If I could give a lower rating I would. These thieves will take advantage of you they can. I bought a factory trailer brake controller and installed it myself to save the install cost since it takes maybe 5 minutes to hook up the computer and literally just turn on the brake controller. I could see a minimum half hour charge. They wouldnt do it for less than a full shop hour, so $173. FIVE minutes on a computer, $173. No one else around had the programmer apparently to do this so since I needed it that weekend, so I had to pay. I'll never do business with these thieves again. Ever. I'll sell or set fire to the truck first. Go to Huntsville or Cullman, they seem much more likely not to gouge you for 5 minutes of "work" on your truck. If they still would charge you for it, don't buy a Ford! $173 for 5 minutes of computer time as insanity, it's a shop, not a high dollar lawyer! read more

Has had my Mother-in-law car for 7 months Glenn in service has made statements that were just untrue told me the parts were order and it'll be ready next week, the following week comes oh we just started the work, we are waiting on more parts, then when I show up to the dealership was told still waiting on hoses!! And they will start work next week! Run away from this place!!! read more

Even when I was willing to go all the way down to 10k, they only came up to $9200. THEY JUST CAN'T GET IT RIGHT. Purchased my 2020 f150 truck as a retirement vehicle. It did have some minor damage to the drivers and rear door that apparently was done on the yard and repaired prior to my purchase. I was aware of this when purchasing the vehicle and when viewing the repair, it looked correct. Due to the Covid epidemic, the vehicle remained parked off to the side and really didn't spend anytime around the truck. It wasn't until I sold my car and started parking the F150 as my regular space that I had more of a view to it. It was then that I discovered damage to the paint apparently caused by the repair. It looked to me that paint was sprayed, but not buffed out correctly with clear-coat sprayed over it which reflected light differently and was really only noticeable at certain angles. Additionally, the paint was a mismatch on the entire door as compared to the rest of the vehicle. Two third-party auto paint specialist agreed the paint only needed to be buffed out to correct the dark spot and the color mismatch. I brought the truck in to have it looked at by the Lynn Layton body shop. The manager asked me to bring it in a second time to have the paint looked at by the PPG paint rep who was not present on my second visit and then a third time which was looked at by Mr. Smallwood, the General Manager of Lynn Layton. I explained my concerns (dark spot and color mismatch) of the paint job to Mr. Smallwood and he was apparently focused on the paint botch on the lower driver's door as no repairs were performed in that area. Mr. Smallwood agreed that it needed to be corrected. Due to the shop being very busy, I was asked to bring the truck in approximately a month later for the work and I agreed. When picking up the truck from the shop, the work appeared to be good. When I got it home, I realized that the bright sunlight off the white paint was preventing me from seeing the detail in the repair. In the shade, it was obvious instead of buffing the paint, more paint was applied which was the main cause of the paint mismatch and the dark spot. Furthermore, paint was applied to the point that it was rippled as if it was ready to run and the color was still a mismatch due to excessive paint being applied. They did the exact opposite of what was recommended the two paint specialist. The truck went in a third attempt to fix the paint and all that was done was to buff off some of the heavily laid paint from the area on the former dark spot. The ripples are still present and the paint doesn't match. Viewing the third repair attempt with Mr. Smallwood, I informed him the repair is totally unacceptable. His replied several times, "what do you want me to do"? My reply each time was for him to make it right and fix it. There's still excessive paint and the color still doesn't match. If for nothing else, this poor work has reduced the the trade-in value by a considerable amount. I can't sue Lynn Layton Ford as they have you sign an arbitration agreement during the sale to settle any complaints through the BBB. Even if I was to get the decision in my favor, it would mean just another Lynn Layton botch job. Ford Motor was no help as it wasn't a warrantee repair. If the repair was done correctly the first time by someone that knew what they were doing and a knowledgeable supervisor checked it before it was released, it would have been fixed correctly a long time ago. read more

