I was surprised to find it in the old Whisk'd location -- RIP to Whisk'd; I loved that restaurant. Street parking only but the street is quiet and it's easy to pop in and out. Inside there's a huge array of confections: classic chocolates like turtles, chocolate covered pretzels, marshmallows, etc., as well as fresh baked cookies and a somewhat startling amount of freeze dried candies. I know that's sort of having a moment right now, but WOW there was a lot of freeze dried stuff to choose from. I don't dislike it but I prefer chocolatey treats so I skirted around the big display. I came about 1.5 hours before closing and will admit the selection (other than freeze dried) was a little sparse. I'm glad they're not letting products go to waste, but in the future, definitely come early if you want to ensure you get everything. More than one customer asked/called in for something only to be turned away while I was shopping around. Of course, the holidays might also have something to do with very high demand. Anyway, I wound up leaving with two cookies (only about four varieties were available when I arrived -- I took a chocolate chip and a brown butter cookie), three chocolate covered pretzels, and one pecan turtle. The service was limited to being rung up at the cash register, but the employee was nice in our limited interaction. My husband and I enjoyed all the treats over the following days! The chocolate was smooth and rich on pretzels and pecans, the caramel chewy and satisfying. The pecans and pretzels were both crispy and fresh -- no problems with staleness here. The cookies were good, too, though perhaps a tiny touch oily. I liked the brown butter better but both were enjoyable! They're the perfect size to share. I'd definitely return here for sweets!

It's a little shop with a small but diverse inventory of confections. There's no room to sit and eat inside but it's a quick walk over to the food garden if you want to have your treat there. Honestly, going inside didn't make the charcuterie part of the business any more evident - it looks like mostly desserts - but I was there for dessert anyway so nbd. Service was a little cool at first but warmed up as I asked questions and for recommendations. I wound up getting two cupcakes to go (a chocolate peanut butter one and a cookies and cream one at the employee's recommendation) and a strawberry pretzel salad for right then. I'll be honest, this place gave me sticker shock pretty badly. These are very average sized cupcakes (with beautiful frosting work...but the fact remains these aren't the behemoths you'd get during the viral mega cupcake craze a few years ago) and the strawberry pretzel salad cup was also comfortably for one serving only. It was about $14, almost 16 with tip. Whew! The products were alright but nothing really stood out. The strawberry pretzel salad was probably the best thing, but it was all in very discrete layers, which is not my preference. The pretzels were completely separate from everything else and it was hard getting a bite of all the elements put together. That said, the flavors were good, though the strawberry part could've been a bit sweeter. The cupcakes were fine. I thought there was a smidge too much frosting on them for the size of the cakes but it wasn't egregious like it is at Bite Me Cupcakery at Bridge Street. The chocolate peanut butter cupcake didn't have much peanut butter flavor (only the bites with PB drizzle); personally, I was hoping for some peanut butter flavor in the cake itself. The cookies and cream was bland but not overly sweet, which was a plus. Overall, for my experience there, this place offered pretty but expensive desserts that satisfied if not necessarily blew my socks off. It might be a good spot for a quick sweet tooth fix if you're enjoying time at Stovehouse.

I did start with my favorite - the smiley face buttercream icing sugar cookie. Really, the bottom sugar cookie is just acting as a vehicle for the nearly 1" tall circle of buttercream icing (it may be frosting - I honestly don't know the difference and, really, I don't care, all I know is that I can eat their buttercream with a spoon.) It took 3 days to actually get to the sugar cookie on the bottom. Along with the cookie, I bought just a bunch of random baked goods. I bought my husband an iced brownie which he didn't finish because it was just way too sweet. I bought one of my childhood favorites - a cream horn. This is coming from the person who ate straight butter cream for three days - the cream was so sweet it just overwhelmed the delicate horn. I ate the pastry which was delicious only after I scraped out the cream. I bought a blueberry scone for breakfast - nothing at all special. And finally, I got my husband a banana nut muffin. He said "taste this" - I don't know what was wrong with it but it was awful and we tossed it. Peggy Ann Bakery is known for their petit fours. Both my husband and my son's FIL said "huh, I don't know" when asked if they knew what a petit four was. If you're younger than 50, you might not know either, but these tiny cakes are a favorite at Southern showers and teas. I've really never known anyone who just ate them because they liked them but they do make you want to go "pinkies out" when you see them displayed on the table. I was really excited about my visit to Peggy Ann Bakery but now it just makes me sad - I spent $16 yet we threw away almost half of what I bought.

Breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, cheddar biscuit, and potatoes was Dave's order. The cheddar biscuit was nearly the size of my hand. Easily 2.5 times larger than average biscuits. My former manager, Jimmy Randolph, told me years ago that his mother made cat head biscuits. The biscuit was at least the size of a cat's head. The cheddar biscuit was delicious. Dave said everything about his order except the potatoes was ok. He is a simple man who does not want green peppers, onions or anything else cooked with his potatoes. As soon as he saw the add ons to his side of potatoes, he had a grumpy look. He refused to eat said add ons. He said he wouldn't order a side of potatoes again. 3/5 My Southwest Omelette and potatoes was average. The omelette was cooked too much. It was dry. There wasn't enough cheese in my humble opinion. The potatoes were ok. The potatoes were boiled with no crisp edges. I prefer crispy potatoes. I did eat the add ons. They were flavorful. 3/5 The menu lists breakfast potatoes. No description of additional bell peppers and onions added. I bought a few petit fours. Two vanilla and two chocolate for $8. They were beautifully decorated and tasted good. They were not the best I have had but not the worst. 4/5 I will return to Edgar's. They have many bakery items to select from. The young person (woman) decided to help me, she was silent (didnt speak a courteous word.) I was asking about the Easter cupcakes, she simply demanded "which ones do you want". She then proceeded to put the selected cupcakes in a carry out vessel and crushed the lovely icing into the top of the clamshell. She never even slowed down to see what she did. She then went away for several minutes while I was trying to checkout without cupcakes. Once the first (helper???) actually brought the cupcakes the checkout person turned them on their side. From their website I learned they will create gift baskets for you; the offer a wedding registry with absolutely lovely items from which to select; baby registries; gift cards. To sum it up - this cozy shop packs a big punch! Through their website they offer 6,634 gifts and products from 32 designers and brands!
