Really good breakfast sandwiches, relatively fast service despite the long line to wait on.

My daughter's favorite place! Can get busy due to one person manning the grill but that's what makes it special!

The service was horrible. The woman behind the counter was extremely rude to all the customers. I wouldn't recommend.

We were heading into Wolfeboro on a recent Sunday, thinking either The Bay Diner or Katies, and…read morehoping not to have to wait for a table (it was around zero outside). Yelp showed The Sand Trap as a breakfast option right before we drove by the Kingswood Golf Club, and I mentioned to my wife that I'd heard of their restaurant serving dinner but not breakfast. We called the number and they confirmed they were "open right now, for breakfast," and gave us directions (turn on to Kingswood Rd, and they're .1 miles down on the left). There were only two cars in the small lot, and the adjacent L-Shaped white building didn't say "Sand Trap," but a sign did say "Restaurant," so we thought it must be the place. Entering from the back, there was only one other party there, sitting at a high top in the bar area, and we were quickly greeted and told to sit anywhere. We chose a table up against a soft couch/bench and settled in to read the menu. Despite the bitterly cold weather outside, the inside was very comfortable (warm), and the menu was interesting. In addition to the usual breakfast offerings (e.g., omelets, eggs, pancakes) they offered Benedicts as usual (2 poached eggs) as well as a junior version (one poached egg). Benedicts can be filling (hollandaise IS butter and yolk) so I opted for a junior version of the "Kingswood:" Bacon, Avocado and Tomato, while my wife ordered a Cheese, Onion and Spinach omelet. The food arrived quickly, and after a couple bites she declared that her omelet was AMAZING. It was very fluffy ("how do they DO that"), with just enough melted American cheese and fresh wilted spinach. She even said it was "better than Wade's," our never-before-topped gold standard from a diner in Oswego, NY. that makes incredible cheese omelets. Me, disbelieving: "Really? Wife: "Yes, really." That's high praise. My Benedict was equally good. Halfway through I realized there was no toasted English Muffin (menu had hinted at that), but the fresh Avocado - a generous amount -, crisp bacon, tomato and perfectly poached egg dripping with Hollandaise more than made up for that. All this was served right on top of a serving of seasoned home fries. Although I normally don't like seasoning on potatoes, these were very good. In summary, our breakfast was better than we'd expected to get at either The Bay Diner or Katies, both of which serve very good food; our wait time was zero, and the room was very comfortable, especially given the weather outside. At this writing the Sand Trap has only one other Yelp review (five stars), and that was for lunch, so ours will make the first breakfast review (also 5 stars). Google has a smattering of positive reviews, so it might not be long before The Sand Trap earns a much deserved reputation as a preferred breakfast option in Wolfeboro. We will certainly be back!

A laid back, hearty breakfast. Yes, it's open to the public. It is located on the golf course, but…read moreno reservations or membership is necessary to come and dine here! The service was friendly, and we both enjoyed our breakfast here. Service was a little slow but nothing I would raise an eyebrow at. The vibes here are vintage golf club meets diner: the furniture/dining chairs were upholstered with old school golf-themed fabric which was cute. I'd definitely come back here for breakfast!

But this cool, historic tavern is still alive and well! Come show some local support. We are Rhode Islanders, and have been coming up here for almost 40 years, and this place holds a dear, sweet place in our heart. We did not partake in food this time around, but it looked and smelled amazing. The drinks/wine were wonderful. Give them a shot! You won't be disappointed!

I'm going to assume it was the bartender, who was shockingly rude, sarcastic, and disrespectful, to say the very least. Not my first experience with this bartender either. The bartender's and server's at Wolfe's Tavern are absolutely horrible. They have reprehensible attitudes and are colossally rude to customers. I asked for a simple clarification of their operating hours. This man was indignant and impolite, calling me out for bringing a discrepancy to his attention!! Uh..what?! I've been a resident of Wolfeboro, NH, for 70 years. This establishment once stood as the landmark for elegant dining, professional and competent administration and staff, and was respected throughout the Lakes Region. You once had an Executive Chef named "Hoke" many, many years ago...a quintessential gentleman with great culinary expertise, who frequently would come out of the kitchen, go table to table, introduce himself to all the patrons, and ask them if their meals were up to their liking. This man "made" The Wolfeboro Inn, almost singlehandedly. When he resigned because of a difficulty with management, the place plummeted...nearly overnight. Fast forward to August, 2025, and it is now worse than ever. I'd recommend Dunkin' Donuts on Center Street, or The Bay Diner on Main ahead of here. It's no wonder today's bartender refused to give his first name...no doubt fearful of this review(!) or one in The Granite State News, aka "The Grunter."

This is a community favorite and for good reason: the seafood is exceptionally cooked and the classic lakeside, vintage feel is approachable and still well maintained. This trip, we went to Morrissey's three times for lunch/ice cream and once for dinner. For dinner, we sat in the main dining room. Admittedly, service was a bit slower than some people liked in our party (but I was okay with waiting for it, I'm on lake time!) that was the only qualm we had at dinner was how the service was slow because they are obviously understaffed. When we came for lunch with a smaller party, we decided to sit at the bar instead which is on the other side of the building and more of a dive bar feel: an Irish pub. All of the meals were great, but we preferred sitting in the bar and got much faster service there during our lunch. Of all of the food we've tried, my favorites were the fried scallop and the Cajun shrimp bruschetta. And the Mac and cheese was yummy! But everything has tasted great! And you can't go wrong with some ice cream! Make a reservation if you're planning on doing dinner, but expect a slower pace. So maybe have a snack or don't come starving and know it will be a little slower. But worth the wait in my opinion! Or sit at the bar if you're okay with music and a little bit of a louder environment during your meal with your party.
