Extremely professional establishment. They take special orders which are then filled in a timely manner. The store is stocked with pretty much anything you could want as far as surplus is concerned. Today I saw the manager handle a sticky situation in a most professional way..... Rather like a Marine in a firefight. A woman brought in, to return, a pair of pants that had obviously been worn, washed, and sat somewhere near a dog for quite a long time. They were covered in dog hair, or smelly, and totally unkempt. The manager would not take them back, no matter how the woman pleaded. He handled it appropriately, professionally and I would expect no less of establishment as good as this one. Its more than a shop of curiosities, full of big and small stuff. This place is the real deal; lots of metal and wood. They carry all the equipment necessary for a major safari; also for imaginative props for your home grown movie or photoshoot. A while ago, I came here to find a gas mask for a friend's movie. Needed to be very specific to color and style. The employees were keen to the idea of a movie. It sort of had a Resident Evil...video game appeal, fun stuff. They pointed out some of their cool looking gear; pilots helmet, gloves, various boots, crates (always useful), nets...etc. There was a side room full of older machine parts; huge bolts, screws, gears, and metal. The room could've been a set for Hell Raiser or something like that; dark and dingy, low ceiling. In the end I only left with the gas mask, but that place has plenty of potential. read more

This was my first visit to a military supply store, and it was quite a trip! Though some things are a bit pricey, the range of products here is impressive. Super friendly staff, and pretty well organized for a surplus store. They are not the cheapest surplus store and by far not the most expensive. I can't say that anything really stood out for me here. This has always been my go-to surplus store, not that I go that often, its just the only one I ever knew of before the internet was invented. I realized the other day that I've never purchased anything there. I always go there intending to buy something and realize they don't have it. I end up roaming around and I look at all the cool things I would buy if I went all guerrilla on someone. When I was there the other day I realized that this will for sure be my go-to place for future camping gear...they have the goods!! You can get a cool camo sleeping bag for like $25!!! What a steal :D I went there specifically looking for a small grey t-shirt that read ARMY. They had one, it was an xxl, and I thought "not so much". So if you want small stuff (unless you're a kid, they had some kid stuff), you might find it difficult. Still a pretty cool place with some pretty cool stuff. read more

I've been to M & I twice and both times I was impressed but the amount of camping and outdoor accessories. I also bought a vintage Czech canteen and a WWII Swiss gas mask bag that was reasonable. I've been to many surplus stores across California from San Diego to Los Angeles and I can tell you M&I is one of the better surplus I've been to. There is a good selection of military surplus from the U.S. and Europe like BDU's, hats, jackets, backpacks and duffle bags. They also carry a good amount of work shoes/ boots camping gear and aftermarket military style clothing and gear. If you're more into prepping then they have a decent selections of gasmasks, helmets, vests and MRE's both miltary issue and aftermarket. Prices are reasonable and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I have become a frequent customer and highly recommend M&I. read more

Been coming to M&I since I was a kid and still to this day, each and every trip is a treat and a unique experience! In the past 15 years or so I've been a patron, they've done a great job increasing their overall inventory and variety of surplus gear. The WW2-era militaria section in the store is an awesome place to find true one of a kind pieces of history. The staff are always super friendly and helpful. The prices on most things are pretty reasonable unlike a lot of the similar items you'll find on eBay. Definitely worth the money for the unique surplus items you can't really find elsewhere in the LA area. They also have a good supply of new unused surplus and camping/outdoors gear as well. I've been to this place for a variety of reasons: minor military supplies, camping gear, and rugged pants. It's a large surplus store and has a little of everything, but lacks some key items. Here's my breakdown of M & I: MILITARY: The range of supplies they have here is impressive. I purchased my Tritium compass here back when I trained for land nav. The price was comparable to Ranger Joe's and any AAFES. Thumbs up, M & I. For field gear, they have ammo cans, MSS, canteens, e-tools, 550 cord, and MREs. They do have canteen cups for 1-qt canteens, but that can be a shot in the dark. I made two trips to purchase two canteen cups so call before stepping off to insure your desired item is in-stock. Regarding gear, M & I carries hydration systems (not digi camo, though that won't matter in a year), poncho/poncho liner, LBV/FLC and all the appropriate pouches. Most everything is an American knockoff of the standard issued gear you would get at your unit or CIF, but its a decent knockoff. If your looking for good quality boots, this is not the place. Their socks are poor quality, not reg as well. No Fox Rivers here. Same goes for shirts, blouses, coats, or pants. Check your local Exchange or online. CAMPING: As mentioned, they do carry MSS and civilian sleeping systems. Check the back for butane stoves and butane canisters. They are very limited in the selection of tents they carry. However, they do carry a great variety of first-aid and high-calorie meals. This includes snake bite extractor kit, bee-sting allergy kit, Chigg-away/Off!, light sticks, and of course MREs. They also carry gas cans and military-style wool blankets. For those looking to rappel, they have a limited selection of carabingers and static rope. There is a selection of knives and multipurpose tools including Leatherman and Swiss Army, but its limited to a few glass displays. CIVILIAN: Good selection of Dickie's. Mediocre selection of workboots. The staff is cool, just hang on to them once you have their attention or they will be pulled by another customer with twenty-one questions. Prices are spot on. Though M & I is limited in the selection for certain items like tents and boots, the variety of items for military and camping is impressive and convenient. I cannot think of another location in the IE with similar variety and quality. read more

