Had dinner there recently and enjoyed the food, drinks and overall vibe. A little bit too pricey though in my opinion.

What a fantastic discovery. As I walked up you could smell, whatever they were cooking from the parking lot. Which was mouthwatering. I ordered the teriyaki steak, garlic shrimp, asparagus sitting on the bed of garlic, mashed potatoes. Thank you, Jen for the recommendation. I enjoyed an IPA Prior to dinner thank you Bryan for the recommendation. The steak was flavorful and juicy. The shrimp that came with my plate was fantastic. EXCELLENT SERVICE from our waiter. The kind of service that all restaurants should hold their standards to. I went in for a lunch meeting and ordered the chopped salad. It was delicious. The restaurant was very comfortable with a calm ambiance, and the staff were spending their down time decorating the restaurant for the holidays. It's was a thoughtful gesture and very appreciated. Everything looked great. They really went the extra mile to accommodate me by hanging my coat. I don't even mind paying money for great food and M&J is pretty much always on point-- but this tiny little piece of cheesecake cost $14. I ordered it to go, and I didn't think to look in the bag before I left because why would I?? It's a slice of cheese cheesecake. I ordered a slice not a slither. Late post from a few days ago, our dinner was absolutely phenomenal!! My daughter and I were visiting family in Tracy, we are from Arizona and I could not be more impressed with the food and our server Jennifer! She was incredibly engaging and knew the menu like the back of her hand! She answered all of my questions and made sure all of my special requests were met. I'm a very picky eater and not only did she accommodate me, but she did it with a huge smile which is very rare. My daughter said your Chilean Salmon is the best she's ever had, that's quite a compliment coming from her. We will be back when we're in the area again so thank you team! Reservations at 7 pm for a small birthday party and was seated and was just given water which tasted like dish water btw that was strike 1 sat for about 30 minutes and someone finally asked what were we drinking took 15 minutes to get our drinks sat for 20 minutes and finally got asked what are we ordering for food by 8pm By that time we had already googled another place to spend our money! The owner was there walking around never greeted us so we just paid for our drinks and took our business elsewhere and on the way out the birthday girl had a bag of gifts and the owner asks "what's In the bags"? The food was blah... nothing special to it. For $35 pasta shrimp and lobster ravioli pasta, it tasted and looked like a microwaveable tv dinner. My husband ordered the $38 pork chop and it was just ok. The service was good but the food was very disappointing. read more

Looking from the outside you won't think there is much beauty inside. But go inside! The prawn fettuccine was amazing! The clam chowder was so good too and the chips! Must get the chips! Yum! I had a great time and a delicious meal with my boo for this year's Valentine's Day dinner at M & J's. My boyfriend was already familiar but as a vegetarian and Oakland local, I don't make it to many steak spots--and definitely not many steak spots in Tracy. But it was worth the drive. I forgot to make a reservation, but there was only about a 10-minute wait for us to get our table at 7 on a Saturday, so it was all to the good. The host was super friendly and sweet. After our brief wait, we were seated and I made sure to check in on Yelp so we could get those free Crisp Shaved Potatoes! To drink, I sipped on their current special, the Love Potion, sans grapefruit, while my partner-in-dine kept it classic with a Cadillac Margarita. My boyfriend already knew what he wanted on the ride over: their Teriyaki Steak, which he said was perfect. I initially ordered the Eggplant Neapolitan but just wasn't feeling it. It's a major stack of eggplant and marina on top of a bed of fettuccine that just didn't do it for me. When that sweet host I mentioned from before asked me what he could get to replace it and I said I was good with mashed potatoes and veggies, he was incredibly suspicious. I've been here countless times and realized I had not given this establishment a review. This is my go to spot for birthdays, Mother's Day etc... The owner Jason is very personable. Brian is in charge and he runs the house smoothly. The food has never failed to satisfy. The shaved potatoes, shrimp chili and the tempura green beans are the best. The lobster ravioli and the Alfredo's are also really good. For lunch, I love the crispy chicken sandwich, that's not on the dinner menu. They have a full bar, they have your typical drinks, your wines, beers and non alcoholic beverages. The ambiance is dressy/casual. It can get a bit loud sometimes but not enough to be disruptive, more people enjoying each others company. A bonus: 5 miles from my house!!! read more

