Decided to stop at Groupers on the Gulf for dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sat at the bar, which was fully stocked with both beer liquor and wine, and met some interesting people there prior to ordering my meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Decided to try the grouper since it's in the name of the place, and asked the bartender for a recommendation between a grouper sandwich and the grouper Reuben. He shot back real fast and said everybody loves the Reuben... Got a couple of beers to buy my time until the grouper Reuben got there, and I must say it was delicious! I don't know of anybody else that serves it in a Reuben style, so this was a surprise to me. Though there wasn't as much fish in there as I would have liked, hence the four stars, the sandwich was still very good and I would come back and get another one! read more

More Bad than Good, Unfortunately Groupers is a small café with a comfortable atmosphere. Servers are nice enough. Prices are fair. I tried three things. I started with the lobster bisque which was good but needed some extra salt and pepper. It went downhill from there. I was supposed to get some chicken wings next, but they came alongside my main. Why is coursing things out so difficult? The chicken wings had an unpleasant graininess to the meat. That usually happens when the chicken is overcooked or has been thawed too quickly. I think that improper thawing was the problem here. I went on to eat my accompanying main, a grouper dinner. The grouper was two thin filets and the fish had a grey color and was overly greasy. The dinner included some nice slaw and broccoli that was overcooked and rather bland. I really wish that it had gone better, but two of my three items had serious issues. I doubt I'll return. read more

Decided to give this a try during our annual IRB vacation trip. They were out of wings (one of the things I was hoping for), but not a deal breaker. Small menu with very little variety. Our table ended up with grouper bites, boom boom shrimp, and shrimp tacos. The 8 shrimp were basic with the sauce dumped on top a bed of lettuce. The grouper bites and fries were way over cooked, definitely stayed in the fryer way too long. We had two orders of these and both were well done! The shrimp tacos were probably the best, but nothing to write home about. If I could do half stars I'd probably go 3.5. No major issues, we just know good food and this didn't quite meet the bar. We walked in about mid afternoon on a Friday. We were the only ones there, so we were a little unsure if we made the right choice for lunch, but we were greeted promptly and our food was very good! Kids had chicken quesadillas and I had the blackened grouper tacos. My husband had a cuban along with a couple street tacos since he was hangry after a long day of traveling. I have eaten here a number of times over the last few years in February-March. The food has been consistantly good and I would eat here again. But another thing that is consistant is the wait time for carry outs, which I generally get. My experience is that you tend to wait another 20 minutes or so once you arrive. It is my humble opinion that they don't start your order until you arrive. So as a heads up, I would advise you to just go there, belly up to the bar, order a beer and place your order in person. read more

Swung by here for lunch yesterday on a whim and I was glad I did! I was torn on what to order so I did a double order of 2 Fried Grouper Tacos and their Cuban Sandwich with fries. I loved the decor which had a sea type/seascape vibe with a few tables outside, a few tables inside and a small bar. I had one taco and 1/2 of the sandwich and while both were delightful, the main event was the pork on that Cuban! It was sooooo tender and juicy that I wish I was able to eat the whole sandwich! I spoke to the husband and wife as they were very nice and welcoming. Their is a parking lot with enough spaces and do look forward to coming back in the near future! read more

Looking for a nice place to eat, try this place. It is in a small strip mall on 14th Street and Gulf Blvd. I am glad I found it. It's a small place with very good food. Every thing we tried was very good. I will be sure to go back next year when we stay here again. The grouper sandwich I had was very good. My wife enjoyed the fried shrimp and my daughter had a very good chicken taco. Overall, an extremely delicious meal for a good price. I do recommend giving it a try! read more

Our waitress (Sandy) was one of the worse we've ever made. We had to ask for silverware, we had to ask for the tool for the crab legs. Never came back to ask us for any refills. Also, the table across from us had to ask for silverware too. Of course, when she brought our bill she had no problem being prompt. Had 1 shrimp and 2 Grouper tacos with fries for lunch (split with my wife) the grouper was fresh and melted in your mouth. Was nice to be able to have a shrimp taco as well. Came here after a day at the beach and on the whole it was ok. The space isn't huge but the staff are friendly and helpful. My son commented on the face on the grouper on the logo and I feel that sums up my feelings too. I got the fried grouper sandwich, which was massive. Crusty Kaiser roll like bread with two pieces of fish and the fixings. Well fried and super crisp. Fries that come along with it taste pretty standard. My wife got the blackened grouper tacos and those were also ok. I liked the blackened seasoning better than the fried and the coleslaw is refreshing but again didn't find it super special. Went to another restaurant down the road to get some seafood, but had the dog with us. I was surprised that even outside we couldn't have my dog Norman. So we went by Groupers and spoke to some of the staff that said Norman was fine on the patio. First thing is the staff was insanely friendly. Every person that spoke to us was so nice, and accommodating. The food was so great too. Started off with the fish spread, then got the grouper bites, shrimp tacos and a bowl of peel and eat shrimp. Top marks on all of it. Seriously delicious, with healthy portion sizes. There was a nice little selection of adult beverages, affordable prices, fun atmosphere, across the street from the beach.
