My belly is happy!!! I had to stop myself! The food is delicious and the young lady who took my order (telephonically) was very friendly. I will definitely order from here again!!!

Ugh, green and pasty, still hoping taste good - NOT. Did not taste any fish

Ordered the fishcakes $2.00 each and wanted plantains but they were out. I was excited and hungry and just wanted something to hold me until I got home to eat food already cooked (live nearby). This was like an appetizer. * Problem, it was NASTY, I've eaten LOTS of fishcakes in my lifetime, made from people from the Caribbean as well as from the South as well as making them myself. The problem was that the fishcakes was doughy, pasty, over cooked and a bit burnt, the inside looked like green paste. But, decided not to judge by color since it may be due to spices used. NOT. See Photos * Don't know what they use for the batter, it was thick and doughy no taste, they forgot the spices. The inside pasty, tasteless and just plain nasty, could not finish. Just glad I only lost $4.00 (had 2). * I did call back and spoke to a young lady and told her I was just there and purchased two fishcakes. I asked what kind of fish was used to make the fishcakes (should have done this before purchasing, just asked if any shellfish was used since I'm allergic). She told me they used cod fish, huh? I told her I've eaten a lot of cod fish and cod fishcakes and this one did not taste like cod fish, that I could not taste any type of fish and I eat a lot of fish. I also told her it was doughy and the inside pasty. * I called to let them know that the fishcake was not good, hopefully they took notes and make the necessary changes to improve. I know many people would have just thrown the fishcake away and never gone back. I must say, it was my first time buying food here and my first thought was to never go back but that would not be fair and the other food looked delish. So, called to let them know my experience. * So, I'm that person to give you another chance. But, I will also like to say to them to smile and be a bit more welcoming if they want people to come back because bad food is not the only thing that will keep a customer away. When asking questions about the food, they acted as though I was imposing or interrupting them (man and woman). Probably the reason only ordered the fishcakes. * I almost walked out without ordering and now I wish I did. This happened today, March 17, 2021.

I have been eating West Indian, Jamaican and other Caribbean foods in NYC for nearly 15 years and this is by far one of the best!!! An unassuming little place tucked away in the block that could be missed but definitely is worth seeking out. The food was incredible and even late at night was fresh, flavorful and satisfying. The offered large portions and exceptional service. I can't wait to come back for their famous Seafood soup. Even my pickiest friend loved her food. It's also super affordable. Don't miss this hidden gem!!!

This is small size and $10.

The restaurant was packed, so we waited about 10 to 15 minutes, even with a reservation. Thankfully, it was a beautiful day. Once seated, we ordered a few drinks. My Strawberry Basil Lemonade was refreshing and their Virgin Pina Colada with Strawberry was perfect. Our waitress, Queen, recommended a few items, and they were a hit. The Coconut Shrimp were crispy and flavorful, and the sweet chili dipping sauce complemented them well. I was nervous that the Jerk Chicken was going to be too salty, but the seasoning was outstanding. The spice level was fine, not too spicy at all. And the Coconut Rice & Peas were great. I'd happily return and recommend this spot to family and friends.

There were only 2 other parties seated and we were seated immediately upon arrival. It's fairly dark inside and the decor reminds me a bit of New Orleans. I enjoyed the ambiance. The drinks were great! I had the cocobella while he had margaritas. The table bread was hot and fresh, so make sure they bring it to the table for you. We had the mussels for an appetizer, lamb chops and bass. EVERYTHING was excellent! The flavor of the broth for the mussels was Devine, so much so my husband used his bread to sop up all he could. The bass had great flavor and came with sautéed spinach that was well cooked. It initially looked like a small portion but turned out to be plenty. The lamb chops were cooked to the requested temp and seasoned well. We left no crumbs. This one is definitely worth a try!

Walked into Margon Restaurant in Midtown and instantly felt like I found one of NYC's secret cheat codes. Small space, big flavors, zero nonsense. The kind of place where you're elbow-to-elbow with strangers but everyone's united by one thing... serious hunger. Ordered the Cuban sandwich -- pressed, crispy, loaded with roast pork, glazed ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard. One bite in and I stopped talking... which never happens. This thing didn't just deliver... it showed up early and over-prepared. Then came La Bandera Dominicana Braised beef swimming in savory gravy, yellow rice piled like a mountain, black beans doing their thing, and sweet maduros sitting on top like the victory flag. Simple. Comforting. Dangerous... because now I want it every week. Place gets busy, gets loud, gets chaotic... but it moves like a well-oiled machine. Years of experience and zero attitude. Just good people making great food. In a neighborhood full of tourist traps, this hole-in-the-wall is throwing haymakers. Sometimes the best escape in NYC isn't a rooftop... It's a Cuban sandwich and a plastic tray. And honestly... I'd pick that every time. #nycfood #hiddennyc #midtowneats
