This place is pretty great. Don't let the bad reviews steer you away. I was skeptical too at first because there were a lot of mixed reviews but my experience was a good one. This is located in the Fountainsquare area and the place looks pretty new and modern. I needed my nails filled and a pedi done and I was satisfied with how they looked after. I wish I remembered the name of my nail tech as I got 2 different people that did my pedi and mani. Both were fast and efficient and did a great job. Forgot to take a pic the day my nails were done, so the pic featured in this review is over 2 weeks old and still holding on strong. Real time happening as I sit in this shop - bec I'm not going to leave without the service at this point.... Today my daughter (7) and I came out for nail treatment. I am to get a fill-in and a pedicure and she is getting both a no chip mani and pedi. We were walk-ins and didn't have appointments. I've been here now every other week for the past 3 months or so - never made an appointment and never had longer than a 15 min wait. Let me also add as a walk-in I expect some kind of wait. As a customer I always ask how long do you estimate the wait. Today I was told 45 mins and I was agreeable. I checked in and ask if they had a way of notifying me when the wait was up and I was told by the young woman at the desk that she would call me. (Because if they didn't I would have been prepared to check-in every 15 mins or so as the shop is in a plaza beside a Marshalls and across from a Walmart - I could definitely burn the time with my daughter and not have to sit and wait). She then told me that the wait was more likely only 30 mins. Fast forward almost 55 mins I had not heard anything and so I called to checkin ...it was at that time I was told they couldn't call me back because the phone system was down and they couldn't retrieve the number. She then added it would be another 30-40 mins wait. Now this is where my patience started to thin.... You told me 45 mins at the beginning, changed it to 30 mins when I checked in but after 55 min now adding additional 30-45 mins???? I told her I felt this was a little absurd considering she told me it would be less time and that she would call me and now I'm calling her and getting more time. I go inside to wait as my suspicions is that they have actually just forgotten about me and have accepted others (bec also btw my girl who is amazing suddenly was available after me and the manger were squabbling a bit) As I asked for the manager who is named Kim, she immediately comes in "hot" saying that bec I didn't have an appointment they don't owe me anything more than an estimation of time for service. I attempted to explain that I understand it was an estimate but it went from 30 mins to 1hr 30 and she goes it could be even longer - you're a walk-in and we don't owe you a specific time as a walk-in and we don't call bec it's not our policy. If you had an appt we would call you. So I then asked if this was a matter of me being a walk-in or poor expectations set by her front desk employer? She then says well she was just trying to be nice to you - but we don't owe you updates. I argued they do bec that was the expectation set. The manager was completely condescending and rude about the entire exchange as if I was making stuff up. Expectations were set and not met. Had they just let me know it would be an 1.5hr ish wait from the beginning I would have been good but we ended up getting a 30 mins expectation as well a promise of callback and got neither. Then top it off with a manager who didn't care to be empathetic or just hear me out as a customer - her goal was to put me in my place as a "walk-in" I'm now weary of their "walk-ins" welcome sign - she left me feeling like my experience doesn't matter unless I make an appointment. Because Sam is SUPER amazing I will continue to come back here - while looking for an alternative as I can - Sam is amazing however and this is my first issue here but something tells me this can happen again! I also got French tips on my fingers, and they turned out sloppy: uneven lines and an overall rushed appearance. The worst part? The filing. It was rough and careless. The tech either didn't know what she was doing or was in a major hurry. She filed my nails way too short and thin, and was so aggressive she actually cut my finger. Today I decided would be my last day at this location. I requested a Luxy spa and fill in. I was charged $15 extra for services I was not made aware of prior to going to pay. $5 extra dollars for a fill in and requesting to have my nails shorter. So for the "cut down" the owner I'm assuming made the nail tech Oscar add $5. I made sure he was tipped well personally. For the use of the peel tool during my pedicure I was charged $10. I felt very nickled and dimed which is never ever a good feeling. I tried called but the line didn't work so I went in (on a Monday at noon) and they were readily available to service. I always get dip powder & the man did a great job. The store was clean & eye catching. They have an iPad to check in & a system to clearly tell the employee what color and service you are in for. Everyone seemed really friendly, there where many gel, polish and dip colors to choose from. The prices are reasonably priced and comparable to other places I have been. As my sister read the sign and was preparing to enter this business, she was greeted at the door by the owner who uttered these words, "no kids allowed this is not a daycare." My sister stood there in disbelief and complete shock...not only that...how do you explain to two year old that they are not welcome at this establishment even though two people were paying to be serviced? In terms of the employees-- some techs literally do the bare minimum and complain when you push back regarding service. They do allow kids if they getting their nails done which they do offer a kids price. You also can't bring in food. Drinks are acceptable. They do serve coffee and water. Highly recommend making an appointment because they get busy. They do a have a wide variety of color choices. I went in for a no chip mani and pedi with a milk & honey spa treatment. The pedi treatment felt was relaxing. Along with the massage chair you get a warmer for your neck. They also use hot towels. My manicurist took her time cleaning my nails. I went there on the 26 of February and didn't like the way they did my nail. She was rushing and didn't do that well of a manicure as well as kept on trying to convince me to get "no chip" nail polish after I repeatedly told her I wasn't fond of "no chip" because it leaves your nails really weak after you remove it. Today was a completely different experience. Mimi was great! She took her time and did an amazing job. I can tell she takes pride in her work. A lot of nail places just apply nail polish and expect you to be content with your "manicure". Mimi really did a good job, I showed her a picture of the dress I was going to be wearing and she even helped me pick a color. I'll definitely be coming back and asking for her. (4 stars cause they don't offer military discount and they're located 15 minutes from base). Seems to be a hit or miss when I go. I went to get my nails done and most of the time was me asking her to shake the nail polish before applying. The nail polish lasted 2 days before it started chipping because instead of shaking it she just continued to apply more layers. She rushed through the manicure and didn't do much. My nails were uneven to the point I had to file them myself when I got home. When I'd mention an issue her reply would be "you're the only one". None of the items used on my feet appeared to have been sterilized. They were in some dirty cheap plastic bin. The guy who did my feet tried to use this cheese grater thing on my foot.
