exactly like the photo and it may take a couple visits. (Unlike the other salon I went to in which the owner told me, oh you can't get that color it's just lighting) She was right, it doesn't look EXACTLY like the photo but who cares!? It looks great! She took my golden orange hair and turned it beautiful blonde with low lights just slightly lighter than my roots so it all blends beautifully and will grow out much more natural. When she did my cut she was so meticulous to every detail. I have really thick hair and she managed to get rid of the bulk without changing the length at all. My hair is also EXTREMELY soft now, way better than before I came in even though I had a full highlight done. You can tell by observing her interact with not only her clients but the other stylist that she truly cares about her business and wants everyone to leave happy. She pays attention to every little detail. As for the vibe of LUXE, it's great. Laid back yet still posh and stylish. Large open space with lots of character makes you feel at ease and welcome. Awesome playlist too. I won't go on and on about how amazing this salon is or how everyone works so hard to keep their customers happy, I'll just say Iv'e definitely found my new salon and I'll be recommending them to everyone who tells me my hair looks great. (The compliment count is already up to 7 in 2 days!) The pricing was also good, they won't rip you off or mysteriously add extra fees that just happen to pop up at the register like some other salons Iv'e been to. You get every pennys worth of what you pay for here. Update: I only have 1 complaint. My lowlights faded a little in the front, I called twice and left messages, never got a callback. Christine told me she wanted to check the color after a few washes but it never happened. :( I'm still happy with my color but it's definitely not as vibrant as it was when I left the salon. Nicki is officially my go-to hair guru back at home! I am in Los Angeles visiting my family over summer break, and decided I needed to get my hair under control before heading back to San Fran.
