I live about half way between Buzzards Bay and New Bedford. My favorite pizza in the area comes from Brick in New Bedford. When I read about Luzia's, it sounded a lot like Brick, so I had to try it. Had the meatball appetizer. Good, but I would have preferred larger meatballs with more sauce. They use similar, good quality ingredients and cooking methods as Brick, but I think their oven temperature must be off (at least by my tastes). The tops of the crust had some char, which is expected for this style of cooking, but the bottom had no crispness, and was somewhat soggy. They serve beer and wine, which for me is a plus. I guess I'll stick with Brick for a better version of this style pizza. read more

I have been to this establishment 2 times now and it's been excellent both times!!! The pizza absolutely hits the spot perfectly! It's made right in front of you with high quality fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection! When we leave there absolutely satisfied we already craving our next visit which will be real soon! My wife and I made the 45-minute drive from RI to try Luzia's Pizza Napoletana in Buzzard's Bay, and wow, it was worth it! This was easily the best wood-fired pizza we've ever had. You can taste the freshness in every bite, the flavors were perfectly balanced, and the crust had that light, airy char that only comes from a true wood-fired oven. We started with the Insalata Di Pollo and shared the Polpettosa pizza (we couldn't pronounce the names, but we didn't need to, they were delicious). In fact, we loved it so much, we ordered another pizza to go! On top of the amazing food, the staff were super friendly and welcoming. You can tell they take pride in their food and service. If you're anywhere near the Cape, or even just passing through, make the detour! Luzia's is a hidden gem that's absolutely worth the trip. We're already planning our next visit! read more

Tried this place for the first time. Got 3 pizzas. Pepperoni, 4 Formaggi and margherita. Pizzas were good, maybe a bit "doughy" but good, and the margherita could have used a little more basil. All in all, pretty good. My overall rating would be higher, probably a 4 star, except for one thing. I ordered online through the website. They add a "Vendor Technology Fee" of $1.50 to the price. I thought technology was supposed to lower costs for everyone? I guess not. I find these fees annoying to the extreme. Probably a "me" thing. I recently went to an upscale restaurant that adds a 3% Credit Card fee. When I said I'd pay cash I was told I still had to pay the Credit Card fee! I haven't returned. Just raise your price to cover the cost of doing business. If your pizza is good enough people will pay the extra $1.50. read more

Pizza was pretty good. I had the margarita, it was a bit undercooked and a little too salty to my taste. But not bad. Disappointed in the "technology fee" for ordering online. Seems to me that online ordering is just as convenient for the establishment as it is for consumer. Were it me I would build the cost in meals. However I know nothing about owning a restaurant so I guess there is a reason they don't. I'll go back but I'll pay cash. I had always intended on trying this place when it was the previous business, but never got the chance. Was happy that someone else opened up with similar pizzas. I stopped by there today during lunch and had a margherita pizza. While they do not have the official designation of a certified Neapolitan pizzeria it is essentially the same. The bubbles on the crust had a slight black char in the rest of the pizza crust was cooked perfectly with just enough mozzarella. I am not a fan of a lot of basil on a margarita pizza in this one was just perfect with a single leaf in the middle. I ordered the pizza and ate it at the counter in the window Well this place is primarily takeout. They do have a small comfortable seating area and the pizza was served on a pizza plate as opposed to a box. The only reason I gave them four stars instead of five was that the pizza is on the expensive side however the quality was excellent . read more

Traveling back from Martha's Vineyard and stopped to get gas in Buzzard's Bay. Looked up local pizza places and Luzia's came up with good reviews. We ordered the primavera and funghi trifolati pizzas. Let me tell you, the reviews were right and the pizza didn't disappoint! Fresh ingredients and great chew on the dough. Probably the best veggies on a pizza we've had in a long time. Most places add unseasoned and uncooked veggies which totally diffuses the flavor of the pizza. Not here! Each one was roasted to perfection and popped with concentrated flavor. The funghi pizza had a mushroom crema dotting the pizza which was unique and very savory. We sat outside, watched the train bridge and took in the sunset lit sky. With a friendly owner too, you can't go wrong. Not sure when we'll be in the area again as we're from Philly, but when we are, we'll definitely hit up Luzia's. read more

We tried Luzia's for the first time yesterday. We ordered the Fenway pizza. (peppers, onions and sausage). There could not have been 1/2 of one sausage link on the pizza. For $19 there was absolutely no value. We were looking forward to fire roasted crispy dough. Instead we got chewy undercooked, not a glimmer of crispy dough. First of all, the world is a better place now that Luzia's Wood-Fired Pizza has opened in Buzzards Bay. We tried it yesterday for the first time by phoning in an order and picking it up ourselves. Our order was ready earlier than expected and it was help in a warmer to keep it toasty and delicious. The store is well designed and comfortable with lots of on street parking right out in front. The menu is extensive and everything we ordered was delicious. We started with the beef short ribs with gnocchi and they were spectacularly delicious, like eating in the North End of Boston. For pizza we ordered Luzia's Special, which was tremendous , followed by the 4 Cheese pizza which was scrumptious, made even tastier by the addition of a tiny bit of fresh rosemary which really made this pizza sing to me. Their 12 inch Pizzas are really cooked in a wood-fired oven which is scene operating in plain sight. Nice people run this place. If you eat in, the restaurant is comfortable and nicely styled. It's right across the street from the Bourne Railroad bridge over the canal. Extensive menu from appetisers, pizzas, entrees and desserts. Dining at Luzia's is like traveling to Naples for dinner without having to fly. Five big stars! Don't miss this place. It's great! read more

Just no. There is no other place to get pizza on Cape Cod other than Luzia's. Our pizzas were cooked perfect and fresh. The meat is thinly sliced and plenty of it! Pepperoni that cups and the Funghi Trifolati felt like I was it Italy. The Arancini was a good start and the sauce served with it was a hug from God. So so delicious.
