Mezzaluna recently held a bereavement luncheon for my family on the occasion of my husband's Tom's passing. We both had eaten there in the past and knew the food was excellent. The staff were terrific . A big shout out to Matt who was outstanding! Despite under estimating our numbers by 30 additional people, they couldn't be more accommodating. The buffet was fantastic and family and friends were able to share stories and the memories of Tom's life while enjoying a nice meal after a long day. After a terrible experience at another local spot I decided to come here hoping for a better experience. I was right and should've just came here. Service was impeccable. Both bartenders were attentive even with a full bar. Seeing how I've been craving stuffed shells. That was my choice. Came with bread, salad, and meat sauce over the shells. Bread was warm and tasty but definitely too much for one. Salad was just a simple tossed salad. The shells were delicious but the meat sauce lacked meat. Then again when I make it at home I load up my meat sauce with sausage, lamb, and beef. Overall service was spot on, food was good, ambiance was cozy and comforting. read more

It was close to our hotel so we walked to the restaurant. We were greeted by the hostess who told us it would be the best Italian food and she was right. Our waitress was also really nice and helpful. We saw how much food other customers had on their plates so we split the meatball appetizer which was amazing and lasagna for dinner that was so good. This is a great restaurant located right in Buzzards Bay on Cape Cod. A friend recommended this place to me so I gave it a try. They have excellent Italian food but you can also get seafood, steaks, soups, salads and more here. There is both a lunch and a dinner menu. I was there for lunch and had the Veal Parmigiana which came with a choice of pasta (I picked the ziti) and fresh bread was included with the meal as well. There were quite a few people dining there on the day that I went but there was absolutely no wait for a seat and we were waited on quickly. The dining room had comfortable seating. Disclaimer - This is a catering review. When I've eaten inside the restaurant, the food and service is usually 4 stars. This review is a BIG WARNING to AVOID CATERING. I spent over $500 with gratuity for holiday family dinner. Vegetable Lasagna Chicken Parm Chicken, Broccoli, ziti. The Lasagna was fine. The problem was the upselling of the chik parm, the CBZ, and sh*t service. I told the woman that I had 12 adults but 2 are elderly. I asked if 1 pan of chik park would be enough. She said that 1 pan feeds 8-10 and recommended 2 pans. SHE WAS WRONG! 1 pan had over 20 pieces of chicken parm. We had 9 left over pieces to go along with a full pan I didn't need. Not to mention a full pan of delicious lasagna. Good service would help me to save money by advising against the second pan. The chicken, broc, ziti was awful. The pasta was hard and the chicken was not correctly processed for this dish. It was a complete disaster! They did not slice or chop the chicken. They made 1 to 2 cuts per chicken breast. Great time Saturday night at Mezza Luna with my wife, her brother and his wife. They had their small wedding reception there 13 years ago at Mezza Luna. First off I enjoyed the atmosphere at the restaurant. Walked into the restaurant with a Frank Sinatra music playing. Hostesses were very pleasant and sat us immediately for our 5pm reservation. Chris our waiter was fantastic!! In terms of the food we all seemed to enjoy our meals plus our side salads. I liked the Italian Dressing on the salad. I had the Queen Cut Prime Rib & 2 Baked Stuffed Shrimp. Both were good. Not sure I would order it again, as I wasn't so impressed with the Stuffing. My wife had Fettuccine & Broccoli Alfredo which she enjoyed. She would order it again. My brother in law order the Regular Cut Prime Rib which he devoured. My sister in law had veggie lasagna. A big portion which she brought half home. We finished with Grapenut pudding which was probably the best I ever had. My brother & sister in law shared Lemoncello Cake which they really liked. We pop into this classic Italo-American restaurant a couple of times a year. The service is always prompt, knowledgeable and very helpful. I come from Providence and the ambiance of the place always reminds me of those great restaurants of RI in the 70's and 80's, like Twin Oaks and The Chateau. We met up with my hubby's sister and her husband and shared a plate of crispy eggplant fries with a nice zesty tomato sauce for dipping. Not usually hungry at 12 noon, when my in-laws wanted to meet us, I opted for another appetizer for my entée, mussels in a parmesan cream sauce. Both items were absolutely delicious, and with the basket of freshly (in-house) baked bread to 'inzuppare' it was plenty to eat. The food has gotten better in the last 2 years and the prices now seem in line with other restaurants in its class. Servive was 5*, and all the food seemed 4 to 5*. The parking lot was 100% full (Saturday , but there is plenty of legal street parking just in front of the restaurant. We had a reservation, and our table was ready when we got there. My only two complaints were about temperature. The A/C was blasting so hard (in July) that I had to go out to my car and get an undershirt and a long sleeve shirt. I do not think I could have enjoyed my dinner without the change in cloths. The other complaint was the wine temperature. I ordered a glass of Chianti. The wine tasted above average, but it was way too warm. I had to move ice from my water glass to the wine to get it to a drinkable temperature. Given that the room temp was freezing, they could at least serve the wine at room temperature. Salad was large and 4*, and the dressing (parm peppercorn) tasted much better than what I get at other restaurants. Our main focus in going to Mezza Luna was their Prime Rib which they only serve on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The small size is 22 oz! I'm a really big beef eater. Two years ago, the 22 oz was just right for me because a good percentage of the meat was fat which I cut off and did not eat. This time, there was very little fat compared to meat, and I had trouble finishing it (but I did). Most diners would not be able to finish this size portion, especially since it comes with bread, a soup/salad plus two sides. It would be nice if it came in a smaller size. Unlike most restaurants, when you order Prime Rib medium rare, it actually comes out medium rare. I've had better Prime Rib in my life, but this is definitely the best on the South Coast. Sound level in the restaurant was low, so we were able to carry on conversations without having to shout. Sometime, I'll have to come back here when they are not serving Prime Rib so I can try some of their Italian specialties. read more

