I browsed around for a bit and found a few things to try on. Both of the staff members I encountered in the fitting room were kind and helpful. I forgot both of their names unfortunately, but one was a petite blonde and the other was an Asian woman with short hair. While none of the items I tried on worked out, the brief interaction with both of them left a good impression. I've had mixed experiences with the staff at this location in the past, so I was pleasantly surprised. I'd suggest stopping by if you're in the mood to shop!

I spent over $500 at this store buying gifts for my best friends 40th. I clearly asked for two separate transactions, with one being a gift that needed a gift receipt, plus an extra boxe and a separate bag. It took a few extra minutes, but these are standard requests at a retail store. Instead of handling it professionally, the cashier made me feel like I was asking for something unreasonable. She acted visibly annoyed and then apologized to the customer behind me for having to wait--as though my request was an inconvenience. The customer ahead of me also took their time, and I waited patiently without any complaint. Somehow, only my transaction was treated like a burden. When a customer spends over $500, they shouldn't be made to feel guilty for asking for basic services the store provides. It wasn't the wait that bothered me--it was the attitude. The cashier made what should have been an enjoyable shopping experience feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Because of that interaction alone, I'm left with a terrible impression. The rest of the staff were courteous, but this level of customer service from the cashier is unacceptable, and it's enough to make me seriously question whether I'll shop at Anthropologie again. I brought up that a button had come off a pair of shorts, and the initial response made it seem like it was not their problem to fix it. After I was taken aback and complained, they offered a 10% discount. Then I asked if they could contact their Lafayette store to check whether they had a skirt I liked in a smaller size, and it felt like even that was too much trouble. I also spoke with the assistant manager about the service, but I can't say her attitude was much better. What made it even more frustrating was that this happened on a Saturday afternoon, and the store was practically empty. You would think they would want to take the time to help loyal customers. To be fair, I have shopped at McCaulou's many, many times, and this was the first time I had such a negative experience. Still, it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth and made me reconsider spending my money there. In this economy, with so many shopping options nearby in Walnut Creek, customer service matters. McCaulou's of Danville, please do better.

McCaulou's has really spruced up and has an excellent selection of clothes for women 40+. Quality items at discounted prices. Way, way better than shopping at the mall or downtown. Surprisingly fun and stylish clothes for women. Very updated stock and most sizes are available since few know about this treasure. Give it a try - I think you'll be as surprised as I was.
