Best Cuban in Tampa Bay!!!! Hands down. I grew up south of Gandy, eating Cubans at Robertos and the Green Store... and many other wonderful mom and pop Cuban cafeteria style restaurants that are now gone. I now live in Pinellas and every so called Cuban sandwich shop insists on killing Cubans by over pressing them until it is a heavy greasy soggy mess. This is just WRONG! Cubans should be lightly buttered and pressed. M&G fortunately does not over press. They know exactly what they are doing. Perfectly pressed so the meat is still cold, the cheese is just warmed and the bread is flakie... leaving your table a mess of crumbs. It's a shame other places mislead transplants into thinking a Cuban is just roast pork, ham, Swiss and pickles, over pressed on French bread. They have no clue what they are missing. Oh... and they use salami. If you know anything about Cuban Sandwiches, they were invented in Tampa, by Cubans. Not Miami, not Cuba. If it doesn't have salami, it's NOT a Cuban. It certainly is not a Cuban if it is not made on Cuban bread!!!

I'm always on the hunt for the next greatest thing. Add to the fact that I am about as close to being a native Tampan as possible, so understand that I have had my fair share of Cuban sandwiches. You see, a lot of restaurants will claim that they have "authentic" Cubans. Located in Largo and tucked away at the end of a nondescript shopping center, you will find M&G Cuban Cafe. Immediately, I skeptical when I saw "Enjoy The Cuban Flavor" boldly proclaimed across the front of M&G Cuban Cafe's menu. Fortunately, my visit did not disappoint. After a short wait, my 12" Cuban was served on some of the freshest, crispiest Cuban bread that the area has to offer. In fact, the bread was cut at an angle so sharp that it was almost like a dagger! Jilted lovers, lookout, it could actually be used as a weapon! As for the meats...there was a little less than I would have liked to have seen on a foot long . Even with the mustard and Mayo slathered on, the sandwich was a bit dry. Maybe I missed it, but there should be a special that includes chips and a drink. Overall, I did enjoy the experience. The restaurant was clean, and the gentleman behind the counter (presumably the owner) was very nice and friendly. I'm not in the area often, but next time I am, I will be sure to stop by.

Yelped local restaurants by my job and found this gem. Checked the menu and got a cuban sammy with a cafe con Leche. The coffee was perfect and the cuban was tasty and traditional. Good roast pork and it really was delicious. Tap to pay and I asked about a tip. He said next time, because he obviously knew I was a new customer. Now that is customer service! I will be back and I'll over tip next time. So yourself a favor and try some local small businesses, they put their all into the food. If not they close shop and go back to work for amazon.

The best cuban sandwich in town!!!

You can watch boats cruise by while you eat. The best spots are on the open outdoor deck or at a table next to the large windows. Inside, the dining room is decorated in a Mediterranean style. It features colorful Spanish tiles, lush tropical plants, and authentic artwork. The famous historic 1905 salad originally created in 1905 was made table side by Tossing 4 cups of chopped iceberg lettuce, 1/2 cup julienned ham, 1/2 cup julienned Swiss cheese, 1 ripe chopped tomato, and 1/2 cup green Spanish olives. Top with Romano cheese, Worcestershire sauce, fresh lemon juice, and a tangy garlic dressing. The flavor is great and it's a nice light healthy option. 9/10 The Ropa Vieja was Originally introduced to Cuba by Spanish sailors. The name means "old clothes" because the choice beef is shredded, sautéed and simmered with onions, green peppers and tomatoes. Served with platanos and white rice. 9/10 The Shrimp Salteado came with Jumbo shrimp sautéed in exra-virgin olive oil, sliced Spanish onions, green peppers, fresh garlic, mushrooms, diced potatoes, chorizo and red wine. Served with yellow rice. 9/10 For dessert, the flan is one of the best I have ever tasted. The recipe dates to 1935 when the Columbia opened Tampa's first "Conditioned Air" dining room, the Don Quixote. Our grandmother and great-grand-mother, Carmen Hernandez, helped the Columbia gain national fame with her great recipes, especially her flan. Spanish caramel egg custard, prepared the old-fashioned way, using only the best natural ingredients. 9/10 Our server was friendly and informative and our food came out in a timely manner. Suggest valet for $6 or a couple of trips around the lot to find a spot. We sat outside, which was enclosed and heated and your are right on the water. Super cool and great views. We started off with the toasted bread and butter and the devil crab croquet. Not a fan - full of crab but the flavors didn't sit well and really needed some type of sauce to pair with it - we only had hot sauce. The original salad - is a must we shared it across four. It's made table side has cheese and olives in it and was really good. We got ours with a side of shrimp. Main courses - Cuban - it's a classic sandwhich which we shared. Comes with fried plantains which were ok. Again would have been better with some kind of sauce to dip it in. Steak Salteado - good flavor l, was expecting thin sliced steak and it was more like stew meat. Paired with rice and was good. Palomilla - would be better as the sandwhich version. Again this one needed a sauce for dipping. Shrimp "Al Ajillo" - this is a must and the oil garlic mix is perfect for dipping you toasted bread.
