This is a casual place where you can get some delicious Cuban sandwiches, rice and beans and other Cuban dishes. I've been coming here for years and just love their sandwiches. They offer them in three sizes which is great to have that choice. The combination half sandwich and choice of soup can't be beat for $9.95. The chicken soup is loaded with chicken, thin noodles and carrots and is absolutely delicious. They also have homemade desserts and the rice pudding is excellent. The only reason I'm deducting a star is because there was no pork on the sandwiches and only one very thin slice of pickle the last time I went there. We've been regularly eating at this little gem In Largo. Great consistent food. We get the take out to either our house for dinner or to the office for work lunches. It's not fancy but the food is great. It is a favorite of my granddaughters - they love the "brown beans and rice" (and roast pork). Its family owned and operated. Ben has been talking about this place since we started dating but never took me there or picked it up. Finally, I mentioned it and he was all over it! You can definitely tell that this is a local spot that has been here for years based on the decor and process to get the food. The sandwich itself is huge so I was happy Ben ordered just one for us to share because I only ate half of my half and Ben gladly ate what I couldn't. I, personally do not like pickles on my sandwiches but I just removed them. No big deal and the sandwich was great. Came here today for a quick lunch. Walked in and placed an order for take out. It was fast. Placed the order and was out the door in about ten minutes. We ordered the mojo pork, white rice, black beans, and a side of ropa vieja. Prices are REALLY nice. Two meals with the extra side of meat for like $18. No complaints, the food was good. I'm giving three stars because it wasn't the best or the worst, just average. The food portions here aren't as big as most other Spanish restaurants (but you still get a good amount). When you walk into the restaurant the aroma smells amazing. But smells can be deceiving! You order at the register. The lady was very nice. I ordered a traditional Cuban 7inch with black beans and rice. My husband ordered the sloppy mojo. We also ordered two papas rellanos. [potato ball]. Food was brought to the table in less then 5 minutes. First bite of the Cuban was all it took. It was cold. There were Four slices of cold deli ham folded up on the bread. One pickle. One half slice of salami, melted white stuff [assumed it was cheese] kept looking for the roasted pork it said was there, there was some mustard on the bread. To at the least it was horrible. On to the black beans with a scoop of yellow rice, warm to the touch in the bowl but cold throughout. It looked as though the beans were from a can and not drained, the milky solution was thick. Not pleasant to eat. The rice was not cooked and chewy. The sloppy pig was by far the worst of the sandwiches. The bread was crumbly so when you took a bite it broke all over and the only good thing was that the pork was tender but no flavor at all and oh so greasy. The "au jus" was just a little bowl of oily un -flavored, I want to say broth but broth has more flavor so I will say some drippings The papas were fluffy but no seasoning whatsoever. Even the potato portion was bland. We both took a few bites of everything just to make sure we were fair with this rating. Then we actually just threw it all in the trash. I Would we go back? Not a chance. In our opinion The Cuban at Publix is better! At least they have pork on theirs and more then one pickle. Vacatioing in Tampa area wanted to really have some Cuban food. 1) The Arroz Con Pollo with plantains was good, and the picadillo with rice and black beans was OK. NO white rice just yellow rice??!! I really want to give 5 stars...... My husband and I have eaten here numerous times. The Cubans are among the very best in Pinellas. The beans, rice, and mojo pork is always fantastic as well. Our food has never been over or under flavored. The prices are very good! The staff and management always polite. So, why can't I give this place 5 stars? While I like the 'feel' of the place it is badly in need of a remodel or make over. The fountain doesn't work anymore and the faux plants around it are somewhat dusty. I love the table tops with the cute bumper stickers and pictures but one needs to be replaced and the others would benefit from being resealed to protect them. This spot was recommended to me by a friend after a discussion about how my work lunch group just can't seem to find a good one in the Largo area. So the four of us went. The four of us got large cubans. The four of us added rice and beans for $7.33. I took a picture..check out my photography skillz. Ordering: You order at the register and then they'll bring it to your table. The good: -The Cuban was made correctly: ham, roasted pork, mustard, swiss cheese, pickles between hard pressed cuban bread. -The Cuban tasted really good, albeit slightly...SLIGHTLY cool when you bit into the center