It took me 2 weeks to get an appointment for my car to be serviced. When I arrived they said there were eight cars ahead of me and this was at 7:45 a.m. I stated I have an appointment and doesn't that give me Priority I was told no it just puts me in line. When I called that afternoon to check the status of my vehicle I was told there are still 5 cars ahead of me and they probably wouldn't get to it today and he had no idea when they would look at it. If I had known it wasn't going to be looked at I would have kept my car and tell they were able to provide service. They told me they were still working on cars from 3 days ago. So what was the plan of my appointment? They had absolutely no regard for my concerns or my time. When I spoke with the service manager he was very good at making excuses and saying he understands but yet there was no resolution. This is the worst service I have ever been given by any repair facility. If you are happy with this facility you were lucky! If you live in Decatur I would advise taking your car anywhere else besides Lynn Layton Ford! read more

In mid April of 2019, I took my 2007 Lincoln Town Car to Lynn Layton Ford to repair the Air Conditioner which was blowing hot air. On the first try, they advised me that I was out of freon and that was all I needed to fix this problem, and this lasted two days. At the end of April 2019, I took it in again and they told me it was a valve in the A/C which was leaking, that they fixed the problem, and this lasted 3 days. I was very hesitant about going back again, so this time I requested to talk to Customer Service concerning this problem, and spoke with Brian Presely, an outstanding Customer Service Manager. Brian, requested I give them another chance at fixing the A/C, and if they could not he would return my money from the first and second services performed. Since I would need to leave it for a few days, they gave me a loaner (2019 Explorer) which I drove around for four (4) days at no charge. After four (4) days I called to determine if my car had been fixed, and the service attendant advised, that yes it had been fixed by replacing the condenser at no charge. I have been driving around now for two months and with no problems. The A/C is cold and better than the original. I consider this as excellent service by Lynn Layton Ford and would recommend them to ANY INQUIRING FUTURE CUSTOMER! read more

Drove to Decatur to look at a Ford Escape advertised on the dealer's website as a "new" vehicle. Was told by the salesman as soon as we asked about the car that it had been a dealer's demo and already had 2000 miles on it. We thought we'd take a look at the vehicle anyway, but when we looked in the windows of the car the floor on the passenger side was littered with empty snuff cans and spit bottles! It was absolutely filthy!!! But they're advertising this a a brand new car!!! I think not!!. Would never go back to this dealership under any circumstances. read more

If this dealership could get a negative 5 stars then I would definitely give it to them. The service department deserves even a worst rating. I bought a used 2014 Ford F-150 (Then around 18,000 miles, currently 31,606 miles) and was sold an extended warrant (PremiumCare) and was led to believe that it covered almost everything up to 60,000 miles. On Feb. 12, 2018 we carried the truck in due to having several issues that needed attention. Items that needed looked at were the rear defogger, heater blower (no heat or air was coming out the rear vents), and the backup camera was not working. When we arrived at the service department and spoke with the service attendant, we were up front and told them that we had purchased the extended warranty and were having several issues. We told them that the rear window defogger was not working so WITHOUT AN INSPECTION FROM ANYONE the attendant went to the truck and got the VIN number and proceeded to tell us that that part was not under warrant because the back glass would have to be replaced. They did not even look at the problem only the VIN number. We told them that the instrument panel light would come on sometimes but then go off, but they said it was the window itself. It is hard for me to believe that without inspecting the truck that they knew that the window needed replaced. They could see that we were upset so they told us to leave the truck and they would look at the other problems. We asked if they could take us to work and they said yes but that they would not be able to look at the truck until the next day. So we left. The warranty brochure states that the following items are covered: · Heated Backglass (Electrical Only Not Glass Damage or Breakage), Heater Blower Motor * Heater Control Assembly · Heater Core Assembly * Instrument Panel, and Reverse Camera System. FYI, the window has no damage. Actually there is over a thousand parts covered. It seems that because we said that we had the extended warranty it alerted them what not to say or even try to located the problem. I called the service manager and told him about our experience in his service department. He was going to check it out and call me back, however, it has been over a week and no call. This is not where you want to purchase a vehicle or have your service done. You have been warned. read more
