I had a catalytic converter replaced. Greg worked with me each step of the way: calling me when parts were purchased, installing a shield and alarm, and checking up on it when I called about a check engine light. This man/shop is dangerous. I could have died. My car fell apart while I was driving. I had him work on the control arms and catalytic at the same time in January 2025. The control arms he installed was bolted in wrong and O2 sensors were swapped. Luckily we all survived when the car came apart. He's refusing to do the work to fix it. He's probably "lost" the single copy work order that he insisted on keeping. He actually even pulled it from me when I tried to take a picture. I should have insisted when his behavior got more and more unusual but he was recommended by a friend... I have a record of payment. I had my regular mechanic swap the sensors back. My regular mechanic is working on the car now. Honestly the value is what you pay for. It was affordable but my car factually fell apart. I could have died. I hope to get this place closed, no one should be put in danger like this. Im unscathed but this blessing means I have to do something about this shop. read more

I had a great experience here. Brought my car here after the starter burned out, and they were able to do an inspection immediately the same day. Greg was very friendly and honest about pricing and estimated completion time. They were so nice there, even offered to give me a ride back home while my car was being repaired. He called me to give me updates, and even after needing to order new parts, my car was ready the next business day. I came in with my Honda element that had a ignition coil and spark plug problem. When I left the shop it was running okay for about a week, but then my check engine light came on again saying it was the same problem. Went to another mechanic to get a second opinion and the spark plugs were completely mismatched and need to be replaced again. I will be calling for a refund shortly. Greg is a crook and belongs in jail! The first big, red flag is that he lies and claims his credit card machine is broken so guess what? He won't take anything but cash. Another problem is he won't give you a receipt with work done. He will cheat you if he thinks he can get away with it. He must be on drugs or something but he is of very poor integrity and character. Ladies do not take your car here they wanted to charge $1100 . This is my daughter's car which I made that clear. Perhaps because they saw my other car and they thiught they could over charge for the repairs. I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially women. They will take advantage of women, especially older women who they feel that have no knowledge of autos. Greg was recommended by my daughter. The first few times, he pretended to be a good Christian and blessed me and cheerfully greeted me. Little by little his prices kept hiking, when I took my son's Datsun, he charged $500. for a smog check because it needed this or that... I took my Mazda another time and again he charged me $500. and I was told I needed a water pump. I heard other horror stories from other auto mechanics, as well as my new smog check guy, who told me that I should have reported him. AVOID at all costs! They will try to rip you off here. My father took his Tacoma in to get his air conditioner repaired and was charged $250 the first time, once it stopped working a month later he took it in again and was quoted $470 and told it would take 2 hours. My father waited there for 3 hours and the parts never even showed. He left after being upset to another repair shop 5 minutes away and was able to get it fixed there for $290 and it was finished in 45 minutes. read more

Do not repair your car at this body shop. Their price is so expensive. I stop by this shop and ask old white guy to check my tire because the Exclamation mark light on in my car. I thought maybe nail in the tire. The old man ( i guess he is boss) told me he will charge 25 dollar to fix it. I thought he is going to pull up my car and fixed broken tire. He just walk around and say only 1 tire has low pressure . Fixed it in 3 minutes. I asked him if i can use credit card to pay for it. He say no. I asked him if he can give me invoice . He say no. How come you do not provide invoice to clients? My friend told me most body shop do free pressure check when you do oil change service with them. Check pressure problem only cost $5 or $10 dollar. He charge me $25 without any invoice . I added this shop to my blacklist. I will never repair car with them . read more

While grabbing a bite to eat at the restaurant next door (same owners as M & G Auto Repair - Food was pretty good), I decided to give M & G a try at recharging my A/C that was blowing nothing but hot air. In short, they ran full diagnostics, recharged my air conditioner in about 45 minutes, and charged me a fair price. My air is working beautifully. Greg, the owner, was very nice while noting the business has been there for 30 years.....You cannot be in business for 30 years without doing something right. Lied about the price over the phone for a smog check even though I gave all the information needed. Price was $10 more than agreed over the phone. The "boss" was clearly drunk or high and couldn't remember the phone conversation we had 5 minutes earlier. I would not recommend this place. Where to start...first of all, the ONLY reason I am giving this place a ONE star is because I HAVE to, in order to give a review. If I could, NO star would be given to them because they are nothing but thieves! I went in for a smog check, after seeing their FALSE advertisement, and come to find out that the owner (I'm assuming since he's the one in charge) has put out an advertisement saying smogs for $13.99 and when it comes down to it, that doesn't apply. I was told that I'd have to pay more since my car didn't qualify for the $13.99 smog check, which I have no clue why when I have a compact car. The smog mechanic was nice and seemed honest but his BOSS, the owner, is nothing but a thief. I made the appropriate calls and come to find out, this shop has been under the radar of the BAR because of dishonesty. Then my friend decided to take his car in for a diagnostic, he had a minor issue w/ his lights, and the OWNER (again) ended up charging him too much money for a job that was pretty much nothing. Truth is that it's not the mechanics that work there, it's MANAGEMENT. The owner should be honest but maybe he doesn't know what the word means. A mechanic is like your doctor but sadly, there are tons of shops LIKE THIS ONE, that do not believe in being honest they just want to make $$ on the expense of the customers. TO THE OWNER OF THIS SHOP, HIS NAME IS GREG. You really need to look at yourself and how you're running your shop. You are a DISHONEST person and I have made sure that the BAR is informed of this. good mechanics and fair and honest service, from smog, oil change, or my car doesn't start and i don't know what to do.. what i did was call m & g and my mechanic actually came to where i was broken down and picked me up, sending someone to jump the car so it can be serviced. plus there is a mexican spot right next to it so whenever i take my car in, i grab lunch or breakfast and by the time i'm done leisurely eating.. so is my car. :D read more