I dont usually like to compare, but this place reminds me of Flemings, Morton's or Ruth's Chris. You'll get the same quality, IMO. As always, I started with a smoked Old Fashioned. This was extremely strong. I didnt taste any simple syrup at all. I'm okay with that, but just be prepared. They didnt use a large cube or ball of ice. This was the best clam chowder I've tried in California. I can tell it's fresh and homemade. There are large chunks of clams, potatoes, and celery in this. I had a cup which came with a slice of French sourdough bread. It was absolutely perfect. I had the Walnut Oil Bistro Bruchette which was a tomato, fresh mozzarella , feta cheese and topped with a vinaigrette dressing. A bit messy, but very good. My entree came with a side salad and it wasn't anything special but it is perfect in size to hold me over until the entree came. The main attraction tonight was the lobster and filet mignon. It sat on a bed of thick mashed potatoes, long sliced carrots and fresh green beans. I had it medium rare (as you should), and holy ... SMOKES, did it ever deliver. Tender, juicy and incredibly flavorful. The veggies were crisp and cooked to perfection. The lobster had a nice layer of seasoning on top and came with a butter dip. I decided to treat my mouth once again by ordering a crepe with ice cream inside and topped with whipped cream along with chocolate sauce. It turned out to be too much to finish but it was rich, decadent and the perfect way to finish the night. There was a bit of caramel on the plate as well. We were visiting from Hawaii and my sister brought us here. Loved this beautiful upscale bistro. Great service, clean and lovely decor, relaxing environment, great selection of libations. Great choices for starters and meal. We tried the salads, bone marrow, chowder, sea bass, ravioli with lobster n shrimp and the pork chop. Everything was hot , seasoned perfectly and tender delicious. I ate my plate and picked off of everyone else's. The desserts were tasty and generous! We were stuffed! Jason the owner was gracious to greet us and ask how our meal was. Had a ministry group bring me here for dinner and decided to order the cheapest thing I could order since I was not paying so tried the shrimp and fettuccine . I did not read the description well enough and turned out to be an Alfredo sauce which I like but was thinking I ordered a garlic sauce. Alfredo sauce was good not too rich and at the bottom so you could get as much or as little as you want it on the noodles above it. Pasta was perfectly cooked and so were the shrimp. I had a Caesar side salad and the dressing was really creamy and flavorful. The table ordered a shrimp appetizer which was good and potato chips that were ok but not great. Table had lots of rib eyes ordered which in hindsight looked really good and were enjoyed by my companions so maybe that was the way to go. Great service and open kitchen that is always cool to be able to spectate. The food was plated nicely and the party that I was in very much enjoyed the drinks and dinner. Menu says no phones allowed so did not take a picture but will come back and try the steak and after seeing reviews the clam chowder also. read more

It was very dry and needed more sauce and was a small portion. My husband ordered the m&j ribeye and it was too dry for his tasting. We came to dine last Thursday night at M & J to celebrate my wife getting an award at work. We love the family atmosphere here. It's a family owned business which my wife & I try and always try and give our money to if we have options. My wife got the surf & turf, I got the eggplant linguini, and my kids got the Mac n cheese/Chicken tenders, & pizza/Chicken tenders. We also split a salad, & fried green beans, & clam chowder. Get there early if you don't want to wait. The food unfortunately was mediocre. Salmon way overcooked and unseasoned. Eggplant also lacking flavor. I expected better, but we know the owner was not there that night. It took over 2 hours to get our main entrees ML there was a larger table that they kept telling us was the reason.
