M Cantina has a really creative Mexican menu. The chef has wonderful vision and the food was very good. The service was excellent, attentive, and very efficient. The decor was vibrant and lively. The cocktail menu is impressive and our drinks were great. We had the duck tacos, the surf and turf tacos, the chips and salsa quad, esquite, the passion fruit and coconut ceviche, which had shrimp and scallops in it, & the cinco leches cake. We were told that it's jalapeño season in Mexico and there did seem to be a little extra kick in some of the dishes. Overall, this was a wonderful experience and we can't wait to go back.

Great Service, the salsa/Sauce selection when your food is brought out makes this stand out from any Mexican dining experience I've ever had. The Ambiance was amazing overall would recommend you bring 3 or more people with you so you can all try as many tacos as you can. Everything on the menu was A+ !!

I've been to M Cantina many times since they first opened. I never had anything less than an excellent dining experience on any of those occasions. From the courteous staff, the excellent food and the beautifully intimate atmosphere, there is nothing to dislike about this restaurant. Some people may complain about the prices, but I can say with certainty that if you want Tex Mex or cheap Mexican takeout this is not your place. The owners use only the best quality ingredients to create unique items that borrow heavily from authentic Mexican cuisine. Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Dearborn, if not in Michigan

Service from Heidi was outstanding she made recommendations and answered all our questions and was very pleasant. Food was good had four types of tacos - filet, duck, chicken and pork. We also got the fajitas appetizer. I really like the beef the best and pork was 18 hour cooked. They have additional sauces that you can add to all the dishes. I would come back to get more tacos and try more dishes.

Where is the button for six stars?? M Cantina is PHENOMENAL!! The Mixology is next level and the way they combine ingredients for your food is just unmatched. If you want delicious experience from start to finish, visit M Cantina! Our waiter was excellent and everything came out quickly. We ate upstairs this time and it had a really nice ambience and lots of natural light. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants of all time.

    Tortilla soup. Yummy

Awesome!! A little tricky to find but worth the hunt. Reservations are strongly encouraged. Open for Thanksgiving. Thanks to the staff for being here Amazing drink list. The South of Rio is delicious. The tortilla soup was outstanding. Highly recommended. Chicken tinga tacos are loaded. Churrasco tacos are flavorful. And all the sauces. Dessert is phenomenal!!

A great spot for high end Mexican cuisine. What really makes this place stand out is their impressive lineup of 20+ house made spicy sauces each one crafted with care.

M Cantina is a great spot for gourmet Mexican food. My friends and I split the chips and salsa quad which is a great shareable. I ordered the soup as well that really hit the spot! We also had several orders of tacos that everyone enjoyed. Service was a bit slower that day but understandable. Ambiance here is great!

Very attractive restaurant. Enjoyed speaking with the owner/chef and his wife. Excellent presentation of food/tacos on wooden planks. Homemade sauces. The three of us each had 3 tacos: potatoes, chicken, and shrimp. They were all superb! We shared one serving of rice and beans. Everyone went home happy and satisfied!

the best thing here is the food - YUM. I felt like I was sitting in Polanco in Mexico City with this level of gourmet food. the salsas/guac included with the chips were insanely good, I would have been happy if that were my only part of my meal. strawberry lemonade was DELICIOUS! topped with strawberry chunks and a lemon slice. the tlayuda was also very delicious. not pictured, but the chocolate lava cake we got at the end was to die for. I'm drooling just thinking about it. the cecina tacos were slightly underwhelming after the delicious apps. but I can't wait to come back and try many of their other yummy sounding food items!

Do you like tequila? Do you want upscale Mexican food that tastes great? Then get on over to M Cantina. The craft cocktails mixed by nationally renowned mixologist, Junior Moreno, is also a bonus. This place could easily be a five star restaurant. The only thing that makes it less is that they insist that you must have a reservation and makes you put up a card to make one. And the way they try to enforce it, especially when the restaurant is empty on slow days is very off putting. But... and this is a serious but, the food and drinks will make you forget any bad taste that's left in your mouth from the host stand experience. The decor is culturally themed and gives the place a really authentic feel. There is dining room seating with a nice view of the kitchen, a bar, an outdoor patio, and an upstairs with room for larger groups. They have the largest tequila collection around and they will split a pour in two to share which makes for a nice date night tasting experience. The food is simply amazing! Hands down the best tacos I've ever had. Enough said. Trust me. Go here. You will love it.