Went here about a month ago and was satisfied with the amount of options they had here. I purchased some tactical boots and tru spec pants from m&i. They have a great selection from bdu's, tactical gear, camping, law enforcement belts, shirts, hats, anything you want thats surplus they have it. I'll definitely be back soon. When it comes to military questions, they don't know squat. Looking for an USASOC mini pin or an 11th ACR hat pin. All they can say is ummm whatever we have is on display. The employees really need some education on the military equipment and just basic knowledge. read more

I go here for alll my camping and hiking gear. The staff is really cool and helpful and the selection is soooo much better than any other surplus store I've been to. Some of the stuff there can get pricey, but it's worth it. I went with my buddy who's in the army and he was like a kid in a candy store. He said that everything here was pretty impressive. They have everything from clothes and shoes to army memorabilia and even weapons. M&I has such a vast variety of things, you're bound to find something you'll want to get. I have been coming here since I was in a baby carrier. My dad came here for years before that. They are the only place I have found that carries the M2 ammo boxes. They are also the only place that has really cheap prices on ammo cans. Other places charge upwards of 20-25 for a 50 cal can. I got mine there for $14.95. They also have an aisle dedicated to MRE's where you can select any meal side meal and accessories you want. They are reasonably priced with a huge surplus collection. I can't see where people are getting that the clothing is mostly new... Everything on the rounders is all surplus. Stuff along the wall is all new. The staff has been very friendly and very courteous. read more

Let's get this out of the way right now; I love this place. It's ten minutes from my house and I've been buying gear here for 20 years; hats, t-shirts, socks, duffel bags (several), shooting bags, paracord, cooking gear. They rotate their stock pretty regularly, have most of what I need, at very good prices. I don't shop for high-end gear here like top grade backpacks, sleeping bags, but I scored a Buck knife and a lot of cooking and camp gear. I don't get the posts here that rag on the 'inattentive staff'. Most of the regulars I see here know what they're looking for and what the gear is and what it does, and don't need a lot of fussy sales people crawling around and looking over their shoulder. One guy said he was miffed he couldn't return a 13 dollar item, and he drove 40 miles. Dude, I wouldn't expect a store like this to have a Nordstrom return policy---guys switch up items, do all kinds of funky stuff with return items, so get over it. I talk with a couple of the owners when I want expert advice. For everything else, there's Bass Pro, REI, and plenty of knife outlets online. I say Rock On, M&I. Keep up the great work and please, please, don't close your store because of online retailers stealing your business. If I want to check out various colors of paracord, I'm coming to you. read more

This is no bass pro shops, but it is a very good military surplus supplies store. Everything camping you can think of and then some. Military uniforms and patches from countries all over the world, if your going to a uniform themed party this is the place you need to go. Boots, parachutes, berets, belts and buckles they got it all. Tents, canteens, fuel cans, friendly staff to answer your questions. When I need something outdoors this is the first place I check. They've even got the old wooden canvas Army stretch cots, boy do I remember these as a kid as we camped a lot. Fishing and hunting supplies as well and bait too! read more

I like the items they have in the store. A lot of the items brings back memories of when I was enlisted in the Army. Some of the things are over prized and some of the store workers seem to be bothered when you ask them questions. Do ur homework before coming here. Know what u want before shopping here. I got my bomber jacket from here in high school over 20+ years ago when my dad took back his air force jacket from me & I needed one to eat with my dr martens to feel cool, it was the 90's u know. Lol. Since then, this place has always been great for camping goods, fishing, ammo cans, you name it, they have it & good prices too. My husband wanted a soap dish for something I figured I could find one at target, but no, they didn't have what he wanted. I happened to drive by M&i and I just knew they would have what I needed! Lol. Under $2 & the hubby is thrilled. I'm sure I could've ordered it on amazon, but why do that when this is such a great store! I even tried on new bomber jackets for old times sake and considered getting a new color. Maybe blue this winter instead of black or green?? read more

I had went to M&I Surplus body if you think something had got left it out that I had paid for I had called back the next day I was informed they be open on Sunday I made a trip out there was not open called back again on Monday employee offered to bring the purchase out to me so the employee drove from M&I Surplus to Riverside and delivered the item this employee went out of his way to make sure the customer was happy I really appreciate it great place for Surplus read more
