I have been sneaking tastes of the cakes, cupcakes, and cookies from this baker for well over a year now, because her husband would bring over goodies to work for celebratory occasions. Talk about a sweet friendship. Btw, I am sooo picky with desserts, but I LOVE desserts. I hope that makes sense because Jess, the baker of Damduk, made that "cut" in fulfilling my sweet tooth. Not too sweet, pretty in appearance & edible without all the fondant. My personal favorite is her carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. I am not the type to go out of my way for carrot cake, but hers is moist & spiced up so right, you'd think it's fall season with every bite. & that cream cheese is so (insert Pacha meme from Emperor's New Groove). Red Velvet is another good flavor to go with the cream cheese icing. Trust, I am not an icing fan (i usually scoop icing off) but her Swiss cream is palatable. Messaging through IG is how we communicated and she is pretty straightforward. Pick up is in Aiea and delivery is extra & optional if you got a lot going on your plate. I have been looking for some sort of excuse to buy a cake from her & my birthday is so far away or I am always traveling for it. My fiancé took the initiative & custom ordered it for our engagement day & it was the cutest surprise! The cakes that I have gotten from this bakery has been so special & memorable for me. I really appreciate Jess and her hard work into making the cakes so perfect for me. It is so nice when you find a reason to celebrate & you know it's going to be a good time because you are assured that the product will come the way you want it, if not, better. Yesterday I had to make asKtop at the yarn store and couldn't think of a better way to treat myself than with Peggy Ann's, Unfortunately, most of what I got was disappointing. I did start with my favorite - the smiley face buttercream icing sugar cookie. Really, the bottom sugar cookie is just acting as a vehicle for the nearly 1" tall circle of buttercream icing (it may be frosting - I honestly don't know the difference and, really, I don't care, all I know is that I can eat their buttercream with a spoon.) It took 3 days to actually get to the sugar cookie on the bottom. Along with the cookie, I bought just a bunch of random baked goods. I bought my husband an iced brownie which he didn't finish because it was just way too sweet. I bought one of my childhood favorites - a cream horn. This is coming from the person who ate straight butter cream for three days - the cream was so sweet it just overwhelmed the delicate horn. I ate the pastry which was delicious only after I scraped out the cream. I bought a blueberry scone for breakfast - nothing at all special. And finally, I got my husband a banana nut muffin. He said "taste this" - I don't know what was wrong with it but it was awful and we tossed it. Peggy Ann Bakery is known for their petit fours. Both my husband and my son's FIL said "huh, I don't know" when asked if they knew what a petit four was. If you're younger than 50, you might not know either, but these tiny cakes are a favorite at Southern showers and teas. I've really never known anyone who just ate them because they liked them but they do make you want to go "pinkies out" when you see them displayed on the table. I was really excited about my visit to Peggy Ann Bakery but now it just makes me sad - I spent $16 yet we threw away almost half of what I bought.

A bell rang as I walked in and someone came out to serve me right away. He was pleasant and eager to share with me all about their products. He offered me samples of all the popcorn and fudge and also told me about their loyalty program and their monthly drawings. One thing I really liked was they had a lot of popular treats (turtles, chocolate covered graham crackers, chocolate covered Oreos, etc) each available in all the different varieties of chocolate (i.e. milk, dark, and white chocolate). They also have turtles made with cashews, as well as the traditional pecan. I got a dark chocolate cashew turtle for my mom, a regular milk chocolate pecan turtle for me, milk chocolate covered graham crackers for my husband, and a bag of cheddar cheese popcorn. I don't remember the total off the top of my head, but I do remember feeling it was a touch on the pricy side. Each item was wrapped nicely. Mom enjoyed her treat and so did husband. He was nice enough to give me one of the graham crackers and it was very good! Nice ratio of chocolate to graham and the chocolate was super nice and creamy. I still haven't gotten around to my chocolate but I imagine it will be similarly tasty. Haven't yet met a turtle I didn't like. The cheddar popcorn was just alright. I thought the cheese flavor was a little too artificial for my preferences, and some of the popcorn was a tiny bit stale, though none of it was unpleasant enough to keep me from eating it, lol. Just nit picking. Overall, this is a nice little shop with lovely service and especially good chocolates. Give them a try if you're passing through!

I thought there was a smidge too much frosting on them for the size of the cakes but it wasn't egregious like it is at Bite Me Cupcakery at Bridge Street. The chocolate peanut butter cupcake didn't have much peanut butter flavor (only the bites with PB drizzle); personally, I was hoping for some peanut butter flavor in the cake itself. The cookies and cream was bland but not overly sweet, which was a plus. Overall, for my experience there, this place offered pretty but expensive desserts that satisfied if not necessarily blew my socks off.