Amazing food! This place really does live up to the hype. We got the chips and salsa, Peking duck tacos, and the Barbacoa tacos and finished with the ice cream trio. Everything was well executed. Flavors were clean and complex without being too much. The ice cream was quite sweet but that's just a personal preference. Our server was friendly and helpful maybe a bit too attentive if anything. We also got the Coming Up Roses and the Mexican Bramble. Both were phenomenal. Highly recommend this place.

OMG- is the owner the famous mixologist Junior Merino?!

Yes, this is the man Junior has done this for the city of New York.

Where does the name come from? It's cute

The owners moved from NY little over a year ago, ,, searching for name they thought M for Michigan and Cantina for the Mexican name.

The combo at $8.99 comes with three pieces of chicken, a bread roll, and two sides. The special is a few dollars less and comes with two pieces of chicken, a bread roll, and one side. Entrees are a good deal and largely portioned. One combo was shared between two people with lots of leftovers from the other entree to take home. The chicken is crispy and juicy. The bread rolls are likely bought wholesale and aren't good. The sides were okay and reminded me of cafeteria food. Overall, a decent stop for fried chicken. We went to La Cuscatleca over the weekend after trying Salvadoran food from a place in Ann Arbor…read morethe previous day. I didn't really like the food there so I was a bit confused whether it was that place in particular, or if I didn't like Salvadoran tamales and pupusas in general. I figured going to La Cuscatleca would help settle the question. La Cuscatleca is one of those marketplace/restaurant combos so common around SW Detroit and Dearborn. In the front is the register where you can pick up prepared drinks and tamales. The left half of the store is dedicated to selling Salvadoran sundries and food items. A bunch of ingredients and spices I have never seen before are stuffed into hand labeled bags and adorn the multiple shelves. The grocery area is quite crowded, with only maybe 2.5 feet in between each aisle. The restaurant order window and kitchen is in the rear, and the right half of the store is the eating area with a couple of tables. Ordering is pretty easy but requires you to know at least a little bit of Spanish - you place the order at the window, then find a seat and they'll bring the food out for you. After you finish, you'll get a handwritten bill, which you take up to the front register to pay. Again, just be aware that the people here speak little to no English. Pupusas ($3.50 each) - We tried three on the menu: revueltas, loroco, and chipilin. I think we screwed up the order with our one month Duolingo level Spanish because we weren't brought any salsa or curtido on the side. Still, these pupusas were super rich, completely stuffed to the brim with cheese and the other ingredients, with the cheese actually spilling out the sides and caramelizing a bit on the griddle. The salsa and curtido could have helped a bit to cut through some of the richness, but I think the pupusas in general are top quality. The revueltas is the most familiar with some nice refried beans spread on the interior. I wonder what the difference between the revueltas and the frijol queso is? (5/5) The loroco adds a very nice mild vegetal quality - the are very generous with the filling of cheese and whole loroco buds so you can taste and appreciate the flavor. This was my favorite of the three. (5/5) The chipilin is really, really pungent. It's kind of like spinach with the mouthfeel, but way more pungent in flavor. It's tender and not stringy or tough at all, but it's just a little too pungent for me. (4/5) Tamales ($3.33 each) - We got one puerco, one pollo, one pisque. These are wrapped in foil, then a layer of banana leaf, and finally the filling. As with a typical Salvadoran tamale, these are soft and tender masa, almost like a custard texture. The masa is an absolute flavor bomb - it's meaty, savory, full of umami. For the pisque, there's refried beans added only in the center. The beans are pretty dark looking for refried beans and has a bit of bitterness/acridity to it like it has burned bits mixed in. I'm not sure if it really was burned or it should taste like this. If it didn't have the burned taste, this would be more of a 4/5, but as it stands, it's a (1/5). The pollo has some tender potato and green pepper mixed in and the chicken maintains moisture well (4/5). The puerco has pressure cooked pork mixed in. They include the rib bones and cartilage, giving an unpleasing texture on the interior, but overall the meat portion is pretty tender and juicy (3/5). Atol de Elote ($4.50) - Woah, this is one seriously thick and rich drink. It's like drinking condensed milk mixed with corn and cinnamon. Or like a drinkable pudding or custard. Super sweet and super filling. It's served warm, so it seems great for a cold day (4/5). Bathrooms: One single room behind the eating area. La Cuscatleca is very popular with the local Salvadoran community for good reason. The pupusas in particular are hand made fresh and are absolutely delicious. While we were there, we saw several other parties all enjoying large bowls of soups and stews. We'll definitely have to come back to try those dishes and some of the other authentic specialties.