Greg is the first mechanic to make you feel like you're not getting robbed or gypped in anyway. I've dropped off my car multiple times when the light came on and he basically looked it over told me I didn't need anything and didn't charge me a dime. Shady. Very shady. Same owner for the smog check Place next to it. When you get your smog check they conveniently fail it. Then they tell you it will be $100 to diagnose the problem and then more to fix it. The mechanics here have been known to ask customers to leave their car and pick it up later. Then they use customer cars to run personal errands like lunch, cleaners, etc. One time they crashed a lady's car driving out to El Monte. Sorry, I no longer trust these guys any farther than I can kick them! read more

BEWARE!!! This place is a RIPOFF. I took my sons car to get air conditioning repair. I was told that it could be the case and needed to be converted to a new system and the total price would be $175 and that it would be guaranteed to work after the work was done. When I came back the air still with him blowing cold but I was told that the car needed to run a little bit because it hadn't been blowing cold air in such a long time and I would in a few miles it should start working correctly while I drove quite a distance and back and still nothing. The next day I brought it back because they stated that they would give me a 90 day warranty and I was told after they took a few hours to look at it supposedly because when I got there they were working on other cars the guy told me that it needed a new compressor and that my compressor was cracking it would be anywhere from five to $600 to repair. He told me it had a leak and there was no way that they could know that before hand which I spoke to several people after and that's a crock of shit they could put a dye to check fir leaks so I was basically hustled for my money and still have a nonworking air conditioner in my car. This he proceeded to lie and tell me that he warned me before hand that there was only a 50-50 chance of the whole thing working when he put the new kit and what a crock again he such a liar he never said this to me he told me that he was 100% positive that it would workthis is ridiculous do not come to this place they are full of crap and they will overcharge you for work that's not even done especially if you're a woman be I would definitely bring a male with you if you dare to come to them but my suggestion would be to go take your business elsewhere read more

This place used to provide good service. But I recently took my car there to get the suspension repaired. When I picked it up and drove out, my wheel came off. MY WHEEL CAME OFF! The mechanic forgot to tighten the lug nuts. I could have been killed. The owner Greg fixed it. I decided it was an honest but dangerous mistake and kept going there for business. Greg said he was Christian and I trusted him. I later took my car there to fix an oil leak. When I picked it up I noticed a backfire. Greg wasn't there and one of the mechanics told me it was normal and showed that the car had a lot of power. I went home and looked further and found a vacuum hose disconnected. I connected it and solved the backfire. When I take my car there they usually have me leave it there in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon. I went again to get a smog check on my truck. They told me it failed and they would have to diagnose the problem for $100, then charge more for the fix. I did not leave my car there this time since it was just a smog check. While I waited I saw other customers come and drop off their cars. Then I noticed that the mechanics would use customers's cars to run their errands, go to lunch, etc. I couldn't believe they would be so unprofessional. During a conversation with Greg he told me he once got in an accident in one of the customer's cars while driving in El Monte. Wow! When I took my car home I had friends look at my truck and found out that the reason it failed the smog check was because it was cold and running rich. The solution is to drive the car for a while so the car warms up and the carburetor starts to mix the fuel and air properly. But Greg was willing to charge me $100 for the diagnosis and who knows how much he would have charged me for the "fix". Needless to say I no longet take my vehicles there. I would suggest if you take yours there to at least not leave it there without you knowing what they do with it. read more

Excellent service. I drove up and told the crew what my problem was. I had tried to replace a seized o2 sensor myself; however, I was unable to do so. i was there last week to get oil change..1 guy told me it was gonna be about 25 bucks..then another guy later told me it was 40..i dont know much about cars and im pretty sure they knew that..they over charged me and i asked for the receipt after i paid and they said they do not have a receipt..and i kept asking for one and they said if i do they will have to charge me tax? the thing is that i did not buy anything from them for them to have charge me tax..M&G auto repair is a place that rips people off that does not know about cars..im for sure am not going back to that place..i do not want to get ripped off again read more
