Not an honest shop. I have an old car that needed a lot of work. I brought it to M&W and was told it would cost $6k to fix after inspection. I said I can't pay that, and they removed a bunch of items and brought it down to $3k. I got a second opinion from another mechanic and found that most of the items weren't really necessary, and the ones that were I was being overcharged for by 100-200%. I ended up getting my car fixed somewhere else for $1500 and it works like a charm. read more

We have three Tesla's and we always bring our cars here. M & W has always serviced our tires from summer to winter and changes out our rims. Recently our oldest car with 104,000 miles on it needed brakes and rotors along with a new swing bar. The pricing was better than what Tesla charges and they were able to get our parts immediately. That isn't even possible to happen in Chicago so we make sure to bring our cars here to get serviced. Best tire prices and the service is great! The manager, Aaron, is very knowledgeable and has been great to work with. Also, it's important to mention a lot of places around here in Michigan aren't experienced enough to work on Teslas or aren't comfortable to work on them. This place is! Beware! We've used M&W for many years for our oil changes and tire rotations. Those services were fine. However, almost every time I was there for an oil change they's "find" something else that needed to be fixed. The cost range was generally between $200 and $1400. Each time I'd ask them for a printout of the work they thought was needed, I took my car to our mechanic who does that work for us, only to find out that the work wasn't needed. From what I've seen sitting in their waiting area, this is the how M&W works. The last thing was that they said that I needed a new oil pan for $500 and that the screw which held it on was stripped so they had to do this work that day. I called my husband and he said that he'd be right over. That brought the owner out of his office after hearing this exchange, he went back into the work area and came out to tell me that they "found a way" to put the screw back in. I took my car to our mechanic and he said that I didn't need an oil pan or new screw. Beware!! read more

My Camry Hybrid was due for 90,000 mile service and I chose to go to M&W since they had treated me fairly on the tires I had recently bought from them. Service was done well and in the expected time frame. Actual price was quite a bit less than the original estimate because there were things which did not need to be done (like alignment, and less fluid required). My wife then decided to have M&W service her Camry as a result. She was pleased with her result, as well. read more

Took my 2014 Ram to M&W for an EVAP code P0441. Told Mike, the service advisor I wanted a smoke test to eliminate any issue right from the start. I got my truck back after over 400.00 and issue wasn't corrected. They get my truck in again and they said they now found the issue, now we are up to 640.00, I'm good with that because now it's fixed, or so I thought. I asked Mike what they found when they did the smoke test and he informed me they didn't do a smoke test because they were out of smoke. I was told to bring it back and the smoke test would be 157.00, after already requesting it from the start and not getting it done. I've caught them in quite a few lies, Mike told me the tech spent many hours diagnosing issues with my truck, mind you they called me at 1:15 pm to get approval to move forward and then at 2:15 to let me know it was done, that's not many hours, that's 1 hour. Now they want to charge me 157.00 an hour to further diagnose my issue, I do not recommend this place to do anything that is actually tech related, basic brakes and tires maybe but if you have a serious issue, these aren't your guys!! And then had the nerve to tell me just because they replace something don't mean it's going to fix it lol. read more

Let me start by saying, I have some basic car and tire knowledge from a past job. Before I scheduled my appointment with M&W, I had already confirmed through the website that they carry the tire that I wanted. Mike was great to work with from the second I called in to schedule, you can do it through the website but I always like to talk and confirm parts availability - again past experience. I was given the option of dropping it off or waiting, due to my work schedule I picked waiting, and with 4 new tires and an alignment I was out of there in about 2 hours, which is incredibly reasonable! I had procrastinated for about a year on getting new tires because of COVID and not driving much, but I had forgotten how great my Escape can ride and how quiet it can be when you have a good set on! I was secretly convinced that the noise I was hearing was a wheel bearing going on, turns out it was road noise from the previous tires. They have multiple places that you can use while you wait including high-top table and chairs, and a couch and lounge chairs. The lobby was clean, staff friendly and informative, and overall it was a great experience! read more

The longer review body: Our most recent experience was having two cars we were considering purchasing.This was prompted by my husband bringing his previous car in for maintenance: the staff mechanic had it up on the lift for about thirty seconds before bringing it down and saying in effect "Get another one. This car's frame is rusting out. Badly." (The car in question was 23 years old, driven entirely in rural Michigan, so the verdict was not unexpected.) I came in due to hitting debris on the road which left me stranded near Benton Harbor. While the guys initially seemed nice and helpful, they totally lied to me about how long it would take. I got there around 10am to replace two tires and they didn't have them in stock. They told me by 1:30pm, they should have the tires and would get them on immediately. Of course, this is a long time, but I understand that they can't help how long it takes for the delivery guy. I don't fault M & W for this part at all. By 3pm (a full hour and a half from the time I was given), they finally got them in. Had they told me that it would take until 3pm to get the tires, I wouldn't have been upset at all. However, because they didn't update me, I had no idea. I had to ask and he told me 2:30. This was also untrue, because he didn't get there til 3pm. Guys, don't lie to your customers. Give us the worst case scenario upfront, otherwise it looks like you're lying or lacking knowledge. What made this worse was that they then took a half hour to even begin working on my car AFTER getting the tires in. The bays were full, I get that. However, when you know you've had someone sitting there for 5 hours, you might want to make them a priority. Be proactive, call your delivery guy, and set a bay aside because of it. That's what true client service is. I agree with the other Yelper who said that they pay you lip service and not actual service. Would never come back here willingly. I'll also be letting my insurance company know that so they don't continue to recommend this place. read more

These guys were nice enough to donate a set of tires at a Ducks Unlimited Banquet years ago. I of course spent more than I should on raffle tickets and needing a new set of tires, I dumped most of the tickets into that bucket. I won the "free" set of tires and went the next week to get them. After they were installed on my truck they presented me a bill for $600 with the explanation that because they were truck tires I had to make up the difference. (I would have to say 90% of the people at a DU banquet drive trucks) they should have put "$400 towards a new set of tires" on the raffle item. The time I went before that I ordered a new $2000 truck cap. I told them which one I wanted. I waited for it to come in, waited for an hour and a half to have them install it and then they noticed it got painted the wrong color. Huh. I waited a couple more weeks, another hour and a half to get it installed and it when they brought it out wasn't the same model cap I ordered. They wouldn't get me the correct one or even give me credit for this one because it's "special order" No shit! I wouldn't go back even if they tried to trick me with another "free" set of tires. P.S. I drove around for years with a cap I couldn't stand on a brand new truck because of these guys. read more

I got my snow tires put on my car and while they had them change my oil. I assumed they would balance the tires and put the proper air pressure in each tire. I was wrong . Instead of 35 psi two of the tires were 48psi, one was 32psi and the other one was 28psi. I was glad my car reads the tire pressure and gives me a warning if it's incorrect otherwise I would have thought they did it right. Getting the snow tires put on which did not have to be mounted and the oil change was almost $250. I have no idea if they balanced the tires but if they cant get basic tire pressure correct I will go else where next time. read more
