This was a pleasant surprise for once. I have to say normally for any car repairs I try to rotate through some local shops to find someone I can trust and build a long term relationship with. The reason why I say this is because of the common issues we run into when it comes to vehicle maintenance. We go into a shop to get something fixed and either they pretend to fix something and fish you along to fix something else or the shop will tell you will need 10 other items fixed. I'm not really a car guy but from my previous experiences I had one item fixed 3 times. This not only took a lot of time to pick up the car and to take it back and have someone pick you up everytime. I side tracked, but Memo (the owner) met me when I pulled up. I told him I needed an alignment and tire replacement. He told me it's better I get some tired first since he didn't have my size and come back so he can do a proper alignment. At the end I told him to add a tire rotation so I can rotate my good tires to the front so he can do his alignment since I have front wheel drive. It took about 40 minutes for the alignment. Then I asked what other services they offered. He mentioned they can do a lot of mechanical services to the vehicle. Just ask since they have a mechanic by the name Mario on hand. I was ok, I have Honda pilot that the brakes are squealing when I drive. Can they look into it and give me a price? After a quick drive around they determined I need to mill down the rotors and to replace the brakes. They gave me an awesome price and stayed way past closing hours to return my car to me that same day. This is service above and beyond. I told him I'll spread the word on yelp for his business. He didn't even know people reviewed on yelp for him. If that's not a small mom and pop, I don't know what is? Pro tip, if you know it's a long service on your vehicle and you're not wanting to Uber home and back. Go shopping south around Ross, 5 below, or even have lunch nearby. There's an ok buffet called Paradise Buffet that you definitely can kill some time there. read more

16 months or so ago, my friend who is a professional in the automotive industry recommended Memo's tires, as we live near by. As a female driver, I always feel like I have a "sucker" written on my forehead because I truly am not educated on a motor vehicle & its components, such as something as important as the tires ! ( that's why I'm a member of AAA roadside assistance of 20 yrs). I was driving a 1999 Avalon still in good running condition but had a problem with a nail stuck in one tire and air was leaking out. I told Mr Memo I was going to replace the car in the next 9 months, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a tire & was ok with a second hand one. He quoted me about $50 and helped remove & replace and then added air to all 4 tires. I paid cash to support my local independent small business owner. I don't know if $ 50 is a reasonable or expensive price for a 2nd hand tire but I knew I needed a replacement & my budget was very limited. I could have gone to a car repo spot ( one in El Monte) & gotten a tire for $20 but no way I could replace the tire myself. One of the jobs in life that I will forever outsource...therefore, $50 was reasonable to me for the entire work. Mr Memo is knowledgeable and a pleasant professional in my experience. Fast forward to beginning of Dec, my new (2nd hand) electric car now needed more air and I went back to Mr Memo. He added air to all 4 tires again & helped reviewed the treads of the tires & said they were newish condition and do not need replacement. He even helped me add the new license plate holder which I needed longer nails but didn't have them ( I was going to go to Home Depot to buy the screws and then a DIY job). I asked him to help me and he did both jobs; ALL FREE OF CHARGE! :D I was quite delighted!!! Although he didn't charge me, I gave him a tip. Memos tire told me that if I wanted to install it even though I called prior for a quote it would be $60 + labor to put on some lugs. Memo has been taking care of my tires for over 30 years, starting at his previous location on Floral Drive. His current location on Pomona is much larger, but lacks the three hydraulic lifts he had at the older smaller place. He used four manual jacks to lift my Chrysler Sebring Convertible to replace all four tires (see picture). He was working alone yesterday for the first time I have ever seen, it took him an hour to replace and balance my tires, about 15 minutes each, not a bad time. Much faster if he had a hydraulic lift. He doesn't have the equipment for an alignment, either. At least not that I saw. He advertises as tire repair and mechanic, but I wouldn't come here for a mechanic unless it was an emergency as 99 percent of his time is spent on tires. Memo has hundreds of new and used tires in stock. I know most people won't consider used tires, but they have their purpose. I brought a friend to Memo and bought him four used tires to get him home to Lubbock, Texas. Of course if you can afford new, get new. But used will last you a year, or two, or until you can replace them with new. There's no lobby, or waiting room, but you can have a cup of coffee at the corner at the 7-11. He fixed my immediate problem of replacing the spare tire, and giving me a used tire for a cheap price. He filled all my tires with air, and took the time to explain a few things for me. He said my flat tire couldn't be patched, and I'm not sure that I believe that 100%. In any case, my tires are old anyways, so no big deal, since I need to replace all of them in due time. I live near the area and it was more for convenience. I don't think I would come back here for mechanic work due to cost...unless I desperately need to. 2010 Honda Civic I got an oil change, a new thermostat, new oil filter. The original estimate was around total of $60 in parts and the rest in labor. Estimated cost of labor $167 My estimated total if we couldn't get the parts lower was going to be $227. The good news was that they were able to get the parts for less, saved me $20 but the bottom line for cost was still $227. Total time for repair was estimated less than 2.5 hrs. So I still paid the original estimate... Bottom line is I know I could've saved myself, estimating, 40-60 going to my regular mechanic but it was bad timing and I had put this off for as long as I could. I had to get this done today. So I appreciate for taking care of my car. This place will be my emergency, last resort. They have good tire prices and are have nice customer service and that's why I give them a 4. read more

I was really annoyed by this place because I called beforehand to check and see if they had any used tires in the size I needed. I was told that they did and given a price. However, once I got there, he pulled the tire out and said it wasn't that great so I was better off getting a new one. Well that would've been helpful had he told me when I called. So I opted for the new tire and he quoted me $60. I paid $40 of it in cash (the price for the used tire) and paid the last $20 on my credit card. However, he charged me for a total of $65. Careful with this place, I was overcharged for a full synthetic oil change with a tire rotation and the directional tires were put on incorrectly. I also noticed that my car was used to run an errand as a receipt for a windshield was left in my car and a decrease in my gas. Owner claims that it wasn't them as they don't drive customer cars unless it's for a test drive. Seems that they abused the test drive going all the way out to city of industry. Not only that, but he took the time to show me how the patter of wear on my old tires shows what the problem was (in my case, they were under inflated). Like I said, honest and transparent, doesn't try to sell you unnecessary stuff like Pep Boys, and is definitely better priced.