of the sandwich. -The Cuban was...a Cuban, made by a hispanic staff (thank god) -The rice and beans were tasty and the unmarked hot sauce was legit! -Price for the large Cuban w/ rice and beans was phenomenal for the quantity of food. I didn't eat dinner that night, still full. In retrospect, I should have got half to-go. The bad: We only had one real complaint: too much ham and not enough pork. Also, this spot wasn't too crowded...not sure what that means, but I'll be back to try some more menu items for sure. I have lived in south Florida, so I guess my expectations were quite high. the menu is extremely limited: I had the shredded chicken with yellow rice. I don't know how they can call themselves Famous. There is a gas station in Dunedin that makes a FAR superior Cuban than this. Here's the deal; I was craving a Cuban on a busy day at work and UberEats suggested Really Famous Tampa Style Cubans. I ordered and food was delivered quickly. I was so stoked at having a Cuban Sandwich/black bean and rice combo, I didn't mind paying $13.47 (plus tip) to have it delivered to me. Maybe I had built up my craving too much, because I was very disappointed once I opened the bag and sat down to eat. The sandwich: I went to pick up my sandwich and I notice that it was not cut all the way through. No big deal, I went and got a knife and finished the job. I try to pick up my sandwich again, and this time the whole sandwich and wrapper rise off the table. The wax paper they send it in had completely infused with the bread forming a symbiotic relationship to prevent that portion of bread from being consumable (see pictures). It was not cheese sticking to the wax paper, they must have put a hot sandwich on wax paper. How could they not see this is a terrible idea and have chosen a better vessel? Butcher paper doesn't melt, maybe aluminum foil... I love Cubans and have consumed many. The meat in my sandwich tasted like discount grocery store cold cuts, and there must have been a pickle shortage, because my sandwich had one sad looking pickle on each half. The bread was the best part. Really delicious, too bad I had to peal so much off and throw it away. The black beans and rice: Bland I repeat, I have had better Cubans from gas stations. A mom and pop dive with good food, good prices, friendly service and decor that I can only describe as scattered. We went up to the counter, placed our order, and stood there for a few minutes before they told us that we could just go sit somewhere. Our table was covered with crumbs when we got there. My wife didn't get her drink order until she reminded the server about it. I got the wrong soup, but loved it anyway. None of this bothered me for some reason. We both had soup, cubans, and a drink and we paid less than $20. The Cubans had ham and salami - no pulled pork - but were really good. The bread is fantastic. The 4 inch sandwich is more like 5 inches, the 7 is about 8-9. We will definitely come back. Not the best Cuban I've ever had, but quick, friendly, tasty, filling, and affordable. It was by far and away the WORST Cuban I have ever had. I placed my to go order (just a single large Cuban) at the register and the guy rings me up, runs my card and all that jazz. While I was signing the CC slip the same guy reached into a large Tupperware container that was sitting next to the grill and tosses a pre-made sandwich into the press. The container with all the pre fab Sammy's are kept NEXT to the hot grills NOT in a fridge and no use of gloves was evident. I was grossed out at this point but still willing to tough it out in hopes of a bangin Cuban. No such luck. The sandwich was less than 1/2" thick. One slice of processed pork (not real Cuban pork) One slice of lunch meat ham, one slice of salami and cheese. One tiny hamburger dill chip was on each half of the sandwich. No mustard. It was just a really pathetic excuse for a Cuban sandwich. Go to Tia's on Ulmerton or try the Cuban Delight Café in St. Pete. Now, this was not a random "Oh look, let's try that out" kind of detour. Far from it! I had heard a lot about this little dive restaraunt and their Cuban sandwiches and it was time to ceck it out. The food was love at first bite! I have had black beans many ways, but these simple beans were seasoned and cooked to comfort food perfection! The sandwich was no less of a disappointment. The roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, mustard and pickles were all pressed together, hot and melted, between two pieces of fresh baked authentic Cuban bread and was simply delicious! Tampa Style Cubans on East Bay has some of the best Cuban sandwiches I've had in Tampa Bay. They use authentic Cuban bread, w/roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles. The sandy's come hot off the press; the bread is crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and the layers of meat & cheese are nicely melted together. You can get a combo w/black beans & rice if you're extra hungry. I've sampled some of the other menu items like mojo pork & jambalaya, but the Cubans are what takes me there time & again.