After a funeral at national cemetery we were looking for an Italian restaurant to share a family dinner and this place popped up. A party of ten and only a few people enjoyed their food. Multiple people complained of the food being too salty. My seafood platter plate had a huge puddle of grease yet was so light I thought it was uncooked. It also had no flavor other than ironically salt. The chicken parm tasted like bread with sauce and cheese. The mozzarella sticks were super market frozen food at best. We went for Mother's Day dinner. I was so excited to try this place and ate very little all day so I could eat a nice big Italian meal. My husband ordered the shrimp scampi and he thought it was good but the chunks of garlic was to much. My daughter ordered chicken picatta. It looked good but the sauce was like paste and there wasn't much flavor. I was looking forward to the eggplant parmesean all day and was so disappointed that the red sauce was bland and extremely bitter. The eggplant parm on top was complete mush and I was not able to get through 3 bites. What a disappointment after waiting all day. I just had the best meal of my entire life. (I'm 42 so I've eaten some meals) My mom and I came for dinner. We ordered the calamari appetizer. My mom was skeptical but we ordered it anyway and we're both blown away. Super light breading, peppers on top were spicy but in the best way, and the marinara dip...I'd bathe in. For our meal my Mom ordered the meat ravioli special and holy hell. Portion size, huge. Flavor, massive! I ordered the chicken Francais for my meal and when I tell you my eyes rolled out of the back of my head, through the bar and out the door from sheer food pleasure I'd be under selling it. Chicken, unbelievably tender. Sauce, bury me with it. Seriously put it in my casket. For dessert, my Mom ordered the cannoli and well, you just can't go wrong there. But I ordered the crème brûlée. Now both mine and my moms eyes have rolled out our heads, down the hall and out the door. I would literally lick that off the floor. Crème brûlée is my favorite dessert and this one was hands down the best I've ever had. This entire meal was worth completely screwing up my diet for. BRAVO! read more

I have never left a review of a food establishment, good or restaurant. My family was in town on Saturday the 19th of July and we were looking for a nice dinner to sit down and relax. There were 3 of us and every meal was a disappointment. From the Arancini app to the main meal it was almost inedible. To start the arancini had bits of sausage in them. That would be fine if the texture was ok. Very rubbery and fatty chunks were throughout each ball. Really disgusting. My salad came and it was very basic and the dressing was tasteless and the ingredients were not fresh for a place that supposedly prides itself on quality. The main event for me was my center cut, bone in porkcbop. I always have a bard time ordering pork chops but I figured this was the night to do it. They had an entire Steak and Chops section!!! My wife ordered the eggplant, Caprese Salad. My daughter ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. Presentation was ok on my daughter's, and Wife's meals but the pork chops were literally, pork chops on a plate with some jarred, apple sauce on the side. They were dry and tough to say the least. I did not send them back. I hate doing that. My mistake that I ordered them at an Italian restaurant but still no excuse for such a lack of care that went into this meal. No sauce, garnish, of any kind. The spaghetti and meatballs were sub par and the salad was greasy and flavorless. I have no idea how this place is still in business after 82 years!! I'm sure it was something to be reckoned with but now it has lost its way. It's unfortunately a money grab for the owners and they end up hurting us tourists as a result. Never again. read more

It was Mother's Day and it was busy. We had 1:30 reservations and we were seated at 1:15. Our waitress was excellent! She got our order for drinks and eggplant fries along with bread and our drinks. My boyfriend & I come here once a month. We love Mezza. The food is exceptional with huge portions (leftovers easily make 2-3 more meals). The waitstaff are always friendly, attentive and responsive. Great ambience, and large seating areas. Clean restaurant & restrooms too. Great location, lots of parking too. Make a reservation on the weekends though because it fills up fast. Highly recommend Mezza Luna to all, families too. Consistently a 10, and comparable to the North End. Start with some fresh Italian bread and a salad...great place! read more
