Morrissey's is a vibe: you know when you enter a restaurant in a small town and you can sense all of the generations of history it holds? Yeah, that's the kinda spot Morrissey's is. This is a community favorite and for good reason: the seafood is exceptionally cooked and the classic lakeside, vintage feel is approachable and still well maintained. This trip, we went to Morrissey's three times for lunch/ice cream and once for dinner. For dinner, we sat in the main dining room. Admittedly, service was a bit slower than some people liked in our party (but I was okay with waiting for it, I'm on lake time!) that was the only qualm we had at dinner was how the service was slow because they are obviously understaffed. When we came for lunch with a smaller party, we decided to sit at the bar instead which is on the other side of the building and more of a dive bar feel: an Irish pub. All of the meals were great, but we preferred sitting in the bar and got much faster service there during our lunch. Of all of the food we've tried, my favorites were the fried scallop and the Cajun shrimp bruschetta. And the Mac and cheese was yummy! But everything has tasted great! And you can't go wrong with some ice cream! Make a reservation if you're planning on doing dinner, but expect a slower pace. So maybe have a snack or don't come starving and know it will be a little slower. But worth the wait in my opinion! Or sit at the bar if you're okay with music and a little bit of a louder environment during your meal with your party. read more

Great chicken. Great whole belly clams. However over several years we've visited, the food has lost some consistency. Had lunch recently and I ordered a cup of chili that was way too sweet and the crab cake burger sandwich was horrible. The potato wedges were good and the wife enjoyed the clams as well as the lobster mac & cheese. I would recommend the Irish Spice Bag if you like a little heat. Very good service. Always quite loud. We were so disappointed in our meals yesterday. We have been numerous times and everything's always been decent, but yesterday my Reuben was inedible this big chunks of fatty meat. I couldn't even chew the steak fries were thin and over fried and gross no dipping sauce for the chicken tenders, which were tasteless and chewy. I don't like to leave reviews like this, but we even mentioned it, and they didn't do anything about it so I'm leaving this review. The one good thing was my grandson's clam chowder. We had Morrissey's cater our rehearsal dinner for us the Friday night of bike week. They made a surfer and turf, catering experience second to none. our menu included, lobster sliders, shrimp, cocktails, international cheeseboard, and bacon scallops chicken and beef teriyaki, finger sandwiches, chicken tenders and more. Nobody left hungry for a group of 40 that was plenty of food and it was all delicious. Pick up time for our catering was 5 o'clock on a Friday night during bike week. Everything was ready hot and very well presented. Their service and attention to detail was amazing. First time at Morrisey's. Visiting from phoenix, went in with zero expectations. Very busy night (4th of July crowd) so we sat at the bar. It was slow going but we got a drink eventually and ordered food. Food took a while ~25 minutes, but chalk that up to being packed. I got the fresh beer battered haddock, onion rings and cole slaw. HUGE piece of haddock and the beer batter was exceptional. Not a big fish guy but the haddock was indeed very fresh and the onion rings were TOP TIER. The coleslaw was good and fresh, not too vinegary and not too sweet. nothing spectacular but it did its job. All in all a good amount of food that I, a big eater, left about 25% on the plate just from being full. The service was friendly if not a bit stressed they had one server at the bar for 4th of July weekend which seemed like a mistake. The owner (one of the morriseys) was chatting up customers at the bar (and also the bartender) which added to the vibe of the place but also slowed down the bartender significantly. The overall food vibe of the bar section was dark and almost dive barish in a good way. Did not visit the full restaurant section but it was very busy and I assume it's a more traditional setting. Enjoyable and we didn't have to wait an hour unlike some other places in downtown wolfboro. Would visit again. read more

First time at this long established restaurant. It's billed as an Irish pub, but had so much more. The dining room we were in was wood paneled and had polished wooden booths. Looked like an old summer camp dining room, but had large windows all around letting in tons of light. Our server came right away, took our order, and was back in a flash with our drinks. Our food came along soon after - very quick kitchen. The place was quite full so I was surprised with how quickly we got our food. I had the cod sandwich with no bun and coleslaw. The coleslaw was excellent. The fish was two filets and was tasty. My husband had the Rachel sandwich which was very good. He got a side of onion rings which were crispy and not greasy. Perfect! Next time we'll com with bigger appetites and try the yummy looking Shepherds pie. read more

We were there July 3rd for dinner with a large party. They were having issues with power. We were treated poorly by the older hostess. She was very rude and locked some of our party out and told them if they went outside again they would not be allowed back in. Server was nice but overwhelmed and forgot many things in our order. Someone in our party ordered medium rare steak tips that were completely overcooked and cold. They brought out "new" but I'm pretty sure they were the same and added more gravy...looked like dog food. It was hot in the room. Owner was too busy doing shots at the bar with patrons. Tried their espresso martini on tap and it was gross. Too add insult to injury they double charged our card. We called and they said they would fix and sure enough they did not. Spent hours on phone trying to resolve. Will never go back. Terrible food, awful drinks and abysmal customer service. read more

