There's a light you cannot turn off, and the heating/cooling system is on every balcony so even if you turn tryouts off you hear everyone else's. You might as well have no balcony. But it's still worth the visit. Such a great hotel but the balcony's are awful. And no privacy, can see the people above you and below you. It's honestly just for show. Other than that I'd stay again and not get a balcony room. I think it's to deter smoking but it's not even cozy, it's sharp, and not private. Great view but there was a wedding so saw everyone on the balconies and can hear and see everyone, they need to be designed to be functional not for show.

We wanted to sit in the lobby, but there was trash at the fireplace. The lobby was unclean ie the couch, table, fireplace area. There was no coffee or cream in our room. It took 40 minutes for them to come up. They brought cream and sugar and no coffee. We called the front desk twice to rectify this issue. There was a phone in the room that did not work and no phone cord, which is a huge safety issue. There was yelling and slamming doors at 6am outside of our room in the hallway. There was also no body soap in the shower, when we showered this morning. We will not be returning, as this was another disappointing stay.

The outdoor patio is really nice too. + My top reason - so good for kids. Kid's menu portions are large and prices are fair. My kids are always happy with the food here. We recently came in on a Sunday which is kids eat free day, and they also have a balloon artist which is cute. + A full bar with lots of TVs and an upstairs comedy club. Overall this is a wonderful spot to have in the neighborhood, and we're regulars and huge fans.

Since then, we've worked with Michael on planning our wedding and he was so great to work with. He was easy to communicate with, super energetic and full of positive energy throughout the planning, and very informative. We wanted our dogs in the ceremony a lower guest minimum for fear that less people at the time would attend due to covid and Michael quickly accommodated our requests, no questions asked! Our wedding was 10/14/23 and Farrell was our maitre'd. After getting home, my matron of honor, brother in law and mom had nothing but AMAZING things to say about Farrell. According to my mom, Farrell saw my grandpa had trouble with his boutonniere and she, without us asking, started helping him and all the other groomsmen clip them on. She worked with my husband on getting a little last-minute seating mishap resolved (we had some unplanned guests who had initially rsvp'd no and showed up). She was so good with children as our flower girl and flower boy/ring bearer were 4 and 7 and she interacted with them and helped show them what to do at the ceremony. Our day of coordinator unfortunately had an emergency and was not there part of the wedding but Farrell really took over and checked in on us constantly and took charge of the day. My matron of honor said Farrell was so nice and reliable and amazing at her job. Going back to the wedding, our guests couldn't stop talking about how gorgeous the venue was, down to the chandeliers in the ballroom. Our wedding was unfortunately outdoors but Birchwood was so accommodating with allowing us to use the Grand Ballroom for the ceremony as the reception was already set up elsewhere. We upgraded the cocktail hour to deluxe and with both my husband and I being from Chinese families with high expectations in regards to seafood, the lobster tails were gone instantly as our guests loved them so much. People raved about how good the cocktail hour was, including the carving station and shrimp scampi station. The ice sculpture was a beautiful and elegant touch. All in all, we and our guests had nothing but an amazing time at Birchwood. We have nothing but positive experiences through our 2 years of wedding planning. The "champagne" that's provided throughout the night is only 5%, but I've had several other mixed drinks throughout the night and never once felt any sort of buzz. Upon reflection, the amount I drank I should've really been at minimum very tipsy. My husband felt the same. No one at the party seemed visibility drunk and yet everyone had a drink in their hand most of the night. Not that we go to weddings to get hammered, but the family is paying for open bar and this would mean they're getting ripped off, yes? The dance floor was also a bit lackluster and some liquid courage would've helped I'm sure. I guess just keep this in mind when looking at this place for your venue!

I was here for a training class that involved the use of several automobiles. The main hanger is large enough to accommodate many many more than were actually in use. I can see how this might be a good spot for beer or wine events, or even craft or other vendor driven gatherings. I even liked seeing the military displays and notices. Our class was not large and unfortunately this large space needed even larger heating units to warm it up, noisy ones at that. It was a balancing act to run them just enough to keep from being chilly but still be able to hear the speakers. My biggest criticism would be the men's bathroom conditions. As the other reviewer noted, they are not suitable for large crowds without additional port a potties. Since our crowd was not large this was not an issue, but cleanliness certainly was. For some reason all of the urinals were removed. No matter, plenty of stalls. But these were in desperate need of a power washing, or better yet maybe a sandblasting. This may be the first time I've used this word in a review, but the condition was deplorable. Now that I think about it, maybe this space is not used in its former military purpose. I sure hope not, our troops deserve better, even if only part time.

He spoke to us disrespectfully throughout the entire event, used inappropriate language, and treated our family with complete disrespect. What should have been a beautiful and unforgettable day for our little cousin's quinceañera turned into a nightmare because of the way we were treated. We are a Hispanic family, and sadly, we felt we were treated differently. Even our 15-year-old cousin, on one of the most special days of her life, was yelled at by the manager. No young girl should ever have to experience that on her quinceañera. The venue itself is nice, but customer service is just as important. Because of the way we were treated, I cannot recommend this place. I sincerely hope they improve the way they treat their guests so that no other family has to go through what we experienced.
