I brought my car in to have the radiator fixed. About an hour into my cross country move, my car overheated and started smoking on the highway. After a 5 hour delay, I was made aware my thermostat gauge had broken. When I contacted Lyndale, they agreed to reimburse me for the repair as the mechanic who ended up fixing the thermostat gauge confirmed that the issue was directly related to the work done on my radiator--they weren't careful. I followed up 1-2 times a week for 3 months. Don't agree to pay for something and then stop responding. I wouldn't trust them with my car again. Also - radiator is still hissing. Not worth the stress or lack of accountability. read more

I dropped my car off on a Friday...called all afternoon....no answer. Called Saturday morning, answered the phone one the 4th call. I spoke to a mechanic and he asked me what kind of a noise was the car making. I told him..no noise, it is just riding very hard..every little bump was rough..no steering problems. I thought shocks and/or struts. Called Monday a.m. we need to run a diagnostic...NO YOU DON'T...just take it for a drive!!!! The ONLY reason I went there is because I had a $100 gift certificate that Iwon in a raffle. They never called to say they were closing at noon on Saturday...I am beyond angry. As I write this, I am taking the risk of never seeing my car again. I would give 0 Stars, if I could. After Lyndale worked on the Thermostat (a 2 day job, which cost $500+) we picked the car up Friday late afternoon. We drove it home and then to the gym in East Longmeadow, the next day, where the shifter would not disengage. The car kept rolling. I had to pull the parking brake, then cut the engine. After AAA got us going, we drove immediately to Lyndale's Saturday morning. The person who finally opened the door, after we called to say we were waiting for them to remove the "CLOSED" sign (way after 8:00), said, it was a safety hazard, since the car could keep rolling. Of course we knew this from AAA, but clearly it meant nothing for him to prioritize our concern, since we were returning a vehicle that was just in their possession. Though we are not expecting Lyndale to admit any responsibility, in causing the damage, when they were working on the thermostat, they chose not to look at the vehicle until Tuesday. We were also told the part came in yesterday, Wednesday. At this time, Thursday afternoon, the car has not been brought into the garage again. We were told they will look at it after lunch. If the car was not unsafe to drive, I would pick it up and take it somewhere else. We are VERY disgruntled, UN-satisfied customers, who will not spend another dime at Lyndale's. read more

Lyndale Garage is my go-to place for all things car related in the neighborhood. The service is always prompt and courteous. To give you an idea of their prices an oil change is $29.99 and the price to replace a starter on a 2008 Kia is $341 (obviously the price will vary depending on part prices). I forgot how much the inspection cost but it was around $20 or so. They did not charge me anything for diagnostics twice which was very nice of them! I believe they offer a AAA discount 10% (up to $50) check your AAA membership and ask Lyndale Garage about it. They offer a quick and thorough inspection on Saturdays (I believe 8am to noon?) which is convenient. There is a yellow line on the right side as you pull up to the garage, just park in that line and wait your turn (it may be beneficial to keep your car running so it's warmed up and the engine runs smoothly). They don't work on weekends which I think is loss of good business as that is the best time to bring your car in for problems so as it doesn't interfere with your Mon-Fri job. Having searched for mechanics who work on weekends, there are very few out there, this is a prime opportunity to capture all of the weekend customers in the area. The money might even offset hiring a weekend mechanic and service person? I can't speak about the mechanics as I've never interacted with them, but the woman who answers the phone sometimes and Dan at the front desk are always a pleasure to speak with! Overall I am very happy with this place, it seems like a family run business that won't rip you off like some shady car places. Definitely give them a try next time your car is acting up. read more

Read some good reviews about the mechanics at this place. I needed my truck's suspension looked at so I called Monday morning to make an appointment. They told me to bring it in Friday, when asked what time would work best, he replied, "the earlier the better". That was red flag number 1. Fast forward to Friday, I bring my truck in around 0830 (they open at 0800). I leave it with them for the day. I call around 3PM to check in on how it's going. "It's not even in the building yet, we'll call you when we have an update"...okay, they close at 5PM and it's Friday and they're not open over the weekend. He doesn't say "something came up, probably won't have time to look at it today", just a short, annoyed and unhelpful response. Flash forward two more hours..it's now after closing time, haven't heard an update. I call the shop, the young lady who answers the phone is completely clueless to my entire situation, proceeds to put me on hold and promptly returns to tell me it hasn't even been looked at yet. Bonus...they won't be looking at it over the weekend. Had they even planned to call me and tell me they "were going to keep" my truck over the weekend without even an update? Probably not. Red flag #2. I told them I'd be right over to pick it up. I showed up and the mechanic didn't even bother to come explain why the appointment I made 4 days ago meant nothing. The keys were in the truck and it was out front. Red flag #3. I get it, things get busy. I'm a physician, I work 80 hours a week, it is extremely difficult for me to coordinate things during normal business hours. I was on vacation that week and had time to schedule an appointment and get the work done, except now I made 2 trips and went without a vehicle for the day with nothing to show for it and also don't have time left in my vacation to make another appointment. Busy or not, poor customer service. Poor scheduling. And a shop owner/manager without the nuts and bolts to face a customer you screwed over and explain why. Go somewhere else that deserves your busines UPDATE: March 2020: Owner stated in reply they would reach out to try to make things right. That never happened. The owners are friendly and nice to talk, but they hired a crook (Dan), he's always going to rip you off. I guess he gets a percentage of what is charged. The worst part, the repairs are never done right and makes you come back and something else is needed and you have to pay again and again. You will regret going to this dump. read more

My family has been going to Lyndale for over 30 years. I remember going there when I was little and feeling right at home. They are smart about all types of cars, honest, and great to work with. When my moms transmission on her car went, they gave her an honest estimate on the amount it would cost to fix the car...and they said she should probably not spend the money and trade it in instead. They are HONEST. I currently live in Richmond VA (I'm in college) and when I was estimated $1,700 worth of work to be done with my car I called Lyndale and asked for their advice. They told me to go get a second opinion. When I went to another local mechanic down here they estimated me at $250. They also said that if I came back up here (my family still lives in MA and I was gonna go back up to buy a new car) they wanted to check it out before I spent the money to go get a new car. I can't tell you lucky I felt to have the mechanics at Lyndale have my back. They run their business on trust and integrity. I know they take good care of their customers. My entire family has taken their vehicles to Lyndale over the past 20 - 30 years. They are wonderful to work with, extremely honest and take the time to explain every detail.