Stopped by Morrissey's front porch on our tour of New Hampshire and it did not disappoint! When you walk in the door, it's like you've stepped back a century. They have kept all of the old charm of the place while making the upgrades needed in the care and attention to detail really show. We were greeted by our server, Jessica, who is just the absolute sweetest and gave us the whole history of the place. She was super knowledgeable and had the best stories. And now the absolutely phenomenal food. We got the shepherds pie and clam chowder. I'm always skeptical. When I see someone say they have an award-winning clam chowder but this one definitely lives up to the hype. it was creamy and rich, and had all of the hallmarks of a normal clam chowder, but included extra flavors that made it stand out. I can't tell you exactly what it was, but it was one of the best claim chowders I've ever eaten. The shepherds pie was equally as good. The vegetables were fresh and the crust on top was so comforting. I would highly recommend you make this place a stop on your trip and if you're a local that you come back time and time again because I wished I lived closer to this place!!! read more

We really liked it here, it wasn't very busy when we came in so we were a little concerned, but it just meant better service for us. The food was really good, I got the prime rib with mashed potatoes, it was cooked to the right temp, but I didn't love the gravy on the potatoes, I wish there was au jus instead. Next time I'll just order without gravy. My husband got a fried seafood combo, the kitchen got his order wrong, but having scallops instead of shrimp ended up being a great mix-up because the scallops were delicious! We got some desserts to go, and they were also really good. I'll definitely be going back again. read more

Food service and atmosphere were great every time I went there. A fun and welcoming place to be. Everyone there are always in a happy place.

The service was adequate however the manager was very rude. we had asked the server if there was a way to turn the fan down as we were sitting directly underneath it and it was very cold and she said she'd ask, but she didn't think so. The Manager came over and said is there a problem over here with an attitude and proceeded to tell us that she was not going to turn the fan down because it would make her servers hot without the fan, running. Meanwhile, it's 715 at night and the restaurant closes at eight. How hot would the servers actually get. poor poor poor customer service. would be too hot. No apology just a very poor attitude. Also, we drove 40 minutes out of our way while on vacation because we heard that the chowder was the best around, totally disagree. He was so salty. I couldn't even finish it. (On the appetizer menu) the clam chowder is über delicious with bacon, potatoes, herbs and cream, nice and thick but the addition of sweet and tender seared scallops takes it over the top! We ate at Morrissey's Front Porch yesterday and it was a complete accident. The restaurant we had driven to town to have lunch, was closed for vacation. We were hungry and not happy that our plan fell through. We had passed Morrissey's Front Porch on the way into town so we decided to try them out. We were surprised that it was very spacious inside with lots of windows and a cozy environment. Our server was friendly and took really good care of us. They have very good lunch specials and the regular menu looked great with lots of options. Settling on two lunch specials, I got the Haddock with Cole slaw and thick Maine fries. This fried Haddock is now #1 on my top 5 list of was is really fish and chips. The homemade tartar sauce is creamy and seasoned perfectly. My wife ordered the slider special with two sliders and a side of thick Maine cut fries. What a happy accident that we found this excellent restaurant. We will now be driving to Wolfeboro to eat lunch or dinner at Morrissey's Front Porch. Keep up the great work, well done! read more

Very good restaurant. Everything taste made from scratch. It's a great place to take your family. Ive been going to this restaurant since it was Baileys (over 30 years). I remember the food being mediocre but how times have changed. This restaurant is my family's favorite. We went there 3 times in one week. I had the prime rib, 10/10, my dad had the seafood stew 10/10. The onion rings were the best I've ever had. The pretzel sticks were very good. For having a big menu they nail almost everything. Deserts: the white chocolate bread pudding with ice cream is down right incredible 12/10. The cookie and brownie sundaes are good as well 8/10. I wasn't a huge fan of the Kentucky bourbon steaks tips. They were braised and the dish was closer to beef stew. I give that dish a 6/10. The toffee pudding desert was dry and it was a little underwhelming. Overall, 100 percent would go back and recommend to friends and family. It might be the best restaurant I've been to in the lakes region. read more

We arrived here at 5:50 and it's now 6:30. We were seated as soon as we walked in. We had our beers delivered. We ordered our appetizers and entrees. We have not received our apps. We asked our server and she said they are extremely busy. We can see the kitchen from our seats! It's getting busy now and not so much a 1/2 hour ago. A gentleman did come over to say she did not enter our apps and would comp us. We'll see if she forgot our entrees as well. We rec'd our apps 5min later they are good. The server apologized and said it was all her fault. The food was very good. We both ordered fried seafood dinners with haddock, shrimp & scallops. The onion rings are the best and I saw them being made in the kitchen using fresh cut onions. Other then out server not having a good night the food is very good. read more

Not sure why it took us 6 years of coming to Winnepausaukee to try out Morrissey's but to Use the old cliche "it was worth the wait". We made up for lost time by going 2 times this weekend for lunch. They had me at "naked lobster roll". De-Lish! We get alot of summer guests asking where to go for the perfect lobster roll. The usual Places we would send them were fine, but not "memorable".
